Jim Harbaugh vs Rutgers
I can't stop laughing at the intro to this podcast from NJ.com. I hate you Delany.
Rebuilding Rutgers: From the Ashes. Episode 4: Jim Harbaugh vs. Rutgers.
October 4th, 2016 at 10:24 AM ^
I'd say Harbaugh would be favored by 7 pts. I mean, after all, there are 11 Rutgers players on the field against just him, so I think he'd only win by a touchdown.

Is Harbaugh full-sized or half-sized?
October 4th, 2016 at 10:26 AM ^
There is no contest.....Michigan can take any football player it wants in New Jersey away from Rutgers (unless Rutgers is the players dream school, the kid doesn't want to leave NJ, etc.). It's ridiculous to think this is even a fair fight. I understand them trying to talk this up like Ash isn't taking any of Harbaugh's crap, but Harbaugh is force feeding it to Ash, so there is little he can do.

It's like all of last summer's complaints all rolled into one 30 minute rant. Therapy is good, Rutgers. Get it all out.

But will they return to glory before or after Notre Dame?

Rubbing their noses in it? Bahahahaha. Pretty sure Harbaugh could give two shits about what Rutgers thinks.
The Rutgers fan base is really subscribing to the "If we believe it, wins will come" philosophy. Sadly, this is real life and not the fantasy land they've created for themselves.
Thanks for sharing this post though - this makes this weekends game just a bit more enjoyable for me

Seriously, the last time Rutgers won anything of note, Ulysses S. Grant was in office. Leather helmets hadn't even been invented yet.

Oh, hello Rutgers. Didn't see ya there.
October 4th, 2016 at 10:40 AM ^
Rutgers was clearly looking ahead when they played OSU on Saturday.
October 4th, 2016 at 10:41 AM ^
I'm looking forward to two bye weeks.

It will be Rutgers (bye), Bye, Illinois (bye).
October 4th, 2016 at 1:05 PM ^
But best to show up to the stadium against Illinois regardless, due to it being Homecoming.

How exactly are they going to "rebuild" Rutgers? Don't they have to be built into something before they can be RE-built?
October 4th, 2016 at 11:13 AM ^
Tonight they're gonna party like it's 1869

In 1976, Rutgers declined an invitation to play an unranked McNeese State University at the inaugural Independence Bowl, feeling snubbed by more prestigious bowls despite its undefeated 11–0 season.
So there is that...

I noticed this (in banner form) when I went to the UM @ Rutgers basketball game season before last. Rutgers went into the Final Four 31-0, only to lose to... Michigan. No wonder we're rivals.
Full story here. Odd tidbit: Dickie V. was an assistant coach for Rutgers then.

What are you doing?
Refinishing the table!
Don't you have to re-start?

I stopped listening when they mentioned $8 khakis. Whatever.

That should have also been my signal to drop off, but I had to hear how Ahmir Mitchell left Michigan for Rutgers because "the grass is not always greener..."

This is funny. It'll be great to be leaving there Saturday night after a blowout win while they are shaking their fists at us.
October 4th, 2016 at 11:12 AM ^
There is just too much mouth breathing going on in that podcast. I had to shut it down.
October 4th, 2016 at 11:13 AM ^
Clearly, the miss Greg Schiano but walk cautiously forward with Chris Ash all the same after the clown show of Kyle Flood.
That being said, unless they find a way to turn the ashes into a sculptable paste or something, we will probably just end up burning down any remaining Rutgers aspirations, whatever those may have been. More ashes for the pile.
October 4th, 2016 at 11:39 AM ^
How the hell do they even try to label this as a "rivalry"? It's batshit insane.
Attention Rutgers: you are not, and will never be one of our Rivals. Just stop, you're embarrassing yourselves.
October 4th, 2016 at 12:03 PM ^
JH landing the best players from NJ just reflects the reality that Rutgers football is garbage. Why would anyone with options want to go to a school that never has won, doesn't win now and isn't going to win in the future?
i could understand if they hated JH because of him going for two (to expand the lead to 27 points) and then continuing the annihlation into the second half in last year's game.... even though Rutgers had it coming with their chirping in the tunnel in spite of being down 19 at the half. That would make more sense than hating JH for recruiting NJ kids.

How much would Jim Harbaugh be favored against a giant Scarlet Knight?
How much would Jim Harbaugh be favored against 53 miniature Scarlet Knights?
October 4th, 2016 at 12:23 PM ^
I just don't understand how personally they take their hate for Michigan. I get that Michigan pulled commits from NJ than OSU did, but they act like OSU is benelovent superpower to them, and Michigan is a mean bully who wants to go out of their way to destroy Rutgers. OSU held embarrassed them last week, yet somehow Michigan will try to do worse, but they can't since "they're no OSU" and it'll be "competitive". It's very weird.
October 4th, 2016 at 12:41 PM ^
Rutgers has only beat 3 Big Ten teams since entering the conference in 2014: Indiana (twice), @Maryland, and Michigan. Losing that game for some reason has given them the idea that they can compete with Michigan. It is their crowning achievement since joining the Big Ten.

is where the host says Mitchell decided to leave Michigan and go to RU becausae he wanted to go there/it was a better fit for him...
