Harbaugh said he’s handing the keys over to Gattis

Hopefully though, the lesson learned after all this is done is that controlling TOP doesn’t actually mean anything. I think Clemson demonstrated once and for all that you can win and win big even though you lose the TOP battle.

If we show some tempo when the situation calls for it or an actual two minute drill I'll start to believe.

The “he’s never called plays before” excuse is so weak. Pep and Borges called plays their whole damn lives and look at how shitty they were at it. It’s not like Gattis has never been around football before. He paid attention how Moorehead and Locksley called games. Plus he has a great leader and experienced QB in Shea, and all of spring ball and fall camp to get totally comfortable in this role.

I think this is a great point. Just because someone has years of experience in doing something doesn’t mean they’re any good at it...we should know better than most. And if we should learn anything about college football coaches it’s that young, new blood has a steady track record of success at all sorts of programs. Let the young guys loose and let’s see what they can do!

Finally!
Praise all that is holy!

You just wonder with Harbaugh coming back home whether he just caught up in the I’m going to do it just like Bo did. Glad he’s able to change his approach.

He's always changed. Jim McElwain and Ed Warinner are clear evidence of that.

We'll see. Makes me wonder if Warinner is still here in the fall. He had a significant role in the offense last year (perhaps too big, depends on who was really the one pushing for the heavy running orientation, since it was far more of an effort than in past Harbaugh years here). Now he may be taking a step back, depending upon whether or not Gattis continues to utilize Warinner's expertise in selecting run concepts.
Also, even if he designs and calls the plays, I have a hard time believing Harbaugh will be able to sit back all season if Michigan throws a lot early and winds up struggling with TOs or quick 3-and-outs that tire out the defense. But he's got to buy in if this is the plan.
We'll see.

This is less complicated than it seems, if they start prioritizing scoring points everything else will work itself out. If they continue to prioritize killing the clock regardless of game situation they will continue to struggle late in the season.

For Harbaughs sake he better hand over playcalling and playbook design to Gattis.
Harbaugh has 2 seasons left to win a Big Ten title or else he will be gone. Hypothetically if he fails to beat OSU next year and doesn't win the BIG and its because he runs out the same old offense then he will officially be on the hotseat
If he wastes the absolutely ELITE WR talent we have this year by being a run first offense then even I will become a Harbaugh hater

I like it.. Go Blue

Does anybody know how Ed Warinner feels about this? I'd hate to annoy him.

Believe it when I SEE it.
Hey, didn't we give up 62 to osu. Let gattis play safety.

Wow. Much respect for Harbaugh for humbling himself. Not everyone can do it, especially someone of his prestige and previous success.

Right away next season I will looking to see if the offense is still settling for too many FGs. My litmus test, for starters.

Thank god

Does anyone think there’s any correlation between JH handing over the keys after watching his brother succeed for the Ravens with Lamar Jackson?
