A lot to think about

especially the "Maybe but possibly" part!

Need MOAR threads on coaching changes .. oh wait …

In fairness to everyone, on every other forum in existence you can search and then "bump" a thread back to the top to spur conversation but cannot do that here. It's knit picky but honestly an odd feature to not have in a forum. It promotes repetitive topics.

This works alot better when we share information rather than seek information.

I suspect Crootin' gonna be OK for us going forward.
November 30th, 2021 at 8:27 PM ^
Idk man….Crootin’, ya know?

If Marcus Freeman stays then no. If he's gone then we have a chance at Josh Burnham and Tobias Merriweather.
I think we're flipping Amorion Walker regardless
November 30th, 2021 at 8:10 PM ^
Amorion Walker?
Edit: my bad, didn’t see that you mentioned him. I’m in agreement with you
November 30th, 2021 at 8:40 PM ^
Walker & Merriweather are both 6'4 around 180lbs. I want both of them.
Walker does sounds like a lock now. Plus last night Merriweather liked a tweet by Coach Clink.

Depends on their hire but if they keep Marcus freeman they are going to kill it in recruiting

Ziegler and Burnham have publicly called for Freeman to be named HC. If he isn't promoted, maybe they look around.
Walker has been on flip watch for like a month now, but hasn't so no idea what to expect there.

This will be the first (and probably only time) that I have inside info on a recruit due to knowing the family. Ziegler will never come to Michigan and will stick with ND 100% regardless of coach...he is a legacy whose Grandpa and Great uncle both played at ND.

Probably not the Michigan kids. Burnham supposedly loves Freeman but he may be the strangest recruitment in this entire cycle for me.
The kid is from Michigan and grows up an absolute Michigan fanatic (from what I hear). His only hesitancy is from the Covid season UM had and the speculation surrounding the coaches but he is widely seen as a UM lock.
He then suddenly commits to ND and word is that Jean-Mary leaving was the reason. He being so close to him that it makes going to his dream school impossible. It makes no sense unless UM just botched this in some way we don't know about or they didn't really want the kid (which I see as highly unlikely).
I usually always stress to others that the stuff fans care about rarely come into play during a recruitment and it's all about relationships. The "dream school" mantra is not hard to overcome with all but the most connected kids. A Lander Barton wasn't leaving Utah if they offered. It just wasn't happening. An Aidan Hutchinson wasn't leaving Michigan if they offered. Those kinds of kids are pretty locked-in but short of that it's kinda open-season for recruiters to build a relationship with a kid, his family and those involved. Anything can happen.
This one always felt weird to me. Someone botched something or he is the type that truly wanted to make his own mark because everything I heard is that his entire family are Michigan fanatics. Situations like this make me wonder if you just change fandom?! Like, did he not watch The Game with any feeling in his heart? Does the whole family just kinda start supporting Notre Dame and change?
Like a few people I know that changed their allegiances to match their future spouse, I've asked them what that's like and it's always a very unspecific "well, I just...like...I still care but I don't and I now like this other team". It's strange to me.
If the school you and your family grew up loving didn't spurn you, what does that feel like to not only say "no" but choose a rival? That has always interested me.

Jean-Mary has been bashing us ever since he left. Trashing us to recruits. Remember when he called our fans a "tennis crowd"? Anybody at the big house on Saturday knows that's not true. Fck that guy.
November 30th, 2021 at 8:50 PM ^
Jean-Mary’s only year at Michigan was in a CoVid year with very minimum attendance. I guess it did seem like a tennis crowd in that aspect

Christ.

You can call me JC for short.

Gonna be hard to pull him from Notre Dame, but after the OSU game, who knows?
November 30th, 2021 at 9:09 PM ^
As Seth said on Twitter, all this recruiting speculation assumes these ND croots committed bc they like BK.
bit of a stretch imo

Unless they promote Freeman, most of the staff will likely be gone along with Kelly. Some will probably leave even if they promote Freeman. And how likely is that promotion when Freeman has only been there for one season?
December 1st, 2021 at 10:06 AM ^
They seem likely to promote Freeman
November 30th, 2021 at 10:05 PM ^
I Don’t see Rocco Spindler changing because he “promised his grand pappy” he’d go to Notre Dame. And dad gummit, you can’t break a promise like that!

Actually my hope is that Xavier Worthy circles back around. Sure he had a great year at Texas personally but that program is a tire fire and they will win nothing anytime soon. He and Ronnie Bell on the outside would be dynamite next season.
