A JJ McCarthy and Donovan Edwards feature.

JT won a championship his freshman year when he got hurt and Cardale came in and led OSU. JT’s running was an important component of OSU’s success, until he got hurt. I don’t want Cade or JJ running 15-20 times a game. How did that work out for Denard? Seems like he rarely made it to the OSU game healthy.
I watched Brian Griese lead Michigan to its last national championship. It’s a team game. Cade has thrown 1 interception and been sacked twice. He doesn’t sit in the pocket wondering what to do with the ball. He avoids negative plays and wins road games. He knows the system and doesn’t make mistakes (the 1 INT was All’s fault).
I’ve watched Michigan play football for about 45 years. In my opinion, the way to win championships is having a dominating defense, a punishing ground game that grinds out first downs in the fourth quarter, solid special teams, and a QB that plays mistake free football and can punish the opponents when they sell out to stop the run. And it helps to be lucky.

Cade is no Brian Griese.

You’re right, he’s better.
In Griese’s junior year, he completed 54.9% of his passes for 6.5 YPA. He had a TD:INT ratio of 11:9 and his QB rating was 117.9.
Cade’s numbers are comparable to Griese’s 5th year, when he, you know, won the national championship.

Except they have a true freshman in Ewers. The #1 recruit whose considered a talent on par with Trevor Lawrence. So doesn't that kind of blow up your play the best talent and let him grow on the job and dominate for years theory?
Their QB room will look pretty empty next and the portal will include Stroud or Ewers.

You do realize there is a difference between being a freshman and being a redshirt freshman? Do you also realize that you can damage a players and teams development by putting a player in before they are ready? Do you also realize that it is impossible for you to make an informed opinion on 14 attempts? This is not Madden.

They both seem like terrific young men, and they're excited about being at Michigan. They're obviously learning a lot, and they're making a nice contribution to the team.
So happy they're at Michigan.

What's most interesting to me is that Harbaugh / the coaching staff decided to let McCarthy and Edwards get this focused attention.

I'd imagine being really positive teammates plays a huge role. If they had a cancerous attitude I doubt they'd get any air time.

Read options and RPOs are going to be fun to watch with these two in the backfield.

All I know is it is imperative to keep these guys from transferring next year. We need all the skill position guys we can get especially at QB. One bad hit and if you don’t have a good backup well ask PSU what can happen Kinnickcombs not withstanding.

Those are two good young men with a good perspective. I'm glad they are on our team.
