Harbaugh met with Wheatley at Red Robin tonight

Submitted by MGoVictory on

At 9:55 PM a user posted to the Rivals forums that his boss ran into Harbaugh and Wheatley at Red Robin. His boss was allegedly told, by Harbaugh, that they were finalizing Wheatley's contract. Posters scoffed at the idea of Harbaugh and Wheatley meeting at Red Robin and sharing details regarding the contract with a stranger.

At 11:36 PM a user posted to the Scout forums that his friend took a picture with Harbaugh and Wheatley at Red Robin. Behold:

Maybe the rumors of Wheatley to Michigan being a "done deal" are true.

Even if not, awesome picture.

Everything you thought you knew about "rich people" was wrong. Dude's got more money than Davy Crockett, wears $8 pants and woos assistants with Red Robin steakfries.

He could wipe his ass with the money I make in a year, and I don't even think my cheapest "lounge around/sit on my ass at home" pants were less than $20...

While I am up for being invited to any Davin Brandon sucks at everything and Jim Harbaugh walks on water party it has little to do with the forces of good v evil IMO.

There are people out there who make $45K, lease a Benz and spend like they make $80K - every dime they make xtra in salary the next year will go to maintain appearances.

Other people are quiet millionaires and you will see them in a dive diner eating food and never know they had more than $10 in their pocket.  That's just how some people are wired.

For a guy like Harbaugh I imagine as long as he has his family, his football he'd be content living in a place with 4 sturdy walls and a roof and everything else is just details.  Of course his agents, lawyers, wife et al have a broader outlook but Jim seems very narrow focused and the extras don't mean much to him.

I don't know what this says about "rich people" generally--probably nothing. But you get the impression Harbaugh would still be coaching and going about it the exact same way if his salary was $50K instead of $5M. I can respect the hell out of that.

who's job I'm pretty confident (among LOTS of other things) is to take a lot of crumpled up receipts from JH's university credit card and make up a reasonable expense report.  Can you imagine chasing him down for an explanation of the $19.50 from Red Robin, and the blank look on his face?

We're in this nice, swanky, quiet restaurant overlooking a river, and in walks Terrell Owens. I'm conflicted, wondering if it's at all appropriate to say anything, and finally I say "I think Terrell Owens just walked in."

T.O. pointed at me, smiled, gave a little nod, then was escorted upstairs. I don't think anyone in the interview party knew who he was.

I didn't get the job...

I don't know why, but this seems absolutely fitting. Even with as successful a football coach he is at the highest levels, this guy we now have coaching our football program is, well, just a guy. In a very good sense.

Harbaugh "Ty, How about Mitchell's fish market in Livonia", Wheatley,"No, that's too conspicuous, how about Red Robin, no one will ever recognize us there."

I have a hunch that Harbaugh is loving the celebrity status here right now

on the other hand, I don't know if he's going to love being hounded for pictures every time he wants to go out to eat

I can imagine there's numerous photos of hoke in restaurants around Ann Arbor. I envision him with a messy bib and some corny frame that says something like "conquered the 3lb burger!"

There's always someone going for the low hanging fruit. iirc, mgouser Hugh Jass has an avatar of Charlie Weis in his ND coaching days. Back in the day, I remember an awful lot of posts jabbing at ND and coach Weis.

I guess everything is fair game for bloggers. Having said that, my guess is that JH eats pretty healthy.
