I removed that thread because the OP was nothing but a hot take by Dennis Fithian.  There are already four---4---yes, count them, f-o-u-r threads still active on the board discussing firing Harbaugh/finding his replacement.

Not to mention the pinned Snowflakes threads.

Rob, if this site had threads configured such that recent activity would keep them prominently displayed, this problem might not exist.

Do we really need Snowflake threads to occupy the top four of seven slots displayed on the message board for close to a day?

The answer to your question is found here:

Please see #1 "snowflake threads", as posted by LSA.

The policy has essentially been the same like forever in MGoYears.

(edit @ 10:30pm: I believe LSA has generally left the snowflake threads posted at least until midnight after day games and overnight after night games)

Snowflake:

"A very sensitive person. Someone who is easily hurt or offended by the statements or actions of others.

This has nothing to do with politics. Snowflakes can be liberal or conservative. Whether it is a compliment or an insult is a matter of opinion and depends on the context."

Exactly why we have snowflake threads. Because "Fire Harbaugh" ones and ones criticizing or demanding better from the program have been offending our sensitive MOM's "like forever in MGoYears."

You're obviously new here.  We've had the aptly-named "Snowflake threads" longer than I've been on the board, and much longer than the word "snowflake" has been overused as a political put-down .

Did you even bother reading that linked "end of OT season" post?

(Edit: also has nothing to do with this or any other "MOM" being offended and everything to do with keeping clutter from burying much more threadworthy posts.  That's why this one is also likely to be deleted very soon unless it turns out that worthwhile discussion broke out here and there.)

That's a bad definition of "snowflake." The term originated from people that thought they were special, and thus felt their opinion was SO important it deserved its own thread. Since no two snowflakes are the same, the term was adopted. It's also how the term is utilized here.

I have no clue how or why the term became rebranded to mean something that has nothing to do with what a snowflake is. At least there's a logical reason to misrepresent the term "troll".

While everyone is beating you up why was my uofmchris1 account banned?

Someone started a political thread weeks ago, and I chimed in with 1 comment about the Mayor of Chicago's hairdo and you ban me because someone thought it was a racist comment? Wtf.

Get off your high horse man.

Even the strongest Harbaugh supporters can't defend this loss, it's inexcusable. And it's officially time to start looking at other coaches. And before the inevitable "Who can we hire that's better?" question rolls in, we need to stop pretending there aren't great options out there such as Joe Brady, Matt Campbell, Mario Cristobal, Chris Petersen, Luke Fickell, Brent Venables, etc. It's time to move on...

What's the likelihood that any of those coaches would take the Michigan head coaching job now, considering the current state of the program?

Didn't Chris Petersen say that he stepped away from coaching at Washington because of the stress and anxiety? How much less stress and anxiety would he find as Michigan's head coach?

Michigan is a destination job in the sense that a guy who comes here probably won't leave for another job.  But that doesn't mean that we can just hire anyone.  We didn't have the easiest time filling the position in 2007 or 2011, and I really don't know what we would have done in 2014 if Harbaugh hadn't been available.

We're in a tricky spot right now as a program, where it might be possible to hit a home run, but also very possible that we strike out.  It's the Rob Deer position.

You can find guys with decent track records, but 1) would any of them actually come here and 2) does their résumé actually look better than Harbaugh's?  I mean, Jim took a team to the Super Bowl.

Fanbases tend to convince themselves that wherever they are is the floor and they can only get better.  This is not necessarily true.  Jim's been our best coach since Carr.  Maybe he's on the downswing, time will tell, but the next guy might do worse.

I do think it's time to part ways with Don Brown though.  He's lost his fastball.

I remember thinking that Harbaughs NFL and Super Bowl experience would make him much “smarter” and better at “player development” than any college coach.  Turns out that didn’t mean jack shit.  He’s tactically dumb, and he can’t motivate a drowning man to put on a life preserver.  He’s weird, awkward, and continues to underperform.

Track record?  Who cares.  Tucker, a guy with one losing season as head coach just beat our coach with a good track record who ‘took a team to the super bowl.’

we don’t need a guy that’s already proven he can win on the big stage, we need a guy who has shown enough promise and is hungry enough to win on the big stage.

Harbs, thanks for restoring some consistency after the Hoke and RR eras but I’m afraid a change is needed.

The idea is to find elite head coaching talent--not a track record. It's not necessarily in the coordinator ranks. Urban Meyer and Dabo Swinney were NOT coordinators before they become 1st time head coaches.

The problem for Michigan is 1) there is ZERO in their processes within the athletic department that makes you think they can uncover an elite coaching talent and 2) Harbaugh is not going to be the easiest guy to fire unless the team completely goes off the rails.

Nonsense. He made Minnesota relevant. No small task. Fleck is a fine coach. Made WMU ranked too.  He needs an uptick in recruiting.

But if we want to catch OSU then only Meyer, or maybe d'Antonio would do it. I do like Allen too.  Maybe Fickell.

Forget being “out recruited”....he isn’t developing players while they are at Michigan.  This Michigan team should have crushed this sorry Michigan State team.
