Damn - how did we miss this when the news broke!? I can't believe this big of news about the contract negotiations for the coach of the #1 team in the country -- tweeted by one of that team's most prominent insiders/journalists -- was not previously discussed on that team's biggest message board on its biggest blog!  Wow!

It always blows my mind when posts like this go up.  Especially from someone who’s been here for a long time.

I mean how?  How would you arrive at the conclusion that a huge story about Michigan that was all over national news got missed by everyone here for 24 hours?

This was posted less than 2 minutes after the story initially broke, as are ALL significant stories involving Michigan.

He's not going to sign it. He wants to win a national championship this year and then go back to the NFL. The only real question is if they don't win it does he still just go back to the NFL anyways.

As much as I'd like your take to be a very wrong hot take, given the debacle that has been this year of uneven support from certain people within the chain of command, burgergate, signgate, etc., I wouldn't really blame Coach Harbaugh if this ultimately proves true.

While it would be a very human, and understandable reaction for Harbaugh to just peace out given NCAA hypocrisy, he's a weird dude and maybe he's comfortable sticking around for a few years "just because," "take that" NCAA. Fingers crossed.

The worst part, for me, should your prognostication prove accurate, is that those behind this hit piece will have ultimately succeeded in their goal (just in a different way than they schemed it).

I wouldn't sign it if the language basically allows Michigan to not honor the deal based on the flimsy NCAA investigation. That is unfair to Jim and honestly Michigan shouldn't negotiate a deal like that. Either they are backing him or not. It just seems some(one) doesn't want Jim there. Michigan conceding like they have been has given the NCAA more power than tbey actually have.

You have to fold in a little positive commentary to make this whole thing work.  Constant and endless correcting everyone and negativity make it look like you are just trolling.

The good skeptical but still pro-Michigan commenters give a little of the bright side sometimes, and the best trolls build up some political capital before trashing the program so it takes longer to notice them.

There was much OUTRAGE! on Full Ride program this morning...

"Used to be when you cheated, you got fired immediately! Now, you get a big contract! Unbelievable."

Neuheisel doesn’t like Harbaugh because Jim allegedly punked him while shaking hands after Stanford beat one of his teams. Something like an over aggressive handshake/slap on the back with a “How’d you like THAT, Ricky?”
The co-host, Chris Childers, is a clownshow prone to faux outrage and overreaction.

That's a realistic amount of money, which is sort of crazy.  Obviously a big payday but I also assume a couple other coaches will get bumps as well and this will look quite reasonable and still leave some money for staff raises and other needs.

Given that signing day is fast approaching -- in addition to portal time -- logic dictates that Harbaugh would have every incentive to sign asap if he plans to stay. But he hasn't. Do the math.

Maybe it's just me, but I would be fine with a lifetime contract at amounts that puts him at whatever would be the highest paid salary in the B1G. He's earned it.

We've seen this movie before.  If this goes as it has in the past, it will stay on the table until JH checks out all the NFL possibilities. Not trying to be negative, but this is what he does.
