Leaders And Best

He had a great year and I don't have a problem him being invited. I think there are other worthy players who could also be there as well though like Jonathan Allen, Dalvin Cook, Christian McCaffrey, Adoree Jackson, Christian Wilkins, or Derek Barnett. I personally would pick a different finalist, but I can see why he would be selected to go to NYC.

Peppers is on the list because of his athletic ability and versatility playing many different positions.  But playing many different positions might also hurt his Heisman stock because they usually give the award to guys with gaudy stats.  It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.  My bet is Jackson or Watson get the award.

Great player, deserves the trip, but we can all acknowledge he isn't going to win. At least the program gets the exposure, and it'll be nice to see Harbaugh and company in New York talking about things we like to hear about. A reason to watch the ceremony again is always nice!

An elite LB or S he's not. Hopefully some smart coach in the NFL will find him a natural position that he can excel at... If not, he'll be relegated to kick/punt return duties like many other elite athletes before him.

Would have been a big disappointment to me if he was not invited.  Does Harbaugh go with him?  Would have to be a fast trip for Coach with all the visitors we have next weekend.

This topic on 11 Warriors is laughable. Bunch of underinformed teens on that site.

If someone doesn't understand the contributions of JP, then they shouldn't call themselves football fans.

Hearty congrats to Peppers and we will miss you next year.

Best of Luck going forward.

Peppers is going to get paid.

Enjoy.

Good luck to him, but I don't have any idea what it means to be a Heisman candidate.  I'd argue Lewis, Charlton, Glasgow, Wormley, hell even Darboh were as important to this team as Peppers was.  I get he's the big name and is a dynamic player, but I just don't know what the criteria is anymore.

He was absolutely an important part of the team, but I could argue that each of those other players had just as much an impact.  Glasgow had 9.5 TFLs, 4 sacks, 1 forced fumble, a PBU, and was a huge part of the dominant rush defense.  Charlton led the team in sacks despite missing a handful of games and was practically unblockable the last month of the season.  Lewis had a couple nice returns and absolutely shut down half the field.  Wormley destroyed tight ends and was another part of the dominant front line.  Peppers is great, and his value is measured more than by stats, but game-to-game there are a lot of players who were valuable to this team's success.
