Larry Prout Jr. Elected Homecoming King

Submitted by BursleyHall82 on

You'll remember from a couple weeks ago that Larry Prout Jr., the toughest guy on our football team, was asked to Pinckney High School's Homecoming by a lovely young lady. Well, last week, the sophomore class elected Larry as its Homecoming King.

The Homecoming game was Friday night, as Larry got his king sash. And from the looks of it, at least three Michigan players were at the game to help celebrate. I believe that's Grant Newsome on the left and John O'Korn on the right, and Ryan Tice (maybe?) in the middle. He's now the one, true Larry King!

Awesome! Btw, Newsome and O’Korn genuinely spend a ton of time with Larry. Proud of these Michigan men for all they do. Bringing a ton of joy to Larry and his family’s lives.

For what he's gone through and the great attitude he keeps, Mr. Prout Jr. can proudly wear the "tough mother fucker" moniker for the rest of his life. A true dude.

Is this King of the Sophomores really a thing?  Did other people have homecomings where there was a king and queen for each class?  I ask because my high school had 1 king and 1 queen from the senior class with a "court" of 4 other guys and 4 other girls who were the runners-up.

I suspect his win was a lopsided one....as it should have been.  LP Jr Is a Champion at Life.  I am amazed by people like Larry who impact entire communities just by having an incredible attitude in the face of all kinds of challenges.

Good for you, young man, good for you.

Say what you want about kids these days, but today's high schoolers are much more sympathetic to their peers w/ developmental or other issues than I can remember from when I was young.  My kids' high school pretty regularly elects kids w/ Downs etc, to homecoming courts and other similar honors.  My daughter's high school even offers a "Peer Mentoring" class that she is currently enrolled in where they spend an hour a day in a classroom helping w/ classmates w/ autism, downs, and other issues.  The teachers say this involvement means alot to kids on both sides.

I'm expecting there to be a 30-for-30 episode in 10 years about how Larry was front funneling huge amounts of cash to these athletes.

Honestly, though, great to see these kids taking time for something like this, not only with their school and football commitments, but with the many other things they could do with their very small amount of free time.
