Hoops: Youssef Khayat is announcing at 2 pm eastern time today
He is the 6’9 Lebanese player Howard has been recruiting very hard lately. Final four of Michigan, DePaul, Wake Forest and Xavier with most saying Michigan and Xavier are essentially his final two.
Here is what he said about his top 2. The others he gave the “they are recruiting me hard so I put them in my top 4” fluff.
“For me they have experience with international players like Mo Wagner and Moussa Diabaté. I think them having experience with international players is very impressive. The name Michigan is so important in the USA so that paired with their experience with international players plus being a well known program is kind of unique.”
To be fair, he praised Xavier too:
“Sean Miller is a brilliant coach with experience with foreign players. He had Lauri Markkanen and a lot of big players come through his program. They’re a big program that I’ve been watching this past year. I think they’re very impressive. With the new head coach and assistant coaches they’re very hard working so they’re impressive.”
Going to Oregon also?
Michigan has a very legit shot here. He'll be announcing at 2PM Eastern on the Field of 68's You Tube channel:

Can he play guard?
Or tackle. We'll take either
How about first base?
Better yet, send him to the Tigers if he can hit better than .230 (I know, low bar---but most nights Detroit has 5 or more in the starting lineup who are well below that level).
He said Mo not Franz? That hurts some feelings.
Mo is the movie star, not Franz.
His favorite American actor is so it isn't a surprise that he'd only focus on that one brother.
Now I will have to be refreshing MGoBlog every 20 seconds starting at 2pm EDT to find out where a kid I had never heard about until a couple of days ago will be going to school for a couple years.
Boom. Recruiting.
Recruit watching is like tailgating...
....but without the food and booze.
True that.
Today will FEEL like a win or not,
• even though few of us had heard of him till recently (or until today),
• AND even though, if we "win," we have no way of knowing how his skills will develop, or how he will mesh with his teammates, his coach, and the school.
Being in the top 2 makes it feel like a coin flip. Hope it’s weighted in our favor. His comments about Michigan feel strongly favored to us (compared to his Xavier comments)
…heads it is! Welcome to Michigan young man!!

This kid has skills. Can handle the ball, get to the basket, and shoot. The question is, can he defend?
Supposedly he has plus wingspan and was a decent defender at the level of pro ball he was playing overseas. It remains to be seen for this level of competition but it seems like he has the size length and agility that you can teach defense
Who's going to do the teaching?
Snarky, but true
He is the Boa.
His off ball defense, awareness, and ability to utilize wingspan in the passing lanes are all positives that I’ve seen from different scouting reports.
He doesn’t seem to be a great individual defender in ISO and may not have the quickest lateral movement out there.
overall, with some coaching, he could probably be a very good defender in the B1G.
Sad this kid I bearly heard of is going to make or break my day, lol
One year, for Halloween, I was bearly. I made furry arms and bought some clawed bear paws. I was the right to bear arms. My mocking of the second amendment coupled with my inability to type got me sent home early. I won the day.
$3 million says it'll be Oregon...
Internet scuttlebutt is saying UM will be the choice. Here’s to hoping scuttlebutt knows what it’s talking about! 🤞🏻
But, but! The scuttle!
This makes me want shawarma.
Guessing Sean Miller "finds a way" to land him.
Go Blue!!! Smart young man!
Let's go! Excited for him to join the team
Welcome, Mr. Khayat!
