Jersey Tug in Sparty game UNCALLED by the SAME Official
https://twitter.com/berry_seth14/status/1227424880104218630
So apparently D.J. Carstensen believes that MSU can tug on their opponents' jerseys while falling, while UM can't. Unbelievable.

Great another staee thread! Did the RCMB url get changed to mgoblog?
February 12th, 2020 at 4:26 PM ^
Would've created the thread if it was any other B1G team involved, because it's relevant to us.
February 12th, 2020 at 4:54 PM ^
The thread is a double threat because it's one that is dedicated to whining about officiating too.

This was covered on the front page. That doesn't mean it still doesn't suck though.

This would have been a better one to call it on, too, as the grab affected the play with a loose rebound there for the taking. Z's didn't affect the play at all with a foul having been called. Sure would like to be 6-6 (with a chance at 8-6 after this week), as opposed to 5-7 (trying to draw even).

And you know what we still may have lost. Maybe they hit a dagger when they got the ball back. But so be it. Let the goddamn players decide it.
February 12th, 2020 at 7:00 PM ^
Sure, let 'em play. But also don't let the refs decide the outcome. Carstensan (sp?) decided the outcome.

Maybe confusing but that's exactly what I'm saying. That call was bullshit and so give Z his shots and be done with the play. If ohip state hit a shot when they got the ball back...shit happens and tip your cap. But these zebra fucks inserting themselves, especially right there and after that horribly called game, is shit.

Every fear I've had about how B1G officials feel about Michigan was validated in the Dan Capron interview this past week when he finally acknowledged that:
1. Referees dont like Michigan
2. Their personal biases and emotions DO influence how they call games
At least now that it's out in the open I no longer have to get really pissed off and yell when shit like this happens because now i KNOW they are basically out to fuck us if they can.
February 12th, 2020 at 5:21 PM ^
You hit the nail on the head.

So the B1G should take some of that money and increase the pay for officials while at the same time having a review process (perhaps independent) that holds them accountable.
Additionally perhaps each team should have a few vetos per year where they can opt of certain a official(s) calling a game (likely a big game with a well know slappy of the the other team). Plus if the officiating roster was posted to the universities in advance there is no reason for the official(s) to know that this was the case.

There was also an atrocious live ball foul called very late where an Illini guy dove for the ball, got the ball, but at some point also made contact with a Sparty player who wasn't ever going to get the 50-50 ball...it was complete incompetence. I don't buy that they're thay bad, there's more to it. The wretched calls that go certain ways are intentionally done.
February 12th, 2020 at 5:07 PM ^
Can confirm, this call was awful.
February 12th, 2020 at 5:46 PM ^
Wait. So you dis a poster for bringing up the jersey grab inconsistency, but are all in on referee conspiracies.
February 12th, 2020 at 5:28 PM ^
Should have gone with TC Tuggers brand jerseys.
February 12th, 2020 at 5:41 PM ^
Is this a jersey tug by Mel Tucker because it was orchestrated by Nick Saban at the MSU stadium because Dantonia was pissed about something due to a waffle?
I think I've covered most of the dumbass threads.
February 12th, 2020 at 6:30 PM ^
No, but your post has dumbass written all over it...
February 12th, 2020 at 5:49 PM ^
During the M game when this was called, the ref said it was a flagrant because Jeff Simpson pulled the OSU player to the ground with him. He didn't... the dude took like 5 more steps and stumbled on his own, but never fell all the way down - but that was the explanation. This guy never came close to falling down. Neither should have been called.
February 12th, 2020 at 8:01 PM ^
Time to declare war on refs! Lets really give em a reason not to like us!
