Damn, I was secretly pulling for him. Good luck wherever you land next Lovie! He’s one of those dudes that I just can’t help but like and feel a little bit bad for even when his record sucked and his firing is warranted.

Plenty of good, likeable people get fired from jobs they do poorly at.

Speaking of teams in the west, Michigan supposedly will play Iowa in the crossover game. Which makes zero sense since you would assume Indiana would get them. Indiana and Purdue might play for their crossover game if they can make it happen.

Pete Thamel's initial search list:

  • Army HC Jeff Monken
  • Buffalo HC Lance Leipold
  • Former Wisconsin HC Bret Bielema
  • Kent State HC Sean Lewis
  • Iowa State OC Tom Manning
  • Ball State HC Mike Neu
  • Wisconsin DC Jim Leonhard
  • Cincinnati DC Marcus Freeman

I vote Freeman and get him to hire as many OSU assistants as possible, especially Brian Hartline as OC. Leipold or Monken is probably the best choice however.

I am saying that this is going to become a controversy. Journos  are going to see two black head coaches getting fired when there are already so few of them and two white coaches keeping their jobs. Obviously each school and coach have unique situations to where making it a literal black and white issue is challenging,

But I am almost certain that this is going to become a controversy if Harbaugh stays.

I think it is a good look that coaches are hired and fired strictly on their merits and accomplishments, regardless of their skin color. No need to create controversy where there should not be. Let’s honor MLK and not bring race in when it is simply not a factor in these decisions.

And, for the record, it only became a controversy on this board when you brought it up.

It isn’t a controversy. I am saying that it will become one. I am almost positive that this will happen. You can like it or dislike it, I don’t give a fuck. Getting your undies in a bundle because you don’t like someone saying what they think is going to happen based on how people have reacted in the past is silly.

If Michigan keeps Harbaugh in this landscape, they will most-likely double or triple the time it takes to get back to being competitive.

Harbaugh's shelf life at Michigan has expired.  Even if he replaces both coordinators and most coaches, recruiting has no strategy or plan and Jay Harbaugh needs to go too. How can JH. Convince top coordinators to come here with his recent history?
