We already know what he’s doing. An extension is on the table. Harbaugh either can sign it, or he can walk to the NFL. It’s up to him how he decides to handle that. He can sign with Michigan and end it, or he can wait and see what he gets in terms of NFL offers and pick his route. There is nothing Warde can say that changes any of that. It’s literally a waiting game at this point. That much is clear.

What we DON’T need is conflicting media reports of Harbaugh about to sign and Harbaugh waiting to see what the NFL offers.

But we do know an extension has been put on the table. EVERY source has confirmed as much, while details may be being negotiated. The extension offer exists. We don’t need a statement from Warde explaining every minute detail of what is going on. It isn’t our business. It doesn’t happen at any school or team at any level of sports. Fans aren’t privy to contract negotiation details.

But again, we also don’t need conflicting reports from the media citing soft sources without confirmation either. Which is ultimately all we’ve been getting

Ward could have actually fired him over a month ago or put a due date on signing the extension and not give Jim Harbaugh all the power to determine Michigan's fate and possibly miss out on coaching candidates. He's putting Harbaugh's career before the program.

But he’s not, and the top candidates are all still available and I’m sure Warde has put feelers out to gauge interest in the job to those candidates should it come open.

Everyone wants to act like we’re in some late stage of the coaching carousel. Most of the time coaches coach in a bowl game and are then let go. Bowl season is still going. This isn’t the MSU-Mel Tucker timeline we’re looking at. It’s January 2nd. Calm down.

This report i believe.  I think he's waiting till Monday to see what else might be available before he signs any extension.

If the rumors are true that he's been offered a paycut my guess is that's a pretty bitter pill to swallow for a guy like Harbaugh-even with his less than stellar results to date.

As the Freep's higher education reporter, this guy's source is likely someone like a regent. I would put more faith in Feldman and Angelique, who likely have sources that are closer to the situation.

Well, 2-4 -- which would have ended up as 3-6 or 2-7 depending on the Iowa game -- seems pretty similar to 3-9, 5-7, et cetera.

Our AD publicly rooting for our main rival to go to the CFP with all the positivity that brings them is pretty similar to apologizing to MSU.

No concussion-gate, but we did leave Cade out there when he had no business out there.

So yeah, this is a dumpster fire too. Our AD should not be contemplating extending it.

This amazes me. I could not imagine going to an employer and saying, “Hey...I know you offered me that extension...and I realize things haven’t been great recently...and I realize I’ve put the company in a pretty bad position during a major strategic period for our growth and trajectory...and i know you’ve been really good to me, treated me well, and compensated me better than ever...BUT I am kinda interested in going back to my old industry. It pays pretty good too, and I get to live in some cool cities! But - hey - if I don’t get a better offer from them, I’ll totally re-sign with you guys! Just let me check with them first and I’ll get back to you! Mmmmkay...thanks!”

There is no way that Jim Harbaugh willingly leaves Michigan at this point in his tenure. There is also no way that Jim Harbaugh handles a contract discussion with his alma mater in this fashion. Anybody that truly knows Jim Harbaugh knows this.

Say what you will about his coaching and performance since he has been at Michigan, but the man’s integrity, honor, and love for his school cannot be questioned.

Just because you are in a hurry does not mean Harbaugh or Manuel are in the same hurry.  There are $8 million reasons why Manuel is willing to wait, and JH may well have reasons related to assistants and other items we are not aware of yet.  Patience is called for here, we should know far more tomorrow.

“Harbaugh hasn't signed it yet because he's waiting to see if any NFL teams have interest in him as a head coach.”

If he stays and this is verified, how do you support a coach who puts Michigan as his back-up and an AD who knowingly tolerated it? Being loyal to a coach who had one foot out the door over the program itself? Surely, this can’t be true.
