while we're at it.
March 20th, 2014 at 12:09 PM ^
so I was pretty confused to say the thread say "Beat Ohio" instead of "Beat State"
March 20th, 2014 at 10:29 AM ^
Sorry cant go there with you. Come tournament time it's "B1G Uber Alles" until somebody plays Michigan.
Go Blue (And Huskers and Spartans and Badgers and Bucks)!
March 20th, 2014 at 10:31 AM ^
I'm with you. And for the most part I agree, for everyone but sparty. I just can't do it. Everyone picking them as a Final Four team and a lot picking them to win...i'd like to see them make as early an exit as possible. I wish I could explain it further...
March 20th, 2014 at 10:33 AM ^
Normally I'd say 'everyone but Ohio', but MSU is really deserving of getting bounced this year, what with the complaining, overranking, and Izzoing.
March 20th, 2014 at 10:37 AM ^
There's an Izzo promises to not complain about injuries or refs article in the paper today...and then he makes a preemptive ref whine. I'd link to it, but fuck Izzo. The only thing I want to read about him is how excited he is for the 2014-15 team to take the court with weird guys and a pack of gum.
March 20th, 2014 at 10:34 AM ^
Sparty bball is like ohio football for me. Never, ever, ever, under no circumstances do I ever root for sparty bball to win. NEVER. This years unwarranted slobberfest just makes it that much more intense.
March 20th, 2014 at 10:42 AM ^
the comparison between ohio football and sparty basketball being made, I'll offer this up to Coach Izzo:
March 20th, 2014 at 10:33 AM ^
Not for me. I root hard against State and Ohio all tournamnet long. I could care less about how well our conference plays in the tournament, as it's completely meaningless at the end of the day.
March 20th, 2014 at 10:38 AM ^
Same for me, especially since their entire fanbases are rooting HARD against Michigan at every opportunity. I'm past the point in my life where I can root for Ohio or MSU under any circumstances.
Them aside, I'd like to see Nebrasketball and Wisco do well, along with Michigan of course. Iowa was a huge letdown last night, but that blown lead was a microcosm of their whole season, wrapped into 20 minutes.
March 20th, 2014 at 11:01 AM ^
How much less could you care? Why do you care so much? Inquiring minds want to know.
March 20th, 2014 at 11:11 AM ^
He wants to seem an aloof, stony-eyed old thing, but deep down he cares, man, he cares. Don't press him.
March 20th, 2014 at 11:11 AM ^
But it's not meaningless. Take a look a the SEC in football - one of the key reasons they have dominated the media landscape is their united front in advancing the concept that SEC football is better than anyone else. The "SEC, SEC" chant is heard at all bowl games and it's resonates everywhere.
Look - I hate MSU as much as anybody so if anybody has to lose I hope it's them. But I do root for all the B1G teams as it helps MY team's RPI, strength of schedule and every other metric when we beat them.
March 20th, 2014 at 12:04 PM ^
Tennessee fans were also chanting ESSS EEEE SEEE after last night's win. Jerks.
March 20th, 2014 at 12:12 PM ^
"YALL. Our 3rd best team had to get in on a play-in game! ESS EEE CEEE!"
You meant you COULDN'T care less, but I know see what you're saying and agree with you. Fellow conference teams don't do anything good for Michigan except make it harder to win the title if in fact they were to meet somewhere in the tournament.
Nope. It's not the same as it is with football. The Big Ten is the best conference in the country, so we want all Big Ten teams to lose so Michigan avoids playing them. When it comes to the tournament, no one gives a shit about strength of schedule or schedule prestige. We want the easiest road possible to get to the title game.

OSU is officially on upset alert, I heard.
March 20th, 2014 at 10:32 AM ^
Won't somebody please think of the brackets.
March 20th, 2014 at 10:34 AM ^
But it'd sure be fun if they did.
March 20th, 2014 at 10:57 AM ^
You're right, of course - the Buckeyes more than likely do not flub this game, although they are not the runaway favorite in a lot of simulations. If the stumble early, it's probably against Syracuse, and indeed, I went Syracuse in that matchup in all but one of the pools in which I am participating, as I recall (I don't have them all in front of me). The one where I had them upsetting Syracuse is the one I let my son draw Power Rangers on.
March 20th, 2014 at 12:05 PM ^
Ohio's offense will be a tire fire against Syracuse's zone. Craft might have 10 airballs.
March 20th, 2014 at 12:10 PM ^
this is what one of those look like:
I love how he kept his arms up for so long.
Yes, Aaron...you air balled that. Stop looking to be in disbelief. You really do have a terrible shot.
I also love that as he launched it, a typical crowd would jump up in anticipation...the crowd from what I can see didn't even move. Nothing. Nada.
In addition, I love it when people start their posts with the words "I love..."

I've got Dayton outscoring Ohio and then beating the Syracuse zone. That's what billion dollar dreams are made of.
March 20th, 2014 at 11:08 AM ^
Let's Go Blue! To hell with the rest. Burn the boats.
March 20th, 2014 at 11:45 AM ^
One of my best friends from college grew up in Miamisburg (just south of Dayton) and claims that Dayton is his number one team, even though he's a huge oh*o fan too. I bet he loves this matchup. One of his teams is guaranteed a heartbreaking loss. Awesome.
Also, in any sport, I will never, under any circumstances, root for oh*o or msu. Not gonna happen. Not saying anyone is a bad fan if they do, but I simply can't bring myself to do it, and won't attempt to force something that's so unnatural.
March 20th, 2014 at 11:56 AM ^
the BIGGEST reason that differentiates sparty from ohio in basketball is Izzo. I can't stand either fanbase, but Matta as a human being and coach I am okay with when compared to Izzo. Just can't stand the man. I'll be okay with ohio winning a few games, as long as they lose when my bracket says they should.
March 20th, 2014 at 12:29 PM ^
Not so much
March 20th, 2014 at 12:16 PM ^
March 20th, 2014 at 12:20 PM ^
I was starting to worry Dayton wasn't going to score

You can tell ohio is away from B10 officials already.
Dayton cooling off but only down 1.
WTF Wisconsin is up 51-25 on American? It was like tied at 25 earlier.
Shit.
Thanks Craft!
can last for another half hour or so.
I'd like to think this thread helped send Dayton some good karma. My bracket is busted but oh well! Go Dayton!
