Not enough starzzz!!!! J/K
I know, right!? He's not even in the top 127 nationally.
People don’t realize that the lower ranked recruits tend to commit earlier and the higher ones later.
Last year, the lower ranked recruits committed early and later.
Too many starzzz!!!! 3 stars from Massachusetts only please.
I love it when we’re holding the balls.
Sam Webb with the crystal ball as well. Wiltfong and Webb both said high confidence.
This would be a very nice pickup. Excellent work by the staff.
In worse news, AJ Green had a run of crystal balls (including Wiltfong) to Arkansas, so that battle may be over soon
on the recruiting podcast last night, Sam and Steve talked a lot about Donovan wants to be thought of as "the guy" for whatever team he goes to and that's why he cooled on Ohio State and has allowed UM to pick up some momentum compared to UGA. It may end up that UM only takes one back this cycle because of this.
I don’t understand when recruits say this. Does he think that if a school takes other recruits that he’ll get less PT? You wanna be the guy? Then come to school and outwork and outperform everyone else and you’ll be “the guy”.
TBH though, under Harbaugh, has Michigan truly had one feature back?
Maybe, arguably Karan Higdon in 2018, but otherwise, Harbaugh tends to spread out carries among several backs.
As highly-rated RB recruit might see that as a red flag. That no matter how much better he is than the next option, he’ll still have to share carries with someone else.
Career longevity-wise, it is great, but NFL draft position-wise it doesn’t give them an opportunity to “shine.”
We haven't had a dominant primary back since, I don't even know. Hart? Were Toussaint or De'Veon Smith primary backs? Even though they got the majority of the yards/ carries it always seemed like a committee. ...but then my memory is bad.
It was a really big deal to Mike Weber.
No matter how hard you work, the rest of the depth chart has a great deal to do with how much you play. Other players work hard too. Lots of players agree with your take. Others don't.
We played that game with Shane morris and it set us back five years in the quarterback room
I think you misinterpreted what they meant. Edwards wants coaches to be honest with him and to play by his timeline. Coaches have been telling him that he's their #1 priority blah blah. So he's saying if that's true, then you'll wait for me to take visits and decide, and won't be pressuring me to commit. OSU was the leader but they weren't particularly committed to recruiting Edwards specifically: they didn't care whether they got him or Henderson. Michigan isn't lying when they say Edwards is number one in their board. But that doesn't mean we won't recruit other backs.
Sam's interpretation of our numbers situation is that we want 2 backs, but we would be ok with 1 if he's an elite complete back like Edwards. I would argue he's the only back at that level that we're still recruiting. If the situation were to arise where Edwards and a 2nd back like a Prophet Brown both wanted to commit, I suspect we would take both unless we needed the numbers elsewhere. As long as we were open with Edwards about this I think he would be ok with it.
Would also like to add along with this that by "the guy" he wants to be the man with the ball in his hands when the game is on the line type of thing. The podcast also said that he doesn't want to be a one trick pony who is the whole offense, and he's even said earlier in the cycle that he wants to play with another back because of the career longevity aspect that comes with being a running back. Along with that he's said he wants to play with "some ballers" so I doubt he wants to be the only guy on the offense and touching the ball 20+ times/game.
I think it's less about being the only back and more about transparency. OSU told them he was the #1 RB on their board but then went ahead and took two RB commits, one of which was the only other RB ranked ahead of him nationally. Michigan meanwhile has made it known that they're going to try to take 2 backs in their class but that he's #1 on their board. Whether they take AJ Green or Prophet Brown in the class, Donovan is their #1 guy. Transparency is what Donovan is looking for. As much as people shit on Harbaugh and his recruiting approach, this is an example where his style really helps.
How did the Tennessee bagmen miss on him???
Been a Michigan fan his whole life.
But did he go to Michigan??
-MSU fans
They low on funds right now due to COVID but we still have to cross our fingers.
What’s the exchange rate between beers and stars?
EDIT: I swear when I first looked at this post there were 5 beers where the 4 stars now reside
That’s a 247 feature. For some reason when things don’t load properly the stars switch to beers. Idk how well this embedding works since even the info is wrong (it says Michigan only has 25% of the balls when they have a 100%)
Brian Jean-Mary putting in work
I’ll come back when Maizen and his band of star gazers have thoroughly ruined this thread.
With this guy we will surely pass Ohio with the best recruiting class.
Hey something original from you!! Oh wait, it’s the same BS you have been spouting since you signed up 2 months ago.
I will give you credit in that I cannot yet figure if you are a Maizen “foil” account or a Buckeye troll. (fwiw I am currently leaning Buckeye so kudos if it is actually you Maizen)
He's the #10 player in the country at his position, is from a Southern state we never can seem to get guys from and has quite an offer list that includes 2/4 in the college football playoff last year.
I thought Harbaugh's SEC camps from a few years ago were going to pull in more southeast talent. It never really materialized and Georgia ended up stealing a few of good recruits.
Well that was just lazy. Also, you can't troll every recruiting post if you want maximum effect. Sometimes, less is more. You really should wait on a really good and positive one that everyone is excited about and then BANG, you're in with dumb shit and it's gets everyone talking about you instead of the original post that they were all excited about.
In before Maizen shits on the kid....
Not in the top 113! DO NOT WANT!
Anyone have any idea when Colson is committing?
On Sunday.
Dude, its actually in the thread title.
He's being pedantic. It's misspelled in the thread title.
(Italics are fun)
And yet, you thought he was serious??? I love our blog! We can and cannot take a joke too serious!!! Perfectly!!!
Dude’ he’s commenting (comenting?) on the spelling. Hence the use of italics. Comit is a computing language contemporaneous with FORTRAN.
.
Thanks FORTRANNING the untrannable, Scanner Blue!
This would be a great addition to the class and maybe start a run of 4 stars on defense.
When did 247Sports start including a confidence number with the Crystal Ball prediction?
I like it, though, seems like a nice addition.
