Doubting this coaching staff or this teams exceptionalism (lol) BEFORE the game is agreeably stupid.
Complaining about poor coaching, and a pathetically UNexceptional team after that shit show tonight is entirely valid.
I don't doubt they'll get to work tomorrow, but that game was ass.

They have improved the Hoke recruits who did not get the proper coaching to begin with. We'll have to wait for Harbaugh OL recruits before we have good OL again.

Braden had a truly godawful game. Bredeson also stunk. Kalis was no great shakes. That's just on live viewing. No doubt UFR will come up with a bunch of plays blown by each one of the O-line. That unit grades out at a solid D- tonight, if I'm being nice.

I'm officially tired of the way we use Deveon Smith

Speight just can't hit the long ball. I figured he would cost a game with a 3 star effort.
November 12th, 2016 at 11:46 PM ^
Speight is not a championship winning quality QB and we don't have a championship winning line. The talk about how Speight was a lock for the job next year was premature as he and the offense have failed to produce in our two toughest games.

Two toughest games???
It's just this one.
Offense was 6/6 on their first 6 drives in East Lansing and against Wisconsin (who has an elite defense, unlike Iowa) they should've scored 23. Not the O's fault we couldn't make field goals.

Nothing worked...nothing. We should have been up by a couple of T's in the first quarter but for a few bad passes.
November 12th, 2016 at 11:46 PM ^
We were bad tonight but we have come a long way in less than 2 seasons. I think Cole is better at Tackle than at Center and SP8 had a bad bad night but there is still a lot to play for. Smith is a great pass blocker but is just not that dynamic in the run game. I hope we get by Indiana but it is hard to see how we beat the Buckeyes without a couple more recruiting cycles.

Smith just looked so slow getting to the holes. Several were open and he just couldn't get there

my memory is off cause I'm a litte buzzed, but I don't remember Issac getting any other carries other than the TD tonight.

Congrats guys, that was the worse effort I've seen since Harbaugh took over.

It actually wasn't Kalis. It was Hill.

It did definitely look like Kalis, but SpaceCoyote and others on twitter pointed out that DL was supposed to get passed off to Hill. I trust them to know.

The blockers may not have helped, but it was Smith's fault. When he saw the DT, instead of diving - immediately - to get out of the endzone, he came to a complete stop and stood up, losing all forward momentum and any chance of avoiding the safety.

Completely blew it. Chesson played like utter shit. Utter fucking shit. Speight can't throw on the road, period. Honestly,, I could give a shit about losing to Iowa, but we're getting crushed by OSU. Absolutely crushed. We have sucked on the road for a fucking decade and we'll get smashed again. We need an actual good QB. No some cast off from some trash team that Harbaugh has to work magic on to make half-way decent but an actual QB. Hoke set this team back years with his QB recruiting. We have no viable QBs next year except a true freshman, which is to say we have none at all.
November 12th, 2016 at 11:58 PM ^
But I agree about OSU, we're gong to get demolished.
November 13th, 2016 at 12:24 AM ^
He'll be an RS Frosh just like Speight was. He's supposedly more talented but he'll be heading up a team with a considerably worse defense so I'm guessing he'll be asked to do more than Speight has. O'Korn improving seems like a low probability event at this point in his career. Speight will probably improve, but his WR will be a down-grade and don't know how much improvement we can expect. I don't think we'll have a playoff contender worthy offense until Peters is a RS Junior with some experience at the skill positions. That's a long damn time from now.
November 13th, 2016 at 2:21 AM ^
coming down the pipeline! Things will change by 2019, we will be blowing out teams that we should.

Poor blocking, not protecting the ball, a couple deep balls that were just off-target, running silly pitch plays and Peppers wildcat plays when a lot of downs called for hammering through 4 YPC on the ground. Recipe for a loss on the road at Iowa in a night game no matter what kind of talent mismatch exists.
