MBB Recruiting; Goodbye, Dereck Lively
Per 247, announcing September 20th. Was always a longshot (and obviously Juwan got his C in Tarris Reed).
Will be crazy if he commits to Kentucky.

Post title is a bit misleading. He's almost certainly going elsewhere, but he ain't gone quite yet.
September 17th, 2021 at 2:03 PM ^
Also: "Will be crazy if he commits to Kentucky. "
He's almost certainly going to commit to Kentucky. Is the OP saying it will be a crazy occurrence if he commits to Kentucky? Or DL will be crazy for committing to Kentucky?
Who is crazy here? Am I crazy for trying to figure out what the OP is saying?
And didn't we all kind of agree to start using "wild" instead of "crazy" in our common lexicon?

Bruh, yeah it's a bad title, but you are doing way too much here. It's not that serious.
September 17th, 2021 at 2:52 PM ^
The obsession with “titles” on this board is hilarious. You’re on a free message board with random folks. As if your time is so precious that you can’t be troubled with an imprecise title.
September 17th, 2021 at 4:01 PM ^
If this was a random, free message board, I wouldn't be on here.
This community does a pretty decent job of following rules that help keep the board informative and engaging. It's not hard.

Says the guy who unilaterally retired Benjamin St. Juste.

HA HA HA HA HAAAAAAA!!!!

Why i dont post but mostly creep for the entertainment....i like to talk, comment, and like to read about anything Wolverine football, basketball and hockey related. All the other extraneous whining that occurs on this board about format, titles, doubles posts, etc is exhausting. Get over it....move on.
September 17th, 2021 at 6:05 PM ^
Our obsession changed to "titles" after jiggly bits became faux pas.
September 17th, 2021 at 2:54 PM ^
"bruh" what part about ANYTHING that I wrote looks "serious" to you? lol I posted a video of Michael Scott singing "Goodbye Toby."
September 17th, 2021 at 2:43 PM ^
My guess is that people now post ops in the same style as those tabloid ads. Can't have news without someone trying to influence public opinion anymore.
September 17th, 2021 at 3:17 PM ^
Yeah... but did you hear about the ex-UM QB who set a record throwing 10 TD passes in a game? Maybe I'll post it to the board (again). It worked out so well last time despite having an informative, descriptive title.
September 17th, 2021 at 4:28 PM ^
Wait til he throws for 11 tomorrow!

Crazy that with Lively, Kentucky will have the 1st, 2nd, 6th, and 17th players of 2022, and lead for the 7th.
That's Fab 5 esque.
September 17th, 2021 at 2:56 PM ^
Also crazy? That they'll get bounced in the 2nd round of the 2023 tournament. :)
September 17th, 2021 at 3:15 PM ^
I've been using "Bonko" lately instead of crazy, and with good results.
Got it from Regis Philbin on the coffee table book episode of Seinfeld
September 17th, 2021 at 3:44 PM ^
I think the OP is saying Kentucky will have a very good class....which they kinda always do, but Coach Cal can't do crap with any of them so it's not a big deal.

Calipari currently leads all colleges with 32 players in the NBA. Duke has 29 and NC is next with 13. Michigan is tied at #4 with a group of 4 others-with 11.
The fact is that Calipari does an outstanding job of preparing his recruits for the NBA. These top kids do not care who does or does not like Calipari. Here, the reality for them is quite clear.
Diabate is near Lively level talent-and at the same position. This likely figures into Lively's decision-I, however, don't believe it should. Juwan is an elite coach who knows how to employ elite talent. It would be fascinating to see Diabate and Livley on the floor together-we would certainly dominate in the paint defensively-OMG!!! I hope Lively reconsiders and choose the intangibles that Michigan and Juwan offer.
"Everyone" here (this board) prefers how Juwan Howard is going about this business-certainly, at least, I do. I believe Juwan is doing a tremendous job of ascending Michigan basketball to an elite level...and doing it with great integrity and purpose.
EDIT: In looking at conference representation in the NBA-led by the ACC at 88, SEC at 84 then PAC12 at 65. The B1G at 44 would seem to be very ripe for the picking to be dominated by a program that moves to a more elite level. With MSU declining and no other program ascending, I like both the possibility and probability of the position that Michigan is in-to become "that" program.

I don't think he even visited Michigan. So he gone!
September 17th, 2021 at 2:14 PM ^
The title makes it sound like he decommitted.
September 17th, 2021 at 2:25 PM ^
No concerns about Juwan and MBB recruiting efforts. Whatsoever. Probably a good several years of sitting back and enjoying the annual ride deep into the tourney. Enjoy it.
September 17th, 2021 at 2:42 PM ^
I prefer that he be in the maize and blue-glad we have the talent to defend him pretty well...hello Mr. Diabate. Dereck, it's never to late to change your mind.
September 17th, 2021 at 2:52 PM ^
Will be crazy, he will be eating subs.
September 17th, 2021 at 2:53 PM ^
Who would’ve ever dreamed that Calipari would land another 5 star player?
September 17th, 2021 at 4:10 PM ^
In a surprising twist there is now a crystal ball in for Duke for Lively.
September 17th, 2021 at 4:44 PM ^
Fire Juwan Howard!
September 17th, 2021 at 6:24 PM ^
Kentucky has a great class right now...
If they got Lively as well, that would be unbelievable... Michigan's only shot would have been if he took an official...without that happening, chances were very low...
Not 100% sure if he will play in college though, but we'll see.
September 18th, 2021 at 8:49 AM ^
Also a Kentucky fan, he isn’t coming to Lexington. Duke has his attention.
Theory is some bagmen are stepping up for the new coach to maintain the winning tradition at Duke (no surprise).

Either Scheyer can coach or he can’t. Talent alone doesn’t win in college basketball.
