Joel Klatt, prophet.
7:23 left in the 4th, OSU just kicked a fg for thier last points.
31-23, we have the ball, 1st & 10.
Klatt using his pigskin spidey-sense...
"You get the feeling that something's coming, a specialty play of some sort which means that Jim Knowles has to have the best series as a defensive coordinator he's had maybe in his life...First year here at Ohio state this is why he's here...they have to get a stop."
Then...
...at the 28:45 mark. (thanks WD)

Thats when I was shouting “shut up Klatt”
November 29th, 2022 at 5:56 PM ^
That was not even close to the only time such words were widely shouted. Klatt was off, not unlike osu
November 29th, 2022 at 6:19 PM ^
He was? How?
November 29th, 2022 at 6:32 PM ^
He was very confused at the end of the first half when Harbaugh was complaining about OSU's late timeout that negated JJ's run. He thought Harbaugh was upset about how JJ was tackled. Beyond that, I thought he was fine.
November 29th, 2022 at 7:07 PM ^
Klatt was definitely confused by that. Had no clue that the play was blown dead. In fact, I think that Harbaugh was upset not only about the late time out but also about the JJ tackle because JJ mostly stopped when he heard whistles (and OSU then tossed him on his head).
November 29th, 2022 at 7:22 PM ^
I like Klatt but there were a couple instances where he was talking out of both sides of his mouth.
Early on, he was flabbergasted that Michigan deferred to the second half. "Why would you let Ohio State go on offense first, get them up 7-0, give them confidence early, why would you do that, why, why, why?!?!?"
Then later on he completely backtracked and said, "this was all strategy by Harbaugh. It was wise for him to get the ball to start the third quarter, very wise, yadda, yadda, yadda."
Klatt also says about several things a game that always forces me to knock on wood...almost as if he's trying to jinx us. "Oh, Jake Moody would NEVER miss a field goal from here." SHHHHH!!!!!

Fowler had trouble calling ND/USC too ...

I had the sound off
November 29th, 2022 at 5:55 PM ^
Was that a specialty play? Or just an ordinary run designed to get us to 2nd and short, that OSU misplayed horribly?
November 29th, 2022 at 6:06 PM ^
Yes, of course, Harbaugh told Weiss and Moore to run the 75 yard TD play for the Don...
November 29th, 2022 at 6:23 PM ^
I like the fact they saved the 85-yard touchdown run call for later.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:25 PM ^
Well yeah, cant be greedy
November 30th, 2022 at 3:27 AM ^
Yes we can,
November 29th, 2022 at 6:35 PM ^
Ballsy.
November 29th, 2022 at 8:15 PM ^
It doesn't make sense to run your designed 85-yard play from your own 25. It's a waste of ten yards.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:08 PM ^
Read all about it on Neck Sharpies. Beautifully broken down.
November 29th, 2022 at 7:18 PM ^
LOL, "a specialty play" blocking the A-gap open on a zone read.
November 29th, 2022 at 5:55 PM ^
That’s my favorite kind of ‘specialty play’ right there
November 29th, 2022 at 7:02 PM ^
I mean all eleven within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage. Ho hum.
November 29th, 2022 at 5:57 PM ^
My favorite kind of "specialty play" is a 75-yd touchdown run.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:17 PM ^
I prefer 85 yarders, but to each their own.
November 29th, 2022 at 7:02 PM ^
They can only get the remainder of the field though.
November 30th, 2022 at 3:28 AM ^
Would have been a 200 yard play if the field was longer.
November 29th, 2022 at 10:04 PM ^
No question it's as special as it can be, except for an 85-yard TD run.
November 29th, 2022 at 5:58 PM ^
I enjoy Klatt's YouTube show where he talks about Michigan.
November 29th, 2022 at 5:59 PM ^
My brother and I LOL'd on rewatch, knowing what was coming

I was so pissed at Gus right before that play when he pointed out that there had been no turnovers.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:00 PM ^
I think Klatt does a good job, but let’s not forget he was complaining of the co-OC system earlier in the year. He went on and on about “who has veto power?”
November 29th, 2022 at 6:07 PM ^
Klatt's main problem with the system was that they wouldn't tell *him* who really had the power.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:51 PM ^
Precisely.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:00 PM ^
The prophet's week 1 top four:
1. Alabama
2. Georgia
3. Ohio State
4. Clemson
November 29th, 2022 at 6:23 PM ^
One out of four isn't bad. ;)
November 29th, 2022 at 6:03 PM ^
I'll bet it was Jim Knowles' shortest defensive series he's ever had!
November 29th, 2022 at 6:12 PM ^
One play, 75 yards. Tied with the other 1 play, 75 yard drive earlier in the game.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:34 PM ^
It was a one and out! Gave his team lots of time with the ball.
November 30th, 2022 at 3:33 AM ^
That should be our nickname for Knowles:
Jim One-And-Out Knowles.
November 30th, 2022 at 3:32 AM ^
When Day radioed up to Knowles "Get Michigan off the field as quickly as possible", he should have been more specific.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:09 PM ^
Joel is entertaining-sometimes he even makes good points.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:18 PM ^
Look at the angle the safety has on Edwards…. What a run and finish
November 29th, 2022 at 7:40 PM ^
yes, piss poor angle. Really underestimated Edwards' speed.
Uh, his hand was hurt, not his legs.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:20 PM ^
Every time I yell "gogoGOGO GO!" and they keep going I'm going to take credit from now on and call myself a prophet....
who am I kidding I already take credit for this. True story, in 2005 I was in the ROTC color guard for the Penn St Game, on the field just behind the south end zone. With 2 seconds left, just to let off steam I hollered "end zone boys." Steve Breaston looked me dead in the eye. He probably was thinking "no shit sherlock," but I like to think he took my advice and relayed it to Henne and Manningham.
So yes, if Klatt is a prophet I'm taking responsibility for that one.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:31 PM ^
I like Klatt more than I like Herbstreit.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:37 PM ^
I like eating grass better than poop.
(I'd guess.)
November 29th, 2022 at 6:58 PM ^
I eat grass minus the gr.
November 29th, 2022 at 7:02 PM ^
maybe, "grrrr, 'bite'!"
November 29th, 2022 at 6:32 PM ^
Klatt had an interesting interpretation of the English language on occasion on Saturday.
My favorite, after the false start before the punt/fake punt was” Ohio State is playing tight. There’s a fear factor AROMINATING from this entire building right now”
November 29th, 2022 at 6:36 PM ^
I don't think that was fear he was smelling.
November 29th, 2022 at 6:55 PM ^
True, somebody left their cooler open.
November 29th, 2022 at 7:05 PM ^
Pretty sure they left that one in their pants.
