Honestly, this is probably my favorite Harbaugh quote/tweet/response to date. He knows not to give them any bulletin board material (since they have shown they feed off it so well) so he's staying calm and collected even though you know he's raging on the inside.

Harbaugh is obviously known for saying some pretty bizarre/off-the-wall stuff. I'm really glad in this instance he gave the most political response possible.

See to me it comes off more as exasperation with the more homer fans, which, if you look at it from his perspective is completely understandable.

I think the podcast is realistic and objective and a good counterbalance to a lot of the homerism that is present in a lot of the other Michigan podcasts.

As far as him bringing things down, their latest podcast had him basically prediciting an 11-1 season.  I really don't see why he rubs people the wrong way so badly.  He's like a English soccer announcer, happy to highlight good play and just as happy to call out bad play, without getting too up or too down about it.  I like that perspective and find it valuable.

I don't listen to the podcast, but I read MLive daily and don't see anything that suggests he hates Michigan. As for the fans, if you look at the comments that accompany MLive's articles you will get an inkling why he might have disdain or frustration with certain fans. The comments aren't RCMB, but then, what is?

To be fair, the submarine is got to be hell for a reporter. This time of year, your editor is probably beating the shit out of you from one end to get something noteworthy, and you total radio silence to work with on the other.

I actually like the MLive Podcast in season. It's another perspective from MGoBlogs and sometimes they make good points Brian and Co miss.

While that's true, isn't it pretty widely acknowledged that Harbaugh has given the press way, way more access to e.g. open practices etc. during other times of year? On a total exposure basis I think he's generally been more open than our past few coaches save Rich Rod.

Happy to.  Michigan has had its ass beat consistently by MSU for years, excepting the last game and 2012, which was a stalemate of ineptitude and basically the "shruggie" emoticon turned to life.  I'm not dishonest with Michigan's place vis a vis MSU in the college football stratosphere over the last decade.

But coopting a piece of our program's most cherished traditions and turning it into a hackneyed slogan isn't what a superior opponent does.  Declaring supremacy over Michigan is unnecessary because it's obvious.  Plus, MSU was in the frickin' playoffs last year.  So why are they talking about Michigan at all?

It's because MSU is a pest.  Pest-dom is part of its nature.

Calling a program that has beaten us 7 of 8 a "pest" is just insane arrogance. Thankfully, it is not an arrogance that is shared by Michigan's current coaching staff. As things stand, MSU is one of the two big mountains in the way. Harbaugh knows it and so do the players. Deal with it, however much of an affront that is to the reality you wish to accept.

I listened to this interview this morning on my commute. He wanted no part if this interview. This was "Colin Cowherd" Harbaugh. Jeff Riger was doing his best to fish for anything of interest and Harbaugh didn't give a sh**. Total blowoff answer - "It's true. Next question. Let's get this over with."
