Little Michigan Man Needs Help

Submitted by ReverendBlueJeans on November 10th, 2022 at 2:36 PM

MGoFriends,

This is my first post, so please forgive me if it's done incorrectly or inappropriate for this forum. This is my two-year old son and fellow Michigan man, Finneas. An MRI recently discovered that he has a golf ball sized tumor on his brain and multiple more running down his spine.

We're at Children's Hospital in LA as he undergoes surgery today to remove the mass on his brain. He and I watched the Rutgers game together on Saturday and we were on our way to the hospital Sunday.

I'm reaching out for all the prayers and positivity available from our fellow Michigan fans. I appreciate your support and the joy this forum has brought me over the years. Go blue!

Thinking of you and little Phinn! My little baby Quinn was born on Tuesday. She has a little jaundice so they took her to the special care unit so we can’t take her home when we get discharged today. That was a huge punch. Can’t even begin to imagine what you are going through. Stay strong!

RBJ, I cannot imagine what you and your family are going through, and so sorry to hear about his medical issues as no family should have to endure this at this age, or any age, but especially a two-year old.  😢

You all will definitely be in my prayers tonight and please keep us posted as we want to hear some good news after the surgery 🙏🏽.  GO FINNEAS!!!!

p.s.  I shared this post with the family, and Mrs. EGJ had a beautiful comment, "God will be doing his surgery."  From her lips to God's hands.

Unfortunately I know what you're going through.  My thoughts and prayers are with you and we will be cheering for Finneas at the Big House on Saturday.  I am assuming you're the father.  Take good care of his mother.

You'll all be in our prayers Pastor - know that all is in the Lord's plan.  Let the BLUE know if you have any needs we can meet beyond what you've requested.

RBJ- That's a pretty terrifying ordeal but I'm glad to hear he's out of surgery and everything is looking OK. Prayers for your son.

Did he have a GBM?  I'm not a doctor so please take this with a grain of salt...but, my cousin had a GBM several years ago and the surgery was successful. And he was able to participate in a clinical trial for a treatment called DC-Vax (essentially a vaccine that trains the body to recognize and attack the cancer cells so they don't come back). It was developed by a top neuro-oncologist at UCLA. The company has reported significant trial data (seems to be working for my cousin so far, fingers crossed), and while it's not a cure, it may be a significant step forward. I've heard they may conduct trials for children and they may try it on other solid tumors as well. I'm not sure if it's the right solution for your son but it may be worth asking your doctors about, maybe they can get him in the trials.

I'll say some prayers and send some vibes for your son. (I can tell you a  lot about the treatment, but I'll stop there. But if you want more info, just let me know).

[EDIT: I just saw your contact earlier in the thread, I'll reach out now.]
