Maize dominance

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Once again, the Maize claims victory in the spring game.

Second straight year and the 16th time in the last 22 years.

Kyle Seychel's kick was the first walkoff game-winning FG in a Michigan Spring Game since Pete Elezovic gave White a 21-20 win in 1993.

The White team was renamed the Maize in 2010.

The italicized results are from scored spring scrimmages. So if you wanna look at strictly JUST the spring GAMES, Maize is 15-2 against Blue since Harbaugh turned the tide in the series back in 1984 when he beat the Blue team.

...But I keep thinking that this is some sort of long con. WD is probably actually some sort of independently wealthy playboy. Surrounded by women and drugs. And fucking with all of us here on mgoblog is one of his hobbies. Or maybe he's paying someone to research and post all of this minutia?

Dude spends a great deal of his free time researching and thinking about sports and sports-related stuff. He then goes to sporting events where it is more likely he'll meet a fellow enthusiast. This is in addition to the usual women-getting opportunities he has.

It's a coherent strategy. If he just found a way to monetize his fandom, or at least to get it to pay for itself, he'd be totally set.

People criticizing others for obsessing about sports on a sports board???  Your snide post is more out of line than the OP.

I guess I haven't paid enough attention to understand where all the anti-WD sentiment comes from, but the posts that attack him every time he posts when he posts on UM sports are really getting out of hand.  You guys just need to give it a rest.

Let WD be WD.

Absolutely no reason to give him a hard time.  No one else does this kind of post.  It is a public service.

Besides, the 'spend your time finding a girl' criticism is hollow.  There are apps for that.  No longer a time consuming process of networking and set-ups from a small circle of friends.  Leaves plenty of time for assembling the kind of cool data we find in the 'Blue vs. Maize/White' post.

Keep on truckin', WD.

Exactly. They are used like Uber at this point. There is a soulless sortless sorting process whereby people will churn through lots of other people and you may get dropped. But the people are quality. At least in large cities teeming with attractive single people.

Black tea for me. Tummy is a little upset, and I'm still trying to figure out Gucci Mane's joke about my Italian heritage.

NBA playoffs started today and there wasn't even an open thread for that, but we have a spring game record thread. NTTAWWT. Just pointing it out.

I saw this story online:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/glitch-sound-fails-radiohead-coachella-003301055.html

The experimental rock icons, booked for the third time to lead the premier festival in the California desert, played most of two songs in awkward, inadvertent silence with frontman Thom Yorke oblivious that the audience could no longer hear.

In my opinion, it's the best they've sounded in years. Buh-dum-bump. Thank you, thank you, I'll be here all weekend.

but what does a Maize or Blue team victory mean in terms of the success of the Michigan football program during the regular season and Bowl/post-season? Probably very little. Of far greater importance are such things as the unveiling of the early enrollees and redshirted players, competition for various stating and backup positions, and staying relatively healthy as a team while making progress towards the following season's success. And, of course, it gives Coach Harbaugh and his staff invaluable film footage to study. But other than that it determines such things as the celebratory meal and bragging rights to the players, did it make or break anyone's day here that Maize won or Blue lost?

Reminds me of an episode of Undercover Boss I just watched. It was the CEO of Menchie's. He went to a dairy farm to check out his milk supplier. The fellow he was shadowing had to inspect the cows feces to check on the health of the cow. He put a glove on and reached inside the cows' asses to check on temperature and consistency. Then, they went to help deliver a baby calf. I know, miracle of life and all that, but I'm staying away from cows for the time being.
