Jake Butt receives B1G Medal of Honor

Butt with Nicole Artz of Women's Gymnastics who won the female Medal of Honor.
Way to go Jake!
as well!
Michigan swept the awards with both the Male AND Female recipients???
#Hail
Big Ten award... not a UM award.
There would be SO much less confusion in this thread if WD did not use the term "gridder"
Ha I think that really was the root cause
Domino's Stadium. That will piss you off too.
a male and female (since 1982) athlete from each B1G school
So Jake and Nicole only swept the awards for all Universities in Ann Arbor?
Jake is a better person than Leonard Fournette and Christian McCaffrey for sure. TEAM first! I will always remember him laying it on the line one final time in that bowl game for the TEAM.
Fournette and McCaffery sitting out isn't an indictment on their personal character. Sitting out of a bowl game that isn't even a NY6 is smart, because a bowl game is an exhibition.
Plus how dare you speak ill of the McCaffery clan after all they've done for Michigan
(last part is /s)
One other thought:
Ken Higgins must have been one helluva a dude to beat out Harbaugh for this award in 1987.
Barely recognized him without the beard!
True honor for a Michigan Man!!
GO BLUE!!
-
a football player.
Never heard of that? It's an old-timey slang newspaper term for a football player. Comes from the word gridiron.
Other examples:
- swimming = tanker
- basketball = cager
- hockey = icer
- running = harrier
- volleyball = spiker
- wrestling = grappler
But I believe Gridder is an old, old wooden ship that was used during the Civil War era.
ermergersch girdders!
Tad Wieman (in my mind, pronounced, WEE-man) and Dick Balzhiser beat out Jake Butt for All-Name Team.
Friends from Down Under called the American brand of football "Gridiron".
