Pot, I’d like you to meet a Kettle ... I think you two have a lot in common!

What doesn’t work out well?  Having two elite QB’s bringing their skills to a RPO offense?

You bitch about everything ... even things that are nebulous speculations without precedent.

Seeing as how both McCaffrey and Patterson (and Milton it seems) are essentially from the same mold as being pocket passers who have scramble/short run capability, it theoretically shouldn't make a difference from a pure playbook point of view.

Maybe you’re too busy authoring all those books to actually pay attention to football because your statement is patently false.  Shea has elite zone- read ball skills, made some huge runs last seasons, and is poised to have a big season with his legs due to the new RPO scheme.  DMac, from what we saw, may be an elite runner, and none of the QB’s are “Pocket Passers.”

Other than that, you’re right on point.

I’d definitely not second guess Harbaugh or Gattis as both have a lot of experience and knowledge but the idea of two QB’s/split time makes me uneasy. Go with Patterson and put McCaffrey in the last quarter or so of each game. If we don’t progress to the point where everyone else seems to think we are headed than start McCaffrey a few games & see what happens.

We’re a little thin in the backfield so we need all we can get in mobility at QB. On the other hand we are pretty receiver rich so we need somebody who can throw somewhat accurately.

Harbaugh has used a second QB who's skill  set fit  plays in the past. He wouldn't bring this up if he was trying to make other teams use practice time to prepare in

I see Shea as the proven senior who makes good decisions on the fly. DMac will see playing time but will not see a start as long as Shea is healthy IMO.

Another great point on QB preparedness is that practice time saw many more plays because of no huddle.  2nd and 3rd team saw more reps in spring camp.  This grants more development with all players, QBs in particular.

STFU!

We’ve got two Uber-talented QB’s, one of whome is in his final year, and both can contribute to the success of the offense.  Why would a coach choose NOT to use them?  To appease dipshit fans like you? Put talent in the field, simple.  If they both are QB’s then so be it.

Does anyone's backup QB get more love from their fans than ours? I feel like Shea could win the Heisman and we'd still be hearing "McCaffrey should have started!" if we do anything short of winning the national championship.

I'm glad we've got good depth now so the world doesn't automatically end if the starter gets hurt, but this battle should be Shea's to lose.

Sounds like quite a different approach, but if the defense gets thrown off when another QB comes in, then I see no problem with it. Wouldn't want to give McCaffrey a reason to transfer away and letting him play more this season would be a good incentive for him to stay.
