Left side strong side vasectomy
Fellow mgobloggers,
just to change the narrative on the board, a question or option for storytelling on the board. I had a vasectomy yesterday, and curious on the board. I know there have been precious What To Expect posts on the board but no live action. It boils down to three steps: poke, snip, burn.
right side
Poke: isn’t awful. A small pinch and some aggressive play on the ball. Uncomfortable for sure, but not worthy of a flag
snip: Right side snip was ok, must have been my weak swimmers. Carried through.
burn: weird to see smoke while another person is doing work down there.
flip to left side
poke: equal weird and uncomfortable. Nothing weird but also not awesome
Snip: holy fuck did this light off The Christmas tree. I yelped a little and sweat a lot (and swore a little) by the far the worst part.
burn: same as the right, still weird but fine.
Recovery: Motrin and frozen peas and discomfort, a really gross looking crime scene below the belt, and some much needed down time
Compare/contrast as you see fit

Wow - super weird post. But still better than most.

Alt title: "Charles Bukowski describes his vasectomy."

This is on-topic, trust me:

Bukowski's "Post Office" online in PDF form ... the things you find on the WWW.
Go to page 12 (Chapter 7 of Part 1, I guess) for his description of dog dangers to postmen.

Oh I dunno man, one thing I do know is whenever a girl went down on me I always saw smoke!
December 12th, 2020 at 9:51 PM ^
But that's 'went'--past tense. Now that your dick has been determined to cause cancer, the Surgeon General has advised women against blowing you.
December 12th, 2020 at 10:06 PM ^
Haha, you observant mofo you.
More a figure of speech.
December 12th, 2020 at 10:08 PM ^
Or sucking. English is a great language. Suck and blow can mean the same thing.
December 12th, 2020 at 8:49 PM ^
I guess there's no snowflake post today.
December 12th, 2020 at 8:57 PM ^
Maybe no snowflakes but you did get frozen peas.

"Vasectomy Snowflakes: The Coaching" would have been a rather epic thread only because someone would probably call for Don Brown's sacking in there anyway.
December 12th, 2020 at 10:11 PM ^
I remain perplexed by the OP's reference to "much needed downtime." Humblebrag ?

My vasectomy was performed by an OSU grad.
December 12th, 2020 at 10:19 PM ^
Don't want to get Alina pregnant again?
December 13th, 2020 at 8:07 PM ^
Mine was also. I second-guessed wearing my Block M hat into the office that day when he said he was an OSU grad. Had in the back of my mind, that he was going to botch my surgery on purpose. The surgery went well. Still had to get 3 sperm counts and a more in-depth test, because of something like ancient or rare sperm.
Recovery sucked, but the snip-snip was successful

This cracked me up I know what to look forward to possibly next year
December 12th, 2020 at 8:51 PM ^
You mis-titled your post.
It should read "Summary of how the 2020 football season went."

I got that done as a gift to my wife more than a quarter century ago, and I didn't take any time off from work. For Christmas that year, all she wanted was for me to have a vasectomy and she also wanted to get a dog.
The surgery was easier.
She eventually got the dog, but it took a few more months to convince me.
It was well worth the temporary discomfort, with more frequent positive consequences.

When I had mine, the urologist didn't give the local anesthesia enough time before slicing open my bean bag. I felt the incision...
That's the sad part. The funny part is that the urologist is my best friend and neighbor. I have to see this bastard every day. ?

Under local, a patient one time asked "what's burning?"
My attending responded "You are."
December 12th, 2020 at 8:59 PM ^
The burning was for sure the weirdest part. He played music and was chatting about Michigan sports as he closed it up. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is a user on mgoblog, and if he is I say thanks for the fairly uncrazy procedure. Left snip was bad but besides that great work.
December 12th, 2020 at 9:05 PM ^
I don't know if I want a Michigan fan discussing Michigan sports while handling my wedding tackle.
At least he wasn't watching a game.
December 12th, 2020 at 10:58 PM ^
Got mine done on a Friday evening, and we listened to the local high school football game together. It was easier than making small talk while he cut into my jewel pouch.
December 12th, 2020 at 8:59 PM ^
This is why people so freely offer up their left nut.
December 12th, 2020 at 9:05 PM ^
Funny shit, my buddy's son just asked if I posted this... I had it done yesterday too. Little sore, but just played a few holes of simulator golf, so not too bad... Back to the couch for Netflix and chill my balls.
December 12th, 2020 at 9:05 PM ^
No vasectomy here, but I did have varicocele surgery down there.
Thank God they fully put me under for that one.
Still weird staring up into the attractive nurse’s eyes from the operating table, knowing they’re about to slice into you as soon as you’re unconscious.
December 12th, 2020 at 9:06 PM ^
I don't recall the left side/right side breakdown...and it didn't really feel all that bad later in the day I got it, or even the next day. HOWEVER, on the 3rd day, holy shit my balls were so swollen and sore. I was hurting, had a ton of bruising, and was gingerly walking. Mine took about 10 days to really start to improve honestly. And then suddenly it was just like back to normal.
Crazy thing was, I got mine at the end of February, two weeks before the shutdown. When I called the doc to ask about getting a count, they told me they were not doing it at that time because of Covid. I had to wait like another month or so until Illinois move to the less stringent restrictions.

35 here, no kids. Pretty confident that I am going to be getting this done soon- I have basically decided I don't want them. I know everyone loves them, but I'm not ready to lose 18 years of my life lol (sorry everyone with kids).
December 12th, 2020 at 9:14 PM ^
18 years?
Every parent just rolled their eyes. If it was just that...
December 13th, 2020 at 7:52 AM ^
Some of the best advice I ever received was that you MUST be 100% sure in your decision not to have kids. After our first two, I was 90% sure so I didn't get it done. Wasn't trying, but had the 3rd and he is the greatest blessing ever! Was then happy to get the snip while he was still in the womb.
December 13th, 2020 at 9:05 PM ^
If you want to be sure, make the decision to HAVE kids. My wife and I had hemmed and hawed about it for the last 8 years and finally she went off the pill. We wouldn't touch each other for 2-3 weeks until we finally admitted to each other it was a bad idea.
I don't remember any burning or anything I just remember the first couple days felt like I had been kicked in the nads. Hard. After that a couple few weeks of dull pain. Most unnecessary medical direction ever, no sex for a week.
I will say the lady nurse cleaning and iodining everything up before the doc did his thing was unnerving. She was attractive, but you know, at that point I could only really think "I wonder if those are real."
December 13th, 2020 at 9:31 PM ^
I got mine done end of October. Pretty easy all in all. Minor dull pain for a week. And I’m single and 46. Still date a lot, but realized I haven’t had kids and don’t want them. Best feeling ever since. Gotta do what’s right for you.
I’m here in Boston. Doc said to do the swimmer sample 3 mos after surgery. Is that the same advice the rest of you are getting?
December 13th, 2020 at 9:33 PM ^
Yessir. 3 months bring in the cup. That should be fun.
December 13th, 2020 at 9:57 PM ^
Haha, yeah. I’ve got the cup they gave me after surgery. It’s just chilling out in my bathroom for another month or so...
December 12th, 2020 at 9:12 PM ^
That first erection is PAINFUL!! The worst part is walking and feeling like you’re carrying a couple of bowling balls around. The surgery itself was fine. I could feel the tugging but that was it. I also took longer to recover, still rough walking around 5 days later. It was a good week before I was truly comfortable and probably 2 weeks before i had the desire for sex (not that it was effective yet, just talking about the desire returning).
I’ll never forget when I got it. Thursday in 2015 two days before Harbaughs first game on the road against Utah.
December 12th, 2020 at 9:19 PM ^
I'll never forget, like 4 days after it, I was taking the dog for a walk, and I did that little slow jog to get across the street before a car...and my balls were like "No! Just let the car hit you."
December 12th, 2020 at 9:22 PM ^
Not as painful as the last erection.
December 12th, 2020 at 9:15 PM ^
and this is why you do it under general anesthesia, not local
December 12th, 2020 at 9:18 PM ^
No way man. The Valium is great.
December 12th, 2020 at 9:20 PM ^
Just reading your post made my ball hurt.
December 12th, 2020 at 9:21 PM ^
Earlier this year, I was reading a column on someone's vasectomy experience, out of morbid curiosity, and all of the banner ads on the website were for kitchen knife sets.
December 13th, 2020 at 12:40 AM ^
My HMO likes to put images of healthy foods on their banners. When I got my email confirming my vasectomy appointment, the banner was a picture of a sliced avocado. A bit disturbing at the time
December 12th, 2020 at 9:28 PM ^
You know those ladies in your life can get their tubes tied. And from what I heard it is not nearly as painful and their up walking around like normal with no problems.
