MBB - George Washington III withdraws name from portal
How does it not make sense? UM has almost no players.
Getting back a freshman who might have potential still is helpful for the roster and one less player to have to have transfer in to fill out a roster
Seems like his game is well suited to May's system with guards... Lets hope!!
This is great news! Didn’t shoot well last year but you could definitely see his potential.
While his stats weren't great last season, he passed the eye test on both sides of the floor imo similar to how Kobe Bufkin looked his freshman year. Fingers crossed Washington can make a similar jump
There is a gif of George Washington driving a Dodge into some redcoats above. This website, which was programmed in BASIC in 1981 by an MSU dropout on absinthe, seems to be having trouble with it.
I am so pleased by this development I am going to overlook those sunglasses in his return pic.

FOUR MORE YEARS!
FOUR MORE YEARS!
crossing back over the delaware river.
Nice. Hope he comes back and can get on the court and be productive; it still felt like he was pretty far away last season but guys do tend to make the leap after their freshmen seasons.
Coach May obviously wants him here and must see great potential. So this is very good news. This last year was an unfortunate mess and not helpful in evaluating his talent.
Exactly the kind of 3 or 4 year guys we need to be getting and keeping. Welcome back Pres.

Anyone else forget he was an OSU decommit? Anyways, good to refresh on his profile.
I'd put approximately zero weight on his freshman stats. In part because freshman, in part because of team-wide dysfunction, in part because stats in garbage time are frequently terrible - I mean the game's over so why not chuck up that off balance 30 footer?
That's not the same as saying I think he's going to be great, or even a contributor. Dunno. Useful data on that subject is 404 file not found. But he's a reasonable lottery ticket to hold onto and let's see how much better he gets after an offseason. I wouldn't bet against him being a 3rd/4th guard on the back end of the rotation next season and an actual playable B1G-caliber SG when he's a junior or senior.
Admissions has the opportunity to do the funniest thing possible.
Good. Persuading a player who's been at school a year to stick around means certainty for a spot, one less to spend time & energy on recruiting/portalling in. May he have a big sophomore leap.
It's not like it's easy for us to get transfers anyway. I don't hate it.
Will admissions let him back in? Probably tell him his grades need to improve and he has to take classes this summer
For those who aren't enthused, do you at all care that he was a top 100 recruit? I get that guys are mis-ranked a lot, but from what we've heard it sounds like he's exactly the kind of guy Dusty May can work with over the course of three years. And none of us were excited about Stu Douglass or Zack Novak when we signed them either. With a virtually empty roster, keeping a spot for GWIII for the distant future seems like a good move.
Any word on Abraham Lincoln?!?!?!??!?!
Lead us, Georgie!
