The Last Two B1G Teams to Win an NCAA Championship

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

Really wanted Duke to lose, but history remains unchanged: The last two B1G schools to win an NCAA basketball championship are Michigan State and Michigan.

And the last two B1G schools to win an NCAA football championship are Ohio State and Michigan.

I'm pretty sure, at the end of the day, the success of their basketball team pales (and when I say pales, I mean really pales) by comparison to what their football team does. Football rules all in Columbus, and that team just stomped its way to a national title a few months ago.

Basketball is just something nice for them to pass the time with until football shows back up. Not to say there aren't people there who truly care about OSU basketball, but they don't really give a shit that their team hasn't won it all in nearly 60 years. Football is all that truly matters to them.

Good call.
You know Ohio State and Michigan have the same amount of national titles, with OSU having been to four (well, technically five) more Final Fours, right?
OSU's only basketball title still came 12 years after 10/11ths of your football titles. But glass houses.

Yup. That is what they do best. I am not one to brag about accomplishments from decades ago, but the wins are still there. Sparty fans are starting to do the same thing. Of course to them, college football started in 2008 and we have only defeated them once in the history of the sport.

We won the ACC-Big Ten Challenge!

edit: This was supposed to be a reply to Carlos.

Anyway, Duke obliterated them for the last ten minutes of that game. I'm trying to remember how Wisconsin ever had a lead.

Wiscy definitly faded in the last 5 mins.  That KY win took a lot out of them as you would expect.

At least we don't have the SEC braying about how "they" won the NC in basketball to cover up for their shortfall in football.  They have not won shit that matters to them for 2 years.
