he just announced tonight he'll be attending a high school in California for his Sr. year.

if he commits. DeJulius will be the PG while Washington will be the SG with some flexibility to play PG

flexibility. But we always have a true PG on the floor. Sometimes two. Even when it's meant playing a walkon. Whenever I hear combo guard, I just assume that means SG at Michigan.
Not a comment on Washington, who is a HS PG, but many recruits for the 2 and 3 seem to want to be told they can play the 1 too.
With Simpson, Brooks and DeJulius next year. Can't see where we're going to find minutes for another. We really need a true SG in the 2018 class, but it's not clear that we have a chance at one.
I'm not sure how the minutes would be distributed if this kid commits. I do see a strong need for him though and my guess is someone like X (undersized PG w/ questionable shooting skills) would be the odd man out.
Duane is the son of former New Jersey Net and LA Clipper, Duane Washington Sr. He's also the nephew of former LA Laker Derrick Fisher.
Extremely close with Xavier Tillman and Marcus Bingham Jr., both MSU commits for 2018.

Think there is a decent chance Ahrens ends up at Michigan. Not a lock, but certainly a decent chance.
Any thoughts on Ahrens quality? Especially in comparison to our other offers.
short story is that he is my least favorite of the remaining offers.
