3 star OT from Biff Poggi's program in Maryland

Where’s your support for this “lie?”

I am genuinely asking. They have found some gems, but do I expect them to hit on every low-ranked prospect, no. But there’s no need to be a negative turd ALL THE TIME. Your first instinct seems to just immediately be negative. You could literally say, “I am somewhat disappointed that this recruit is not currently ranked higher, but I hope he does well for us.” Instead you just come off as a jerk.

He said “many times,” not “most times” or “more often than not,” and provided examples to prove his point. So he was in fact telling the truth. You are such a miserable fuck that you don’t understand that. Please respond to me and prove you are the liar, Shawn Maizen.

Then what is the cutoff between hitting on lower-rated recruits at an elite coaching/scouting level vs. the same level as the average P5 coach.

For example, if Harbaugh is finding gems in 50-60% of these lower-rated recruits, is he really scouting them at a much better rate than say Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan State, and etc.?

IMO the point that is being missed is that you take project players when 1. You do not feel good about your likelihood of signing higher rated players  or 2., you have an embarrassment of riches / extra scollies to roll the dice with or  #3 , the likeliest of all, you take them as a commit but process them before NSD if a better option comes along.

The “fact” is it’s just under a year before the rankings are finalized. A year ago Zach Charbonnet wasn’t even in the top 40, and finished as a top 50 recruit. We had guys commit to us that didn’t even have a recruiting profile that ended up mid-to-high three stars.

I won’t even get into the list of players who were ranked lower than this and went on to have excellent college and pro careers. People get tired of explaining it to you.

Your trolling is pathetic and it’s gotten to the point where it’s barely coherent and it’s obviously not very well thought out.

1-15 against our arch rival is hardly "a small step down from the bestest".

It's not a rivalry anymore, really. It's a near-certain W box check for OSU at the start of every season.

Some people's sense of "next year will be it" is just more enduring than others. I made it through the RichRod and Hoke years, but my eternal optimism seems to have perished with Harbaugh's continuing futility against OSU, and losing top tier coaches and recruits to clearly better teams, including OSU.

To be fair I'm just talking about the last four years and this "arch rival" you speak of was "one of the bestest", especially if you go by Shawn's Spreadsheet of Recruiting Awesomeness!

Can't see why it causes so much angst to lose to clearly more talented teams who are most assuredly not playing by all the rules.

Personally, I'd rather have the 2 losses each year with the family atmosphere and not have to support any misogynistic rape cultures, but      maybe     that's       just      me.

I don't think your lily-white sense of the program aligns with reality. There have been numerous off-field issues in recent years, and our recruiting practices, in terms of gray listing, over-signing, and pulling offers last second, have eroded in integrity as well. Are we the worst? No. But that's not really the metric I'd like to see applied.

If you actually read through the thread I'm not crapping on anyone. It's pretty clear the mgomoron brigade got triggered over a simple post stating his ranking. If anyone needs to be banned it's the people who are name calling and making this personal. Should be no place for that in this community.

Placing a marker here because anyone who doesn't have monolithic positive thoughts about everything causes people like rob to whine and cry. I don't need to defend myself because anything I have ever posted that could be construed as negative, which gasp, is allowed by the way because UM isn't perfect, has been nothing but factual. I don't name call, I don't make things personal, and any umbrage I may have is always directed at the million dollar coaches. So please stop conflating stating facts and statistics that people don't like with anything else. Shit is getting real old.

Hey douche bag, there's nothing wrong with listing unflattering stats and having negative opinions about the football program. You're not gonna find you have many friends if you do it incessantly but that's your prerogative. What you're not seeming to grasp, which is obvious to everyone else, is that there's a time and place for it and the kids "Hello" post is not it.

Fuck off.

Michigan recently gets 1-2 early lower-ranked, under the radar, OL commits while still recruiting the top ones. Its better than scrambling to fill out the class at the end if you whiff on the top recruits. He's from Biff Poggi's school, coaching father of player Henry. His teammate is currently the top recruit in our class.

We are always looking for OTs! Its been our recent recruiting Achilles heel.

I trust Ed Warriner and Biff Poggi!

That’s a good take. Recruit some can’t miss candidates, knowing that some will go elsewhere, some you’ll sign and won’t work out for various reasons, and some will crush it in the field. Fill the rest of the OL spots with guys you identify as players you want on your team, rivals/247/ESPN rankings be damned. Sounds like a recipe for a foundation of excellent olines, with little to no drop off from season to season. Kind of what Wisconsin does

Lastly, not every guy is going pro, and at a institution like Michigan, there’s nothing wrong with graduating educated young men to be leaders in their chosen field
