Kelly to LSU and recruiting

There are a couple of commits ND has from Michigan.  Any chance of a flip?

They have a highly ranked class.  Any chance of attrition?

If Marcus Freeman stays then no. If he's gone then we have a chance at Josh Burnham and Tobias Merriweather.

I think we're flipping Amorion Walker regardless

Ziegler and Burnham have publicly called for Freeman to be named HC. If he isn't promoted, maybe they look around.

Walker has been on flip watch for like a month now, but hasn't so no idea what to expect there.

Probably not the Michigan kids. Burnham supposedly loves Freeman but he may be the strangest recruitment in this entire cycle for me.

The kid is from Michigan and grows up an absolute Michigan fanatic (from what I hear). His only hesitancy is from the Covid season UM had and the speculation surrounding the coaches but he is widely seen as a UM lock.

He then suddenly commits to ND and word is that Jean-Mary leaving was the reason. He being so close to him that it makes going to his dream school impossible. It makes no sense unless UM just botched this in some way we don't know about or they didn't really want the kid (which I see as highly unlikely).

I usually always stress to others that the stuff fans care about rarely come into play during a recruitment and it's all about relationships. The "dream school" mantra is not hard to overcome with all but the most connected kids. A Lander Barton wasn't leaving Utah if they offered. It just wasn't happening. An Aidan Hutchinson wasn't leaving Michigan if they offered. Those kinds of kids are pretty locked-in but short of that it's kinda open-season for recruiters to build a relationship with a kid, his family and those involved. Anything can happen.

This one always felt weird to me. Someone botched something or he is the type that truly wanted to make his own mark because everything I heard is that his entire family are Michigan fanatics. Situations like this make me wonder if you just change fandom?! Like, did he not watch The Game with any feeling in his heart? Does the whole family just kinda start supporting Notre Dame and change?

Like a few people I know that changed their allegiances to match their future spouse, I've asked them what that's like and it's always a very unspecific "well, I just...like...I still care but I don't and I now like this other team". It's strange to me.

If the school you and your family grew up loving didn't spurn you, what does that feel like to not only say "no" but choose a rival? That has always interested me.

I Don’t see Rocco Spindler changing because he  “promised his grand pappy” he’d go to Notre Dame.  And dad gummit, you can’t break a promise like that!

Actually my hope is that Xavier Worthy circles back around. Sure he had a great year at Texas personally but that program is a tire fire and they will win nothing anytime soon. He and Ronnie Bell on the outside would be dynamite next season.
