Maryland game time speculation

Submitted by 1985sec4row23 on October 25th, 2023 at 9:51 PM

Any speculation as to what time the Maryland game will be 11/18?  Trying to make plans for that day, and not sure if I should carve out daytime or nighttime.

Thanks

Do we know who’s carrying the game? Peacock, NBC, ABC, Fox,Big Ten? I would guess noon on Big Ten or 3:30 on the others. There’s no way it would be the night game on Fox would it?

Michigan is the big noon game the week prior and the week after.  Don't think Fox will get them for this game.  Not sure if they could still be at noon on another network or not.

Fuck Ryan Day!!!

Just making sure this is represented in every thread.

Guessing big noon, they did it last year four in a row, and we are far more interesting than any program in America right now.

Noon on FOX makes most sense.  Caveat that it's only an educated guess.

The Big XII could theoretically fill the Big Noon slot, but Oklahoma @ BYU would be 10 local, BYU may not want a kick that early.  Texas is at Iowa State, but U-M will probably be higher ranked and more attractive than Texas.

Other B1G games that week:

  • Minnesota @ Ohio State.  This has to be on BTN, based on already slotted-games, in-order for OSU to have contractually-required 2 BTN games.
  • Nebraska @ Wisconsin.  Projections/leaks from this summer had this as the NBC night game - I'll guess Wisconsin pre-agreed to this.  Nobody really wants a late November night game, but Wisconsin/Packers fans are used to the cold.
  • Illinois @ Iowa, Rutgers @ Penn State, MSU @ Indiana, Purdue @ Northwestern - these games all feel like FS1 and BTN-type filler.

CBS has no B1G game this week.

November 18th? You’re being pretty optimistic my man. By that time an “anonymous outside investigative firm” will have “anonymously” leaked the location where Harbaugh hides his serial killer trophies (mostly right pinky toes, I’ve heard). He’ll be arraigned in front of four-score of pinky toes and that’s that…

I think FOX might hesitate to pick this up as their Big Noon game since that would be 3 weeks in a row showing Michigan (didn't stop them with Colorado though).  NBC would probably like it at night but I don't think we can play at night again in November since we get Purdue at night.  That leaves the BTN noon window or the 3:30 time slots.

CBS would probably grab it for a noon time slot with Georgia/Tennessee likely their 3:30.  Any network exec would love maybe the two best teams in the sport back to back late in the year.

Michigan was the FOX Big Noon game four times in a row last season. They love big names so I don't think three times in a row would be a factor.

NBC would probably like it at night but I don't think we can play at night again in November since we get Purdue at night.

Because it's the third week of November, both parties would have to agree to a night game, and I doubt Michigan would.

NittanyFan above said that CBS has no B1G inventory that week so based on the other matchups and network availability, I'm going to guess it's a Big Noon game on FOX.

There are three SEC  on November 18th with noon kickoffs already set.  Big Noon and / or Game Day could be at one of these - and, I know Georgia travels to Tennessee for a 3:30 kickoff.

Those three games:

  • Chattanooga @ Alabama,
  • Southern Miss @ Mississippi State, and
  • Abilene Christian @ Texas A&M

There are a few other really challenging matchups, but the kickoff times haven’t been confirmed.

  • UL Monroe @ Ole Miss,
  • Georgia State @ LSU,
  • New Mexico State @ Auburn, and
  • Florida International @ Arkansas

An absolutely incredible slate of games in the SEC.

The ticket prices for some of these are unbelievable - there are ten (10) games that weekend involving SEC teams - tickets are less than $10 / seat (plus fees) for six of them.  You can get a UL Monroe vs Ole Miss ticket for $ 3.00.

That’s the SEC 8 game conference schedule in action.  I guess it just means more…

Hoping it's as early as possible. I have to be in Detroit for the Lions the next day but I want to go to this. Flying from DC/BAL to Detroit after a noon kickoff will be incredibly tricky so I'll probably have to drive the 8+ hours so it can't be a night game.
