Blame it on the legend jerseys. Media got confused obviously.

I'm leaving the coaches off the All-Paying Attention Team this year
November 26th, 2012 at 7:25 PM ^
That is shocking. He played his best ball during conference play. Hm.

Patrick Omameh gets first team honors from the coaches.
November 26th, 2012 at 9:34 PM ^
That makes sense how, exactly? Voters are strange...
November 26th, 2012 at 7:28 PM ^
What a joke, lost all credibilty. Who were the guys that made it over him.
I blame Borges. /s
November 26th, 2012 at 7:28 PM ^
Wow, are you sure this is Jake mother fucking Ryan? As opposed to some regular Jake Ryan?
November 27th, 2012 at 11:53 AM ^
The Big Ten was afraid to put "Jake mother fucking Ryan" on a trophy. Chickens.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:30 PM ^
Who got it? I'm guessing Ryan got screwed because he was a sophomore.
No excuse for Kovacs not to receive anything though.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:32 PM ^
Absolute joke.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:37 PM ^
I find that hard to fathom honestly, that he would merely get an honorable mention from the coaches. Ryan literally accounts for about 10% of the team's total tackles, as well as 20% of all TFL and about the same percentage of sacks. He is undeniably a presence out there.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:40 PM ^

I heard coaches say he was like a mix of Woodley and Thor.

Stop talking to Fred Jackson.

Way to snub a guy who has two more years to dominate you, coaches.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:50 PM ^
But this is the type of stuff that can motivate you for the entire offseason. That makes you better in the long run. Can't wait to see his play in 2013.
November 26th, 2012 at 7:58 PM ^
Can someone tell me who got it ahead of him? That's an important piece here.
November 26th, 2012 at 8:02 PM ^
OK, I was good and pissed about JMFR not getting the accolades we all believe he deserves, but then they insult my intelligence with Micah Hyde, not only first-team coaches and media All-B1G, but he wins the DB of the year? I think Hyde got torched constantly this year, but more importantly, he had one (1) INT!!!!! So confused. I like Micah -- he's a good kid, but wtf?
I would've thought that one of the MSU DB's would've won this award.
November 26th, 2012 at 9:30 PM ^
In Iowa also. What a terrible selection. Good kid (for all intents and purposes and for all I even know), but on the field he was nooooooot good, let alone All-Conference worthy.
November 26th, 2012 at 9:50 PM ^
We all know it's "intensive purposes"...

Just another chance for the B1G coaches to look bad when he makes one of the All-American teams.

Pretty much no one watches the games and just got by pre-season talk and who are seniors and what not. It has always been this way. The year you blow up and have maybe your best year is the year you don't make 1st and 2nd teams. Next year he will be all over it. Its pretty dumb.
November 26th, 2012 at 10:06 PM ^
There are honestly no words...
The only explanation is people didn't watch any Michigan games this year. If they had they would know Jake MF Ryan was a beast the likes of which has never been seen.
November 26th, 2012 at 10:56 PM ^
Ryan should have at least been second team across the board, at the very least (I realize the media voted him 2nd team). Kovacs got shafted too. They definitely seem to put a lot of weight into seniority, and trying to spread the picks out evenly across the conference (not sure what the rules are there).
November 26th, 2012 at 11:09 PM ^
November 27th, 2012 at 1:42 PM ^
He's definitely a difference maker. How many guys have ran past him for a long touchdown?
November 26th, 2012 at 11:12 PM ^
But will say it again here. The B1G is loaded with very good LBs. While I think Ryan is at least a second team B1G player, it's not nearly the snub people are acting like because of the quality around Ryan. This really speaks to the quality of LB play in the B1G more than anything else.
November 26th, 2012 at 11:15 PM ^
Johnny Adams was a but exposed this year and got first team based on reputation and how good he was last year. Don't get me wrong, the guy can play and has the talent, but he didn't play like a first team all conference player this year.

It's just more tackling fuel, just more tackling fuel
