Friday Night Drinking Thread: Beat the Irish (Tailgate)
Going to try not to drink too much tonight, however, that is a battle I generally lose. Taking Coop and Colby to ND tomorrow. Hit up @themgobus on twitter if you will be in the area, I am sure we will end up tailgating.
Starting out with a Julius IPA from Tree House Brewing in Massachusets. If you haven't had their beer before, it is excellent.

57 days to go....
January 4th, 2019 at 7:09 PM ^
I saw your post earlier. Keep on trucking. I’m on day 120 of no alcohol and I feel great. I may never drink again, seriously. Good luck.
January 4th, 2019 at 8:50 PM ^
Wow, I'm on day 3 of no alcohol and I plan on getting fucking hammered tonight.
January 4th, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
I came to this thread specifically to see what bourbon you might be drinking. Enjoy the next 57 days, I had enough for both of us last night.

I’m on Minute 0.5 of no drinking. I’m at the bar of one of my favorite restaurants, waiting for my wife, wishing there was college football on the TV instead of some meaningless (to me) NBA game and enjoying a Blanton’s on the rocks (at least I did when I took my last sip, now 50 seconds ago).
January 4th, 2019 at 9:43 PM ^
I really enjoy Blantons. Nice choice.
January 4th, 2019 at 8:19 PM ^
la croix, only taking January off. Im starting to get the itch...
January 4th, 2019 at 8:20 PM ^
You'll do it. I don't know anything about you other than what I can glean from your posts, but I'm confident you'll do it.
January 5th, 2019 at 12:21 AM ^
Thank you. Means a lot!

Breyer’s strawberry ice cream, Silk protein nut milk, vanilla Greek yogurt, one banana nicely blended together.

Sleep apnea.
January 4th, 2019 at 8:18 PM ^
Is that it?
January 4th, 2019 at 6:50 PM ^
I have this bottle of Macallan 18 that's been sitting here. Probably going to crush most of it on the couch by myself tonight (no, I am not depressed). Wife is out of town with our 4 year old, 2 year old, and 8 month old (yes, I have 3 kids under 5). So this is some much needed quiet/drinking time.
January 4th, 2019 at 7:11 PM ^
Enjoy my fellow Mgoblogger. Macallan 12 for me, chilled with an ice ball. Do you drink it neat or chilled?
January 4th, 2019 at 7:28 PM ^
neat
January 4th, 2019 at 7:42 PM ^
Have you drank Balvenie 12? Also Balvenie 14 which is aged in rum barrels for 2 years. 2 favorites of mine.
January 4th, 2019 at 8:21 PM ^
really like balvenie. A buddy got me a 21...went down too quickly
January 4th, 2019 at 8:35 PM ^
Awesome, will have to put that on my wish list. Thanks.
January 4th, 2019 at 9:25 PM ^
My parents loved Balvenie, after touring the distillery in Scotland. I used to drink Scotch and that was my favorite, especially when I was with my parents, But in those days, I had a client who drank Macallan 12, so when I was with him, that’s what I drank.
They were both outstanding.
January 4th, 2019 at 7:30 PM ^
I like the regular 12, but I had the "double cask" version last week and it was one of the worst tasting whiskys I have ever had. There is a chance that it was a bad bottle because I tasted nothing, but sourness.
January 4th, 2019 at 7:23 PM ^
So your 4 year old, 2 year old, and 8 month old are all being wrangled by your wife right now?
I'd say she's the one who needs quiet time. Suck it up, pal.
January 4th, 2019 at 7:31 PM ^
she's with her mother and 18 year old half sister- will be an outstanding form of birth control for her sister, that's for sure.
January 4th, 2019 at 10:36 PM ^
See The Macallan was a lot cheaper 20 years ago - now you have to sell the Picaso to get 25 and 18 is getting too expensive - I have been savoring my bottle of 18 for about 12 months now.
But it is my favorite single malt.
January 5th, 2019 at 12:31 AM ^
Sounds like your wife may be in greater need of that Macallen if she was caring for 3 kids 4 and under all day...

I like green and brrright

Dr. Pepper. Will be considering adding whiskey to it at some point.
January 4th, 2019 at 7:18 PM ^
Too early to start for me, but I do see some Founders Dirty Bastard happening later this evening or maybe the last of the 3 Floyds Alpha Klaus.
January 4th, 2019 at 7:19 PM ^
I’ll be drinking some home brewed Red Cream Ale with the neighbors as we sit by the fire....in January.... in Northern Indiana. It’s 40 freaking degrees! Love it! Cheers my fellow Mgobloggers!
January 4th, 2019 at 7:21 PM ^
Water. Waiting for 2 oldest sons' h.s. basketball game to start. Fair chance of a glass of red pop upon returning home....
January 4th, 2019 at 9:27 PM ^
Man, that’s living!
January 4th, 2019 at 11:45 PM ^
Upon returning home it was discovered that oldest daughter had made oatmeal maple chocolate chip muffins. They are still warm and must be consumed with butter. I believe I have just eaten enough calories to feed a mid-sized village. For a month.

God bless you, XM!
Sometimes your posts read like scripts from lost episodes of The Waltons:)
January 5th, 2019 at 7:19 AM ^

Believe me, I'm sponsoring many young people currently studying in America's colleges and universities.

Not drinking at all this weekend. Wife is now admitted through the weekend for observation. The UM class of 2037 may have two new commitments this week.

Yes Mrs Dr Brutus is much more resilient than I am. I couldn't survive a day of pregnancy.

Going with a Dark Horse Double Down red blend. It's rather nice and warming for a rather chilly evening.

Bells Amber and Bells Winter White. Work week was only 3 days but still sucked.
