Izzo "Doesn't plan on going anywhere"

Submitted by Supa Hot Fire on

Izzo also told Michigan State fans who are dissapointed and angry to "find another team." He said he is more proud of this team than any other he has ever coached. Funny stuff.

EXACTLY WHAT IVE BEEN SAYING SINCE THE STORY BROKE. He's not going anywhere and Dantonio isn't going anywhere. I said this repeatedly for the week or so this was in the news and had several very spirited debates on the subject. I will add this to my growing list of "unpleasant things I correctly predicted that nobody wanted to hear when I correctly predicted them."

Did you say Joe Pa was not going anywhere either. I think he had just a slight bit more staying power than Dan fuckin tonio. Izzo, Dantonio and Joe Pa are all one in the same. They all knew of rape and chose to not only turn a blind eye but cover it up. You tell me what is the difference. None of them did the raping themselves, but all of them sure could of prevented more of it. NO DIFFERENCE.

What i said repeatidly on the subject of MSU was the following:

1. The national media will get bored with this story and move on.  They have.

2. The local media has NO interest in doing anything that hurts their two coaching sacred cows in Dantonio & Izzo. They arent.

3. That neither Izzo nor Dantonio would leave MSU now or anytime in the near future.  They havent and they wont.

This was during the breathless thread posting epidemic on MSU following the ESPN article on the program.  I can even begin to tell you how many debates I got into with LOTS of people here on the subject who assured me I was wrong, wrong, wrong and something bad was going to happen to MSU because of it.

And I posted I would remind everyone of this when nothing happened.  I am.

I also posted that people wouldnt like it at ALL when i reminded folks of my correct prediction and that too has come to pass (see Monicle's comment and voting - btw the one down vote's not mine).  It's the way this place works.  Inform everybody that something unpleasant is going to happen and you get immediate negative feedback.  Be right in the prediction and remind people you were right and get even more negative feedback.

Generally speaking people here only want to hear happy things.

not that i think its impossible that izzo or dantonio would get ousted over this, but that even at the beginning of the big hullabaloo there was (and remains, in my mind) no clear path to the departure of either.   might speed a retirement.  izzo did look totally frazzled of late.  i get all of that.  its just that i doubt there is an ipso-facto, they are gone, result.

Not saying you won’t be proven right, but uh why exactly do you think this proves anything? Izzo continues to make arrogant statements that take zero responsibility - you going to come on here and gloat about water still being wet too?

mGrowOld you are correct.  The only way Izzo is out is if the FBI tells MSU it's either him or the millions of dollars of federal funding.  This is going to get interesting.  Funny this topic is up.  Friday on ESPN Seth Greenburg told Stephen A. that in Arizona's case, it's not gonna be losing that gets Sean Miller tossed on his ass, it's gonna be the 3 letter boyz investigation.

Who cares?. Look at Michigan's recruiting in both basketball and football. If they keep both clown's on so be it. They will just be incurring more losses. Dantonio is the next one to be saying "find another team".

I actually think both guys will be let go and much of it will be for there teams performance. Why would any parent want there kids to go to msu or psu. I have no respect for any football player at either school. They all no damn well what has transpired at both university's.

Funny how Izzo used to complain about how he couldn't get in on the nation's top recruits and now that he has a few, he can't get past the second round.

A lot of coaches have co-opted his "our primary goal is to get more possessions, so our big guys do nothing but crash the boards and foul," but he might as well go back to his role-playing grinders. Guys who think they're superstars won't go for playing such a limited role.

Jaren Jackson will probably be a top-10 pick and Izzo had no idea what to do with him. He was just as invisible in the Big Ten tourney, and it's probably not possible for Langford to play any worse. He might as well transfer to EMU.

I want to watch Beilein pick him apart in the coming years. Beilein built Michigan while contending with MSU as a national power in his backyard. Izzo was a 500 coach until our program imploded.

Really? Those bullets must’ve been tough. Keep playing the victim Tommy. Meanwhile the real victims who you supposedly were looking out for will continue to break down the wall at MSU. If you really want to bring respect back to MSU then leave and own up to the rotten culture you’ve created. Until then shut the fuck up.

God his act is so old and other than recruiting he's definitely fading fast.

If he doesn't learn X's and O's from Beilein, he could learn to shut his mouth and win and lose with class and dignity.

Also he has looked terrible. The guy is 63 and has aged 20 years these past three years.

the guy in front we call 'the key,' an obvious euphemism for the guy who is going to open the door.  works better to have a big guy be the key, but not always required.

Beilein and the UM roster will be gunning for elite status next year. MSU visits A2 and will receive a beat down. Izzo has protected thugs for years and received favorable draws in the tourney - let him live under the microscope with the awareness that his March reputation is evaporating.

“I took a lot of bullets this year”

“Hopefully, there will even be some people in this room that eat their words”

Does he hear himself? What a self loving asshat. He’s making all of this about him and the reputation of his program. Do us all a favor Tom, do some self reflecting and realize that you HAVE been a part of the problem and digging your heels in and playing the victim will NOT help the university heal
