Lloyd Carr speaking in Toledo area for fundraiser.

I am part of the UM Club of Greater Toledo.  Lloyd is coming down for a dinner and speaking to raise money for our annual scholarship. We give it out to someone from the Toledo area to defray the out state tuition.  It is $51,200 non-resident vs $15,558 resident.  I was determined to be non-resident my first year of dental school and then given resident status after that year.  Long story, but I grew up in Toledo and would spend half of the year with my dad who lived just over the line in Lambertville.  In 1992 it was "only" a $10,000 difference.  As with any other state, U of M loses a lot of amazing candidates from the NW Ohio that cannot attend because of costs.  Academic scholarships, even for the brightest of kids are not plentiful.  It is a hard pill to swallow when you live only 45 minutes from campus.  There will be silent auction and 50/50 and plenty of time will be given for Q&A.

Right, because everything for everyone should come to a screeching halt based upon on the senseless act of 1 person.  Ummm... that's how the terrorists win.

Besides, this was scheduled in advance...

1.  In the weeks leading up to this, did the Alumni Association have knowledge there would be an attack on 4 August and press on anyway?

2.  It's not like as you're suggesting that someone from the Alumni Association said, "you know what, someone just shot up the town, why not have a fund raiser while emotions are high so we can cash in and boost the scholarship fund.  Do you think we can get Carr down here same day?  After all, Toledo isn't that far of a drive.  Make it happen Sparky."

Use your head before you speak.

The prices are really confusing to me, I must be pretty dumb. What’s meant by the deductible? Also, if you buy a table, do the guests still need to pay for a ticket or does it cover everyone at the table?
