Oh spare me your bullshit, pal. At least half of this board was convinced after the sanctions came out that it would be YEARS, even 1-2 decades, before Penn State was fully competitive again.

I just rewatched the UM beatdown of PSU last year for the 10th time this week.  Satisfying on so many levels.  Favorite moment was when #1 (safety or cb not sure) had a mini-seizure of frustration after Higdon's TD put us up over 30.

Hate to say it due to all the innocent young Penn State fans who don't know better and weren't there for the travesty, but FUCK PENN STATE.

Someone on this blog or maybe I read it somewhere else, pointed out that PSU last season was kinda like Brady Hoke's 11-2 season at Michigan. It was just the perfect storm and a lot of lucky things went right. I actually think it was real fortunate for Michigan that Brady Hoke had his lucky season right at the start of his contract. Therefore, he couldn't get immediately rewarded with a new huge multi year contract off of it. If Hoke would've had his lucky 11-2 team during his 4th season, we all would've thought the team was on the up rise and never went after Harbaugh. Brady Hoke would've gotten a new big time contract.

Glad to hear this...karma will now take over and this program will slide down the shitter while being locked into an expensive buyout. Charlie Weis would be proud

(Takes deep breath and sighs as I prepare to sort of defend James Franklin) I don't think Franklin is a great coach by any means, but it's hard to chalk all of his success to luck. Vanderbilt has played in 8 bowl games in its history, Franklin was responsible for 3 in 3 years and back to back 9-win seasons. He's recruiting well, which is at least 90 percent of college football (it's how fellow not great coach Dabo Swinney just won a title). He's probably not winning a national title, but that would likely be a tall task for most any coach sharing a division with Harbaugh and Meyer. Still, I could see them remaining a top 15 or so team, which is probably a win at this point for Penn State. On the flipside, if it does go south, the new deal is structured in a way that lets the school move on relatively cheaply.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm very much Silky Johnson when it comes to Penn State. I want all the bad things in the world to happen to them and only them. The FG last year was weak, but Franklin is far from the first coach to kick one to avoid a shutout. As much as I'd love to see them go 0-12 into perpetuity, realistically they're probably going to be pretty good under Franklin moving forward.

look at how much respect you are giving him for what he has done. one good year at psu and a couple good years at vandy. yet go read what their fans say about harbaugh. that he has done nothing, he is over rated and keep talking about 2 third place finishes as though michigan hasn`t even been competitive.

so lets take a look, one play against msu two years ago and just one play between the iowa or osu game and michigan has two big ten titles. completely turns around the stanford and 49er franchises. go`s to major bowls ,wins and go`s to 3 nfl champion games and a super bowl. that looks like a damn good resume to me.

If a worthless douche bag can rake in 5.8 mil/year after one lucky season, then JH deserves a big raise.

I know, JH doesn't care about the greenbacks ...

Going to have to beat OSU to even talk about a raise... honestly, based on our record, the man is overpaid.

I love him too, but in the Iowa and OSU games this year he got outcoached in the 4th quarter.  Heck, even the loss to MSU, the horrible punt play had the reciever lined up wide with 11 rushing...

The gunner lined up wide didn't drop the football.  The punter dropped the football.  Michigan lost because the punter didn't punt the ball because he dropped the football.  If he catches the football, he punts it and Michigan wins.  But ultimately, he didn't.  He dropped the football.

You are implying that Blake O'Neill's ability to catch a football is somehow dependent upon the formation, which is so insane it makes me want to jab pine needles into my eyeballs.

Penn Stink scored 3 points on us last year. That is one helluva start to an amazing comeback. What I want to see is Michigan going for a TD trailing by 10, when they could get an easy 3 on 4th down and put us on a real comeback. Then at the end of the 4th quarter tied we kick 3 to win it.

Franklin is obviously a very good recruiter and will consistently field a good team, but he is a dreadful schemer and game manager. JH should beat him 4/5 of the time and occasionally throttle him like last year.
