Iowa Prediction

Been away from the site this week. I am not so sure Michigan took "The Leap" in destroying Rutgers. Iowa looks locked and ready while Michigan seems to still be figuring things out. Unless Dwumfour is 100% healthy, the DL may get pushed around by Iowa. May be Hinton gets more minutes. Not feeling great about the matchup. I hope to god we light them up and announce ourselves as legit in the race for B1G championship.

Michigan get's up early, Iowa gets out of their game plan and as a result turnovers help us this time.

Michigan 34, Iowa 24

I watch enough of Iowa to tell you that they're more like Michigan, Jr. as opposed to Wisconsin, Jr. Like Michigan they have a solid defense and an old-school offense that can be downright dysfunctional and infuriating to watch at times. The games they lose are often long, ugly slogs that tend to resemble Michigan's losses.

It'll be a real battle this Saturday to see which team can beat themselves more. I'm hoping Michigan can turn this ship around and shake off the early season funk.

Iowa 52-0.  I thought M would beat OSU last year, they got blown out. I thought they would beat Florida, same. I thought they would beat W, same. Hoping reverse psychology works.

Iowa looked locked. in beating Rutgers 2 D2 team's and an 2-2 Iowa St team that outgained IU by 150 yards. the same Iowa St team that almost lost to northern Iowa.

I have no illusions of a cakewalk, but my gut is oddly at peace with this one (maybe it's because I didn't take that extra beer brat at dinner last night).  Nevertheless, my gut is usually right going into games.  I should trust it more.  I knew Army would be a dog fight, Wisconsin would be brutal, and Rutger would be a confidence builder.  UofM played very poorly in the first three games, but they also had a logic defying run of bad luck working against them.  I expect that to regress back toward the mean this week.  Couple that with the improved execution we saw last week, and a much healthier (albeit still underweight) interior d-line, and we will play a much better game.

I give UM the edge in AA. I had a bad gut feeling before UW and this just feels different. I think we get the motivated, locked in team.

Everyone was saying Joe Klatt was being hyperbolic about this game defining the Harbaugh era, but I kinda agree. This is game 5 of year 5. This is do or die for the season. If we lose this game, we probably end up with 5 or 6 loses this year honestly

Our chance of winning will be determined by our offense scoring points. We have a lot of talent on offense, enough to score over 30 points on Iowa, enough to win the game 33-27. If the offense turns into a dud again, we'll lose 27-16. So, I'm hoping the offense shows up.

I bought tickets for Kinnick Stadium twice; that's two tickets because nobody I know wants to go to Iowa.  I ate the first one when my cousin's nutjob fiance set the date and I couldn't not show.  It was 2001 and this was the only game I missed.  We spent much of the reception in the bar watching Michigan come back to win.

The second one was 2005 and the students were admitted at midnight (general admission--maybe Dave Brandon suggested it) and were pretty inebriated by kickoff.  Kirk Ferentz had a brain fart on 3rd down with :30 to play and essentially threw the game away.  It was the only time Iowa ran an inside screen all season long.  He settled for overtime and so of course Michigan won.

The two memorable things about Iowa City were (1) the cheer [I-O-W-A Iowa Iowa Iowa!] which was inane but incessant and (2) the coed whose shirt proclaimed "If you ain't a Hawkeye you ain't shit" with which I completely agree.

Michigan 28, Iowa 17 in a game that's closer than the score. We blow out Illinois next week and the Penn State game determines whether this team is a contender.

I've Got a Feeling, to borrow a title from The Beatles, that Michigan will come to play ball.  I think this is the first of a nice string of wins against ranked opponents and I think it's by at least 10 points.
