I'm pretty sure that fits Leaders and Best

Hi snowflake.  You must have been born recently and not watched much college football before the BCS/CFP/whatever-they-rename-it-later.

One of the biggest motivators in college football has always been beating one's rivals; as true now as it was decades ago.  We still have our largest three ahead of us and can spoil their seasons a bit and help rebuild our program in doing so.  That's reason enough.

Harbaugh's teams have never regrouped?  Did you watch this game?  They were down 21-0 before the end of the first half and could have easily shut it down then.  They didn't - they rallied and damn near tied the game (with a non-zero prospect of winning in regulation) - and that was just in one game.

They could have given up after losing to Wisc this season, or losing to ND  last season, or to any of the other mid season losses in previous years... but they didn't.  Maybe you never played sports as a kid, but there are goals that are more important than simply winning/losing - and getting in a huff and quitting mid season just because things don't go your way isn't a good method to build character.

Better than not beating the spread.  Yeah, the team was fun to watch in the second half and it felt like they would be starting in the second quarter.

I am not one to assign blame to individuals so this thread is better than some of the others.

Look it sucks but did you think we would win? The team played better than I expected but that’s not saying a lot. They were in close range of tying the game at the end so at least they didn’t give up like they seemingly did at Wisconsin. But our program isn’t elite. We are solidly on the second tier of B1G teams, miles behind our biggest rival and fighting the other also rans for second third or fourth place. It’s unlikely this season we will beat anyone we aren’t supposed to and hopefully we don’t drop more than 2 more games, with a tough slog ahead in most of the remaining contests. If your feelings get hurt because we lost, your expectations weren’t grounded in reality. Thus far Harbaughs teams never beat anyone great on the road, never beat teams they aren’t supposed to beat, and will win between 8-10 games. Can that change next year? Sure maybe but this shouldn’t be surprising if you watched the team this season. Appreciate the fight the team showed today but we are far from great and there’s probably not much to fix that until another year and team come around and maybe we get some good luck and our opponents don’t.

Yes, I thought we would win. PSU isn’t a great team either. Before tonight, their best win was 17-12 over Iowa. They are a young team, especially at the skilled positions and are not as good as Michigan. Michigan should have won against a similar, but younger team. Moral victories are for teams that are above you, not similar to you.

Ya'll flakey fucks won't deserve it when Michigan beats ND at night next week. Or when they manhandle MSU. This team is good but not good enough to overcome too many drops and too many gifts from the refs on the road.

I've seen some heartbreakers over the years and this one ain't even in the top 10. I was there in person when Michigan got curbstomped by OSU last year and also when Michigan got boned by the refs in 2016. I was there when Saquon ran all over us in 2017, I was there when Zeke humiliated us at home in Harbaugh's first year. I was there when Gardner gave his soul and came up short.

Michigan is so close to breaking through. Fuck, man, I seriously think we are 2014-Clemson close! This is Gattis's first mother-fucking year! Hang tight.

The second half offense was inspiring, I will say.  For the first time this season I thought we started taking the training wheels off.  If not for the awful WR drops or the two big derps on defense this game would be different.  I am inspired by the team's fight.  It's obvious they haven't given up and that is a huge credit to their will and character.  I have a lot of hope for the rest of the season, especially game 12 where I now believe we have a solid chance to shake the proverbial monkey from our backs.

I've been on this blog for nearly 10 years including during some of the worst Michigan football years.  I came here because I discovered the amazing discussions and insights on the Xs and Os of football were not found elsewhere. These discussions contributed even more to my love of the game. The past two years have been the most toxic I've seen it here. Tonight was a let down, but I haven't seen this place meltdown in such catastrophic fashion as tonight.
