This game is cursed and should never be spoken of again

Suit yourself - I love thrilling wins without 4 of our elite players.

Are you seriously posting this in EVERY thread?
November 19th, 2022 at 4:29 PM ^
Win is a win!
November 19th, 2022 at 4:34 PM ^
Do you need to post the same thing in every thread? I agreed with it the first time I read it.

It’s a warning, lest anyone revisit and become

Voldemor…. Uh…. You’re right. The game which shall not be named.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:39 PM ^
I'm just happy for the seniors.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:39 PM ^
The ultimate ‘I trust our D’ move to kick down 4 points on 4th and 11 with 3 minute to go. Hats off to a great coach!
November 19th, 2022 at 3:45 PM ^
True.
Takes some stones to make that call.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:09 PM ^
It’s a tough call. Illinois can move the football.
More of a coin toss to me. An NFL decision.
And the D came up big and it worked.
They gave up that TD to go down and could not afford to give up any more points, and they did not.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:22 PM ^
Didn't feel like much of a choice; it was 11 to go and Michigan wasn't going to score a touchdown without Corum
November 19th, 2022 at 4:39 PM ^
Agree. I thought it was a rather obvious call given the down and distance, time left, and all three timeouts.
November 19th, 2022 at 6:45 PM ^
At that point, given our rather porous D, I was urging them to go for it. Good thing I’m not the coach.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:44 PM ^
Big guts in the effort. Big concern with the lack of pass rush from our front 4, minus Morris.
Also want to note major disappointment in the student section crowd. This was homecoming, the last game of the year, and a must win game, and that section was only 2/3 full.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:08 PM ^
Oh I didn't know it was homecoming. Michigan seems to always underwhelm in homecoming games.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:13 PM ^
Student section always crams way the hell down from the top rows. More so when it’s cold. Also wouldn’t surprise if a lot of students have placed out early for Thanksgiving.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:16 PM ^
Agreed, though it was not, in fact, homecoming.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:32 PM ^
Would've been nice to see some more students, but what does homecoming have to do with them?
November 19th, 2022 at 6:56 PM ^
It was really cold today. It was also windy. There were a shit-ton of non-students who didn’t show up. It’s easily viewable if you want to look on the TV. Whining about student attendance from your couch is stupid when it is 70 degrees and dipshit moronic when it is 25 degrees.
When you want to complain about the students, just don’t. Go to your outhouse and read your Sears Robuck catalog and think about all the fun you had when you were young playing stick and hoop
November 19th, 2022 at 8:31 PM ^
Nice try - Maryland was homecoming…
but keep your righteous disappointment
November 20th, 2022 at 8:44 AM ^
I got major negs last week for criticizing the student section which was only half full at halftime of the Nebraska game and maybe 1/3 full by the 4th quarter. (Fortunately I made enough witty comments throughout the week to stay on the plus side of 2200 points)
My buddy commented to me during the pregame promo video that M students have enthusiasm unknown to mankind only if it's a sunny day and over 50 degrees.
TV was using an endzone shot that highlighted the diminishing student section as the game went on - not a good look for us.
BTW is was "senior day" not homecoming.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:44 PM ^
There were just enough key stops. There times Chase Brown gashed the defense. They gave up 14 pts in the 2nd half but again, this was a hard earned win.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:58 PM ^
Zero points in the 4th Quarter - all year!
November 19th, 2022 at 8:37 PM ^
I believed you…then remembered the late TD Maryland got
November 19th, 2022 at 3:44 PM ^
If this defense can hold OSU to 20ish points next week I like our chances in The Game.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:45 PM ^
Missed Mike Morris. Gotta recruit the LB position heavily.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:44 PM ^
Devito was getting it out quick, but not much pass rush at all. Okie has disappeared over the last month.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:45 PM ^
Very good against a motivated team playing for a Big10 title. Clutch at the end. DJ with a great tackle and stop. 11 & 0. DJ has been quite a playmaker this year. as has Will. Need the whole secondary and team to be at their best next week.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:45 PM ^
I said it before. I will say it again. I remember us losing to Iowa before OSU on a similar crappy game. This Defense came up clutch when needed. Onward
November 19th, 2022 at 3:46 PM ^
Cannot complain much about the D. They kept Brown in check and were hung out to dry by the offense and spent waaaay too much time on the field in the 2nd half.
Plus the 4th down stops. Wow!
November 19th, 2022 at 3:48 PM ^
The coaching is making this team play above its talent level on defense.
Sure, we have great talent/depth at many spots, but we absolutely lack the pass rushing proficiency typical of a contender - and that’s largely due to the depth chart at edge.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:48 PM ^
A couple bad drives in there but this defense continues to be lights out. Also looks like Johnson has passed Turned at corner. Great performance out of the secondary today.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:52 PM ^
CLUTCH
November 19th, 2022 at 3:53 PM ^
Pass rush generated zero pressure today. That is a very bad omen going into Columbus because thats how you get destroyed. Its gonna be way more like 2018 than it is like 2021
November 19th, 2022 at 4:15 PM ^
Morris will help, as will going against a weaker running game. Biggest difference vs other games was the opponent having first down success, and a lot of that was Chase Brown.
November 19th, 2022 at 3:53 PM ^
They did their jobs today. Not their best performance but they made the plays they needed to make. They miss Mike Morris for sure.
What I’m concerned about, though, is that there was zero pass rush today. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Illinois had time to do whatever they wanted to do. Yes, there was no Mike Morris and that’s not nothing, but the fact that they still got none on Illinois is a really, really bad omen going into next week.
If you get no pressure on Stroud, you have no chance barring a completely offensive rampage of your own. You thought Illinois carved you up? That’s nothing compared to what OSU can do.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:13 PM ^
Saved me the trouble of a long post. This D will not stop OSU
November 19th, 2022 at 3:55 PM ^
Played well 3/4 of the game. That other 1/4, though...
November 19th, 2022 at 3:56 PM ^
Junior year Will Johnson, Graham, and Grant are going to be so SO good… also excited about Rolder
November 19th, 2022 at 3:56 PM ^
Came through at end for sure but can I get a pass rush?
November 19th, 2022 at 4:01 PM ^
The defense did what it had to but the complete lack of pass rush is a problem. Pray for bad weather in a week.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:01 PM ^
Mason Graham is coming along nicely.
November 19th, 2022 at 7:08 PM ^
Seriously hope we can keep him for three years
November 19th, 2022 at 8:52 PM ^
Where would he go? Can’t enter the draft before 3 years.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:01 PM ^
I know we only gave up 17, but Illinois gift wrapped us at least 3 plays that probably would have extended drives. A false start, a bad snap, and I forget the last one, but they were for the most part unforced errors.
We got ran on more than usual and Morris being out was noticeable because the pass rush was completely non existent.
Next week is going to be a completely different animal and honestly I think if we can keep them under 40 it’s a win for the defense.
November 19th, 2022 at 5:25 PM ^
Hell, it's at the half vs Maryland and OSU has but 10. They are not a juggernaut.
November 19th, 2022 at 9:46 PM ^
They also flat out dropped two easy passes for first downs. Hit 'em in the hands, no defender involved.
November 19th, 2022 at 4:02 PM ^
The defense is good. Would like to see what we’ve been sitting on in terms of pash rush schemes. We’ve been sitting on that stuff so far, right?
November 19th, 2022 at 4:02 PM ^
Defense played soft in the first half, seemingly trying to keep everything in front of them, but also didn't shut Illinois down in the second half, and didn't seem to adjust to what they were doing very well... was exacerbated by DeVito making plays. Bert is goofy, but can coach .
