Shawn will never own up to his stupid hot takes. He still hasn't taken responsibility for his fire Beilein cries. When it's time to face the music, he just makes a new account and challenges everyone to link comments to banned and deleted account. Really he's just an incorrigible coward.
February 26th, 2019 at 8:47 AM ^
Next time just reply:
I'm so confused.
We will understand and agree.
February 25th, 2019 at 8:56 PM ^
Where’s your support for this “lie?”
I am genuinely asking. They have found some gems, but do I expect them to hit on every low-ranked prospect, no. But there’s no need to be a negative turd ALL THE TIME. Your first instinct seems to just immediately be negative. You could literally say, “I am somewhat disappointed that this recruit is not currently ranked higher, but I hope he does well for us.” Instead you just come off as a jerk.
February 25th, 2019 at 9:17 PM ^
My support is that out of all the 3 star recruits Harbaugh has taken commitments from the only guys who turned into all B1G players are Karan Higdon and Khaleke Hudson. Two. That's it.
February 25th, 2019 at 9:28 PM ^
"Runyan was a disaster against anyone with a pulse this year, his all B1G inclusion was befuddling to say the least"
At least you're contradictory, and yet somehow always wrong?
February 25th, 2019 at 9:01 PM ^
He said “many times,” not “most times” or “more often than not,” and provided examples to prove his point. So he was in fact telling the truth. You are such a miserable fuck that you don’t understand that. Please respond to me and prove you are the liar, Shawn Maizen.
February 25th, 2019 at 9:15 PM ^
Then what is the cutoff between hitting on lower-rated recruits at an elite coaching/scouting level vs. the same level as the average P5 coach.
For example, if Harbaugh is finding gems in 50-60% of these lower-rated recruits, is he really scouting them at a much better rate than say Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan State, and etc.?
February 26th, 2019 at 6:12 PM ^
IMO the point that is being missed is that you take project players when 1. You do not feel good about your likelihood of signing higher rated players or 2., you have an embarrassment of riches / extra scollies to roll the dice with or #3 , the likeliest of all, you take them as a commit but process them before NSD if a better option comes along.
February 26th, 2019 at 2:39 PM ^
Biff checked his "book" and saw that this kid was named first team All American in 2023. Doc said we had to sign him.
February 25th, 2019 at 9:37 PM ^
What is a fact? That he is only the 800th best player in high school football? Or that one service just ranked him there, based on limited information, and that he might possibly be way better, and have enormous potential?
February 25th, 2019 at 9:37 PM ^

I don't know why people react to trolls like this. Ignore them long enough and they'll go away
February 26th, 2019 at 10:39 AM ^
The “fact” is it’s just under a year before the rankings are finalized. A year ago Zach Charbonnet wasn’t even in the top 40, and finished as a top 50 recruit. We had guys commit to us that didn’t even have a recruiting profile that ended up mid-to-high three stars.
I won’t even get into the list of players who were ranked lower than this and went on to have excellent college and pro careers. People get tired of explaining it to you.
Your trolling is pathetic and it’s gotten to the point where it’s barely coherent and it’s obviously not very well thought out.
February 25th, 2019 at 9:00 PM ^
More like he's just tired of 15 years of our quarterbacks getting mashed to goo while our OTs lay on their backs nearby? I know I am.
February 25th, 2019 at 9:22 PM ^
Shhhhh.....
Happy thoughts. Only happy thoughts.
February 25th, 2019 at 11:11 PM ^
Bingo. It's amazing how anyone can watch 20 years of UM football getting it's ass kicked by OSU and not realize we need better players. Truly amazing.
February 26th, 2019 at 1:10 AM ^
Truly amazing people can't understand some of us our going to welcome the kids who want to represent the Maize n Blue, even if they are incapable of helping UofM be the bestest, but just a small step down from the bestest.
February 26th, 2019 at 10:37 AM ^
1-15 against our arch rival is hardly "a small step down from the bestest".
It's not a rivalry anymore, really. It's a near-certain W box check for OSU at the start of every season.
Some people's sense of "next year will be it" is just more enduring than others. I made it through the RichRod and Hoke years, but my eternal optimism seems to have perished with Harbaugh's continuing futility against OSU, and losing top tier coaches and recruits to clearly better teams, including OSU.
February 26th, 2019 at 11:18 AM ^
To be fair I'm just talking about the last four years and this "arch rival" you speak of was "one of the bestest", especially if you go by Shawn's Spreadsheet of Recruiting Awesomeness!
Can't see why it causes so much angst to lose to clearly more talented teams who are most assuredly not playing by all the rules.
Personally, I'd rather have the 2 losses each year with the family atmosphere and not have to support any misogynistic rape cultures, but maybe that's just me.
February 26th, 2019 at 1:27 PM ^
I don't think your lily-white sense of the program aligns with reality. There have been numerous off-field issues in recent years, and our recruiting practices, in terms of gray listing, over-signing, and pulling offers last second, have eroded in integrity as well. Are we the worst? No. But that's not really the metric I'd like to see applied.
February 26th, 2019 at 3:00 PM ^
Well your dark cynical attitude comparing misogyny to pulling a recruits offer .....just sucks!
February 27th, 2019 at 2:07 PM ^
DAMNIT HARBAUGH! WHY DIDN'T YOU FIX THE PROBLEM 15 YEARS AGO YOU MISERABLE TURD OF A COACH!
February 25th, 2019 at 7:54 PM ^
Shawn L. Martin is a p.o.s. yippee
February 25th, 2019 at 7:56 PM ^
Now, now.....celebrate that they chose to come to the school we cheer for. Some of us were, after all, not on a composite list of any kind unless it involved things like "Top 100 People Not Allowed In This Bar".
February 25th, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
Dear LSAClassof2000,
Please, please, PLEASE ban Hei2man (or whatever the latest iteration of the troll account is). Michah just signed up for a few years of work and pain for our entertainment and it's irritating that this dude is crapping on his welcome post.
Best,
Brimley
LSAClassof1984

i'm cosigning with brimley.
all in favor, say 'aye!'
February 25th, 2019 at 11:07 PM ^
There's really no point in banning him. He will make a new account. The downside is that anyone relatively new who joins the site and says something negative will be called a Maizen. I don't think we should discourage criticism or punish new members.
February 26th, 2019 at 12:16 AM ^
If someone new shows up blasting the program then I think that’s a problem and ban worthy on a pro-Michigan blog
Aye!
February 26th, 2019 at 1:48 AM ^
If you actually read through the thread I'm not crapping on anyone. It's pretty clear the mgomoron brigade got triggered over a simple post stating his ranking. If anyone needs to be banned it's the people who are name calling and making this personal. Should be no place for that in this community.
February 26th, 2019 at 4:26 AM ^
***placing a marker here to remind myself and others of the previously-deleted "Hello?" thread and the still-standing "Buckle up for Football" thread, both of which have evidence to the contrary
February 26th, 2019 at 9:15 AM ^
Placing a marker here because anyone who doesn't have monolithic positive thoughts about everything causes people like rob to whine and cry. I don't need to defend myself because anything I have ever posted that could be construed as negative, which gasp, is allowed by the way because UM isn't perfect, has been nothing but factual. I don't name call, I don't make things personal, and any umbrage I may have is always directed at the million dollar coaches. So please stop conflating stating facts and statistics that people don't like with anything else. Shit is getting real old.
February 26th, 2019 at 5:17 PM ^
Hey douche bag, there's nothing wrong with listing unflattering stats and having negative opinions about the football program. You're not gonna find you have many friends if you do it incessantly but that's your prerogative. What you're not seeming to grasp, which is obvious to everyone else, is that there's a time and place for it and the kids "Hello" post is not it.
Fuck off.
February 26th, 2019 at 10:37 PM ^
I am on that list for the “Big Whiskey “ saloon in Olympia Washington. Lifetime ban, well earned.
Apologies for the not so humblebrag.
Also, fuck you Maizen, #800 is way better than you ever were, you douche nozzle.
Go Blue!!
edit: was responding to LSAs comment.
February 25th, 2019 at 7:57 PM ^
And he'll have a better education than you, asshat!
Hey Boots!
February 25th, 2019 at 8:04 PM ^
Seriously give it a rest. We all know his ranking. I guarantee Ed Warriner did more analysis on this kid than any recruiting service.
February 26th, 2019 at 9:30 AM ^
Michigan recently gets 1-2 early lower-ranked, under the radar, OL commits while still recruiting the top ones. Its better than scrambling to fill out the class at the end if you whiff on the top recruits. He's from Biff Poggi's school, coaching father of player Henry. His teammate is currently the top recruit in our class.
We are always looking for OTs! Its been our recent recruiting Achilles heel.
I trust Ed Warriner and Biff Poggi!
February 26th, 2019 at 3:30 PM ^
That’s a good take. Recruit some can’t miss candidates, knowing that some will go elsewhere, some you’ll sign and won’t work out for various reasons, and some will crush it in the field. Fill the rest of the OL spots with guys you identify as players you want on your team, rivals/247/ESPN rankings be damned. Sounds like a recipe for a foundation of excellent olines, with little to no drop off from season to season. Kind of what Wisconsin does
Lastly, not every guy is going pro, and at a institution like Michigan, there’s nothing wrong with graduating educated young men to be leaders in their chosen field
February 25th, 2019 at 8:05 PM ^
you’re a bold guy. I don’t agree with you, but I’ll admire your willingness to go against the grain. At one time, we’re you once a critical Florida State fan?
February 25th, 2019 at 8:05 PM ^
In fairness to the coaching staff, the recruiting sites are notoriously bad at ranking OLs. It's likely the coaches see something the recruiting sites don't.
February 25th, 2019 at 8:35 PM ^
Another false narrative people like to parrot with no statistical evidence to back it up.
February 25th, 2019 at 8:59 PM ^
I actually believe this to be true, but again, I have no statistical evidence to back it up.
I’ll volunteer to pull the recruiting ranks of all the o-line starters for the NFC North division as a sample size if others want to volunteer their time with the other divisions.
February 25th, 2019 at 10:37 PM ^
Ok, so somewhat of a small sample size but here are the rankings of the starting linemen in the NFC North division. For recruits not ranked, I gave them all a ranking of 2000 as some were surely ranked higher and some were surely ranked lower. Rankings based off the 247 composite rankings.
Average ranking = 1,016
Detroit:
Taylor Decker - 163
Frank Ragnow - 324
Graham Glasgow - (2000)
Kenny Wiggins - 1738
Rick Wagner - (2000)
Green Bay:
David Bakhtiari - 1750
Lane Taylor - 906
Corey Linsley - 199
Adam Pankey - 1588
Bryan Bulaga - 64
Chicago:
Charles Leno Jr. - 771
James Daniels - 338
Cody Whitehair - 1171
Kyle Long - 292
Bobbie Massie - 154
Minnesota:
Riley Reiff - 579
Tom Compton - (2000)
Pat Elflein - 998
Mike Remmers - (2000)
Rashod Hill - 1293
Avg Ranking: 1,016
February 25th, 2019 at 11:11 PM ^
Thanks for doing that. Honestly expected the answer to be closer to 500, and not over 1000.
February 26th, 2019 at 12:14 AM ^
Wow! Thanks for THAT!
Even if an extreme outlier, it represents 16% of total population, as opposed to recruiting rankings which are about 0.002% of total population.
I'm too lazy to help out more but you totally sold me!

I wonder if maizen will respond to this
