Retiring early is definitely possible if that is your goal.  For some people it is.  For some people, raising a family, buying a house is more of a goal.  You can do both if you're really disciplined and a little lucky.

But, the idea that everyone has to work until they are 65 is bogus.  If you make it a goal from the start of your working life to put away 15% and maybe increase that amount by a percent each year (through salary increases, hustling side jobs, whatever), you'd be shocked that how fast most people could retire.

(And for people that say putting away 15% at the start of a career is ridiculous... my comcast bill was 4% of my take-home pay.  There are little things in everyone's life that can always be re-evaluated... AGAIN, if that's your goal. My goal is to retire early, but closer to 55, not 40. So bring on Comcast and the sports package!)

Having my bachelor party tomorrow. Starting the day off tailgating, then going to the game. Haven't been to a game since 2011. Then chillin in AA and going to bars. Going to be a great day.

For my daughters 5th birthday, I'm taking her to her first Michigan game. This will be my first game at the big house since the NW Gardner to Roundtree game. My sparty wife is pissed my daughter went to dads side for rooting interest. My job is done with her, now to get my son on board, but he is a couple of years away from that.

But I get off at 1 pm today so I can go help a good friend who just moved back to town set up his "welcome back" kegger.  Then I get to drink and smoke the finest green until Sunday night.

Tomorrow's plan is an early showing of "Dr. Strange" at a theater near my house and then coming home in plenty of time for the game at 3:30 - my cousin bought my Maryland tickets and I will be at the Indiana game. I'll probably sit in the back and peek at the noon games while I occasionally "run to the bathroom", but that's what happens when your wife makes plans on Saturday during football season sometimes. Fair trade.
