Most college hockey cheers are taken from other schools. Michigan technically got started by stealing cheers from Cornell after a series in 1991. So even though Miami brings nothing to the table in terms of originality or increasing popularity of cheers, crapping upon other schools in college hockey for "stealing cheers" is largely frowned upon.

web site, the school offers undergraduate and master's degrees, but no DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) degrees.  This is a big step down from a School of Music or a Conservatory/Institute that offers these degree programs.  Miami has a decent Music Ed program but I don't know offhand if any individual instrument studios are elite.

Their pep band has a few "shooting star"-type players who play eye-wateringly sharp.

That was my first thought when I tried to rationalize a loss like this. We've been back and forth already but the thing that makes me more optimistic is that the stupid losses have mostly been by a goal or two (2-3 WMU, 1-2 Mia, 2 close ones in Marquette). I think we'll see the team get better as the season goes on

But still, Miami has been a thorn in our side for years and I wish we would stop losing to them

I think the kids are still not understanding that you have to play well every game in college. Can't take any games off. We've come out flat most of the frustrating games.

Miami is a head scratcher. What makes it worse is I just simply cannot stand them or their coach.

I listened on the radio, announcers mentioned that Hunwick was pissed and talking to the ref after the first goal and that it looked like goalie interference on replay.  The goal stood.

After the game, some players got into it.  Guptill was charged with grabbing the facemask and given a game misconduct.  On Miami's side, McKenzie was charged with grabbing the facemask and given a game misconduct.  Vogelhuber of Mia was given a game DQ after the game as well for reasons not listed in the box score.  Not sure of the difference between a DQ and a misconduct, but I think we will not see any of the three tomorrow night.

Sounds like we came out a bit flat, not creating a lot of offensive opportunities.  Refs swallowed their whistles for the most part.  Hard to really tell without the video.

Go Blue and win this next one.

Vogelhuber got a DQ for "leaving the bench" so basically he got off the bench too early in order to go fet in on the fight. So yes, Vogelhuber will not be playing tonight but if McKenzie and Guptill only got misconducts they will both still be playing. Also, Miami will most likely have Austin Czarnik (one of their starting freshman) back on the ice tonight - he sat out last night for a game DQ from their series last weekend against Alaska.
