Has there Been Any Official B10 Congratulations?

Submitted by MGoBlue95 on January 10th, 2024 at 2:49 PM

Have I missed anything, or has there been no congratulatory statements or even acknowledgment from Tony Petitti or the Big Ten on UM's National Championship? I am shocked--although not surprised--that what should be a crowning achievement for the conference by one of its core members is being completely ignored. If there has been some statement, please forgive me, but I have not seen anything substantive to date (other than a news item on the B10 home page)

Tony Pettiti still needs to be tarred and feathered and drug out of town.

Harbaugh's comments about paying players at the next day press conference were great.  Basically said that the NCAA, B1G and other conferences didn't want to pay the players 5-10% because they didn't want to give up part of their share.  He called for unionizing the players.  Said they were all robbing the same bank and the players who put their bodies on the line deserved their share.

You gotta think that is why the NCAA and B1G are giving him a brush back pitch.

In the last month OSU has done the following and no one cares:

1.  Open bidding war with Miami for Jeremiah Smith. It is against the rules to promise players money to sign. A bidding wars OSU lostBrian Hartline visiting Jeremiah Smith two days in a row is also a violation.

2. There were reports on r/CFP and elsewhere of OSU reaching out to Cam Ward (Nov 29th) before he entered the portal (Dec 1st)l which is tampering. Washington State coach Dickert even complained about it. My unsubstantiated theory is that McCord left because Day told him he was looking in the portal, not because he was afraid of Brown, Keinholz or true freshman Air Norland.  I don't think you push out McCord for Will Howard.

3.  When Michigan provided an eye witness and documentation from Purdue that OSU and Rutgers gave Purdue Michigan's nothing happened at all.  I suspect that when OSU warned TCU that Michigan was really good at stealing signs they also gave TCU our signs.  There is no evidence of that, but it is known that there was a conversation.

I still want blood.

Keep in mind, the NCAA operates at a glacial pace.  We just got the notice of allegations about Burgergate a few weeks ago, and haven't gotten one for the Stalions stuff.   It could be that the NCAA will do nothing to OSU about the issues you mentioned, but even if they were/are planning to investigate, they wouldn't have acted within weeks of the violations occurring.  That's just not their M.O.

It wasn't the Big Ten's M.O. to hastily issue sanctions, either - until Petitti came to town.

I haven't even had some of my best friends say anything about the game either to me or on our fantasy football chat.  Salty bastards.  But for real, it's a little odd.  Truly Michigan vs Everybody.

I haven't seen any (though I haven't been looking for it so maybe they have), but if they haven't and they want to be that petty about it, that's their problem. You want to carry that much petty bitterness around? That's your cross to bear.

For any schools in the conference still fuming until they're blood red in the face about the "disgrace" and "travesty" and "insult to the game" that its been to have Michigan be able to continue its season and go to the postseason, do me a favor:

When you get that big, fat CFP revenue check in the mail....you know, the free money you're getting off the back of Michigan's labors, I expect you'll do the right thing and either send it to the shredder or return it to the Big Ten office. Because....you know.....that money is the equivalent of blood money, isn't it?

Go ahead and do it. I'll wait. But I ain't holding my breath.

Fuck this worthless conference. They will ride our coattails and talk about how great this is for the conference as they split the money we made for him to give to Purdue so they can be slightly less worthless.

It's crazy to have your own conference try to bring you down and then you win a national title and bring respectability back to that same conference and they want to act like nothing happened.
