Left side strong side vasectomy

Submitted by SoDakforUM on December 12th, 2020 at 8:40 PM

Fellow mgobloggers,

just to change the narrative on the board, a question or option for storytelling on the board.  I had a vasectomy yesterday, and curious on the board. I know there have been precious What To Expect posts on the board but no live action.  It boils down to three steps: poke, snip, burn.

right side

Poke: isn’t awful.  A small pinch and some aggressive play on the ball.  Uncomfortable for sure, but not worthy of a flag

snip:   Right side snip was ok, must have been my weak swimmers.   Carried through.

burn: weird to see smoke while another person is doing work down there.

flip to left side

poke: equal weird and uncomfortable. Nothing weird but also not awesome

Snip: holy fuck did this light off The Christmas tree.  I yelped a little and sweat a lot (and swore a little) by the far the worst part.

burn: same as the right, still weird but fine.

Recovery: Motrin and frozen peas and discomfort, a really gross looking crime scene below the belt, and some much needed down time

Compare/contrast as you see fit

Mine was also. I second-guessed wearing my Block M hat into the office that day when he said he was an OSU grad. Had in the back of my mind, that he was going to botch my surgery on purpose. The surgery went well. Still had to get 3 sperm counts and a more in-depth test, because of something like ancient or rare sperm.

Recovery sucked, but the snip-snip was successful

I got that done as a gift to my wife more than a quarter century ago, and I didn't take any time off from work. For Christmas that year, all she wanted was for me to have a vasectomy and she also wanted to get a dog.

The surgery was easier.

She eventually got the dog, but it took a few more months to convince me.

It was well worth the temporary discomfort, with more frequent positive consequences.

When I had mine, the urologist didn't give the local anesthesia enough time before slicing open my bean bag.  I felt the incision...

That's the sad part.  The funny part is that the urologist is my best friend and neighbor.  I have to see this bastard every day. ?

Funny shit, my buddy's son just asked if I posted this... I had it done yesterday too.  Little sore, but just played a few holes of simulator golf, so not too bad... Back to the couch for Netflix and chill my balls.

No vasectomy here, but I did have varicocele surgery down there.

Thank God they fully put me under for that one.

Still weird staring up into the attractive nurse’s eyes from the operating table, knowing they’re about to slice into you as soon as you’re unconscious.

I don't recall the left side/right side breakdown...and it didn't really feel all that bad later in the day I got it, or even the next day.  HOWEVER, on the 3rd day, holy shit my balls were so swollen and sore.  I was hurting, had a ton of bruising, and was gingerly walking.  Mine took about 10 days to really start to improve honestly.  And then suddenly it was just like back to normal.

Crazy thing was, I got mine at the end of February, two weeks before the shutdown.  When I called the doc to ask about getting a count, they told me they were not doing it at that time because of Covid.  I had to wait like another month or so until Illinois move to the less stringent restrictions.

35 here, no kids. Pretty confident that I am going to be getting this done soon- I have basically decided I don't want them. I know everyone loves them, but I'm not ready to lose 18 years of my life lol (sorry everyone with kids).

Some of the best advice I ever received was that you MUST be 100% sure in your decision not to have kids.  After our first two, I was 90% sure so I didn't get it done.  Wasn't trying, but had the 3rd and he is the greatest blessing ever!  Was then happy to get the snip while he was still in the womb.

If you want to be sure, make the decision to HAVE kids. My wife and I had hemmed and hawed about it for the last 8 years and finally she went off the pill. We wouldn't touch each other for 2-3 weeks until we finally admitted to each other it was a bad idea.

I don't remember any burning or anything I just remember the first couple days felt like I had been kicked in the nads. Hard. After that a couple few weeks of dull pain. Most unnecessary medical direction ever, no sex for a week.

I will say the lady nurse cleaning and iodining everything up before the doc did his thing was unnerving. She was attractive, but you know, at that point I could only really think "I wonder if those are real."

I got mine done end of October. Pretty easy all in all. Minor dull pain for a week. And I’m single and 46. Still date a lot, but realized I haven’t had kids and don’t want them. Best feeling ever since. Gotta do what’s right for you.

I’m here in Boston. Doc said to do the swimmer sample 3 mos after surgery. Is that the same advice the rest of you are getting?

That first erection is PAINFUL!!  The worst part is walking and feeling like you’re carrying a couple of bowling balls around. The surgery itself was fine. I could feel the tugging but that was it. I also took longer to recover, still rough walking around 5 days later. It was a good week before I was truly comfortable and probably 2 weeks before i had the desire for sex (not that it was effective yet, just talking about the desire returning).

I’ll never forget when I got it.  Thursday in 2015 two days before Harbaughs first game on the road against Utah.

Earlier this year, I was reading a column on someone's vasectomy experience, out of morbid curiosity, and all of the banner ads on the website were for kitchen knife sets.

You know those ladies in your life can get their tubes tied. And from what I heard it is not nearly as painful and their up walking around like normal with no problems.
