MBB: 5 Star Guard Jaden Springer commits to Tennessee
Michigan was in the final 3 along with Memphis but this is no surprise as every crystal ball predicted him to Tennessee. He's a top 20 player and now gives Tennessee a recruiting class of 2 5 stars and another top 40 player.
Michigan is now waiting on top 50 SG/SF Moses Moody, top 40 C Hunter Dickinson and top 30 C Mark Williams to commit in the coming weeks.
Williams is committing in 9 days an widely expected to go to Duke.
Dickinson is down to Duke, Michigan, ND and FSU. There's no date for his announcement but experts think he is going to commit after Williams does since the thought is he doesn't want to go to the same school as another top 40 C in his class. He has said he wants to commit before his HS season starts. There's no definitive feel on who leads but Michigan is the common thought.
Moody is down to Arkansas (home state) and Michigan. He has not committed to signing during the early period but it's very possible he does. The thought here is that he wants to leave the state (he currently plays HS at Montverde Academy in Florida with Zeb Jackson) but that family wants him at home. Michigan has a good shot here but the longer this goes on the more uncertain it gets, especially with new schools like Virginia trying to get in the mix.
Longer term Michigan has a few targets for the late signing period as well, namely 5 stars Nimari Burnett and Joshua Christopher.

Good luck to him. Some other star player will get the benefit of playing for Howard in the spot Springer could have had.

you can have Springer

BECAUSE WE STILL GOT THE HEISMAN hahahahahaha

Amazing all the good luck coming to Rick Barnes at Tennessee...

Winning helps a bit.

Didn't help Beilein much
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:54 PM ^
By all accounts, Beilein didn't help himself much on the recruiting trail in terms of relatability. Great coach, but sounds like he was basically a hardass in general despite Mr Rogers vibe that many people assumed. That's fine. He won a lot doing it his way. Maybe could've won a bit more, though, had he played the "show the love game" more. Who knows.
October 23rd, 2019 at 2:16 PM ^
The whole "you need to step on campus before I offer you" really didn't help because so many of these kids are collecting scholarship offers left & right then you have Beilein saying nope you can't have one until you come here first.
If I'm a kid, I don't know that I want to use an official visit to a place that won't bother offering me because it may be a wasted visit that I could have used to check out some other university

Getting Dickinson would be great.
Give Juwan time, the kids will come.

Say hi to Aubrey, assuming he is still there.

"F*&K Tenneseee" - Aubrey Solomon, February 2020, as he looks to transfer again
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:36 PM ^
He is having a bad season. I watched them a couple games and he looks lazy.
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:50 PM ^
Through 7 games this seasons he's got 17 tackles (4 solo, 13 assisted) and 1 sack with nothing turnover related. That's 2.5 tackles per game, 0.15 Sacks per game. I've not seen any of their games but that's certainly not impressive - similar to what he'd had his freshman year at Michigan. I didn't realize he only had 3 tackles last year at Michigan - I know he was hurt for a chunk and only played in 5 games but woof.
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:50 PM ^
Wasn't that his issue here?
Fat, dumb, and lazy is no way to go through life, son...
October 23rd, 2019 at 2:25 PM ^
No, it was all the coaches fault---Aubrey's Mom
October 23rd, 2019 at 2:27 PM ^
Literally the problem here. He was pissed off that he was told to stop eating chicken fingers.
October 23rd, 2019 at 2:35 PM ^
I dunno man, that seems like kind of a cheap shot. Most of your posts are fact based, do you have any evidence to back that up? I'm not saying it would shock me, but tearing down kids based on innuendo is not a good look
October 23rd, 2019 at 2:40 PM ^
Aren’t you fat? Maybe a few less chicken fingers would do you some good too.
October 23rd, 2019 at 3:00 PM ^
i heard a chicken used its fingers to try to gouge out shea patterson's eye.

No I’m just big boned.
Pretty much all of America is big boned tho

No, pretty much all of America thinks gravy is its own food group.
October 23rd, 2019 at 8:11 PM ^
Listen youre all fatties and you should just give me all of the chicken tenders for your own sake. And some Jets ranch too, please.

Gotta love how the good ol SEC has became a force in basketball recruiting as well.
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:30 PM ^
$EC
fixed it for you
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:38 PM ^
I'm not sure that is the case here with this particular one but yes that was my point with my post above.
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:48 PM ^
Yeah, they went out and hired a bunch of really good coaches. That league has drastically improved over the last few years.
October 23rd, 2019 at 2:22 PM ^
Cal, Barnes, Oats, Musselman, Pearl, Crean, and White are all very good coaches.
I personally feel that part of the allure of coaching in the SEC is because people don't care about rules as much down there, but these are all high quality coaches.
October 23rd, 2019 at 3:46 PM ^
It's a weird mix of good coaches and, well, guys who know how to get things by various means (in particular Cal and Pearl).
It is nice to see the SEC be a bit better at basketball after what felt like forever it being UK, Florida, and nobody else.
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:26 PM ^
Thanks for the thorough, fact-filled post OP, this was a great update.
Buuuut are you sure you wouldn't rather post a meandering rant on your personal opinion about the football team?
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:31 PM ^
Great summary, thanks
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:33 PM ^
No surprise.
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:35 PM ^
Where are all those guys that were bitching about Howard not signing anyone, and saying that maybe he was shooting to high?
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:50 PM ^
Not sure what the point of this comment is. This would have been appropriate if Howard received the commitment from Springer.
October 23rd, 2019 at 2:24 PM ^
Maybe it wasn't sarcasm. Maybe he genuinely wants to know since this would be the time to come out and say it.
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:39 PM ^
Hopefully Howard can reel in Dickinson as well.
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:41 PM ^
Is burnett in the 2020 class or the 2021 class?
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:44 PM ^
This kid is so smooth. Does anyone know who the kid with the googles is he keeps dishing to?
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:52 PM ^
Do want. It's been said before but IMO probably the most important 2020 recruit for Howard.
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:57 PM ^
Definitely. Need some guard depth IMO
October 23rd, 2019 at 3:16 PM ^
Depth!!! What the hell are you talking about??? This kid is an elite player-superior PG skills who can be a SG as well. He is a deadly combination of talent. If he comes he will start-and VERY early his freshman year...he would start this year. The kid is damn good.
October 23rd, 2019 at 6:25 PM ^
Not what I meant. I meant he pushes everyone down a spot on the depth chart by coming here, helping our guard depth.
October 23rd, 2019 at 1:55 PM ^
Not sure who he is. But why don’t you try,”Googling” Nimari’s team and find the kids number. Good luck with your searches.
October 23rd, 2019 at 2:01 PM ^
Looks like his name is Wilhelm Breidenbach (not a joke). He's a 2021 recruit, 6-9 PF/C from CA. Ranked 89th in the composite with offers from Cal, USC, Vandy and Nebraska.

Other than Howard (mostly) and Saddi, I've not heard anything about Martelli or Eisley recruiting. Howard will resonate with the bigs but Eisley, who played in the NBA, could work magic with guards. Martelli has a ton of connections as well. Just havent heard anything about those two.
October 23rd, 2019 at 2:25 PM ^
The main reason Michigan was in the top 3 for Springer was Martelli. Martelli was the head coach at St. Joes for former first round pick DeAndre Bembry, who is Springer's cousin.
