With Martin Commitment Michigan Moves Up To #3 In Scouts Recruiting Team Rankings

Submitted by MichiganStan on

I know the compsite rankings are generally held in higher regard but I thought this was pretty cool. We're only 6 points behind Alabama. Strong finish may be able to take the #2 spot

1. Georgia (4,883)

2. Alabama (4,675)

3. Michigan (4,669)

4. Ohio State (4,490)

5. Oklahoma (4,464)

I think the problem is when you use one system to compare classes for teams that are clearly in the top 10 versus say comparing Illinois and Iowa.  At the very top, I think it makes some sense to emphasize quality / averages for the top and give more weight to quantity down further.

I wonder if there'd be a good system for calculating the average of the top X guys in a class, and then past the number you combine the score with the rest of the class where quantity and quality are a little more evenly weighted. (unless something like that already exists?)

Obviously it would vary on the player and school but what's more "valuable" one 5 star player, two 4 stars, or a 4 star and two 3 stars, etc. ?

First and foremost beat Michigan State. That leaves Florida in Texas,

at Penn State, at Wisconsin, and Ohio State at home.

Florida is iffy and non-conference anyway. I feel Penn State is most attainble of the

B10 games. If you look at Penn State crossover schedule, it is much

tougher than 2016.

At Wisconsin and home to Bucks we get a split.

If we beat Bucks and PSU we win the east. Lets say Wisconsin is a loss.

We go 10-2 and 8-1 in B10. That would be great in a transition year.

With bigger and better seasons ahead.

What's up with the Clemson and Stanford recruiting classes this year? Still only at 14 commits each, compared with our 27. Did they have huge classes the last few years and have to pull back this year?

Stanford in particular though is pulling some quality players. 3 - 5*, 6 - 4* and 5 - 3*. Clemson, not too shabby with 11 - 4* and 3 - 3* (Scout stats).
