Football Outsiders Futures on Devin Bush

Lots of fun gifs. They basically see him as Lavonte-David-light, with the potential for top-tier weakside linebacker if he can do better at taking on blocks.
+1 for you. Thanks for the link. OP class needs to be started to help with linky linky.
Devin was the best player on a defense filled with really good players. Michigan will be "back" when we can consistently have as much talent on both sides of the ball as we did on defense last year.
Then don't hold your breath. We'll always have Rutger to beat up on.
I think there was equal talent on the offensive side, but it just wasn't utilized
I think the problem with offensive talent is that our three best players are (arguably) all WRs. The defense had a couple really good corners. A great LB. Two great ends. There wasn't that diversity of talent on the offense - the misuse just compounded it.
It seems like we're in this cycle where either the defense or the offense is "ready", but neither is at the same time. Next season we have an improved OL, experienced QB, good WRs. If a RB or two can step up, the offense should able to bomb people. Unfortunately it's paired with an extremely depleted defense.
I haven't seen anything at Michigan since richrod left to make me question Michigan's ability to have the next man step up on D.
I hope you’re right. However, nobody really stepped up in the interior DL all year. They weren’t terrible, but it was a bunch of “just a guys”. Whoever takes over for bush will be a downgrade, probably a big one. Rashan and Chase are leaving a big hole to fill.
If brown puts together a good defense next season, he will have really earned his money.
The defense may take a small step back due to graduation/NFL, but the offense should improve a fair amount. I think the offense will be strong enough that it will more than offset any decline in the defense.
Our defense was depleted after 2016, one returning starter mind you, and the 2017 unit acquitted itself pretty darn well. Was arguably just as good as 2016.
Not worried about the defense as long as DB is there.
Devin Bush is a freak of an athlete. Will be very much missed. I remember watching that 2017 Florida opener (when there were a ton of unknowns on defense with so many new starters) and Devin Bush flashed something we hadn't seen from a true LB at Michigan. So much for the Maizen star gazers, Bush was a high 3 star/low 4 star.
Devin Bush was a 4-star recruit on 247Sports Composite, Rivals, and ESPN.
I really don't think anybody had any issue with taking the #312/182/181 overall player in the Class of 2016. That is a much different situation than the #800-1000+ overall player.
Devin was rated as a genuinely good, but not amazing, recruit who everyone agreed would have been rated very highly if he was a couple inches taller. His game was very good out of high school.
I don't have enough points to start my own thread, but this is the biggest "SpartyNo" video of all time...... Definitely worthy of its own thread strictly for ridiculousnness.
It said it was private and needed a login. Kindly share your login so we can all enjoy and while you are at it, what about your ss# and mother's maiden name???
It's a 50ish year old woman in an MSU jacket binge drinking with her daughter, and she gets up and projectile vomits while running and then takes a giant spill because she slips on her own vomit. One of the funniest videos I've seen in a while, and that much better because she's wearing MSU gear.
Yeah, I'll pass on this one.
Thanks Bud.
And we know why you don't have enough points to start your own thread.
Thread jacking is not acceptable.
You have been here a week? What was your last account name?
Michigan middle linebackers will forever look slow because of Bush. He's broken our eyes.
You may be right, but I sure hope that he's the new prototype for our middle linebackers.
He is and they will be objectively fast linebackers. Just more likely running 4.6s instead of 4.4s.
I will never forget badass Devin facing down the entire MSU squad and then carving the "L" with his cleats. Any NFL team that gets him will be damn lucky.
He was the fastest , most efficient linebacker at Michigan since Harris
Honestly you can't say enough good things about Devin Bush at Michigan.
This last year he was the absolute linchpin on defense. Brown basically schemed for everyone to go one-on-one and for Devin Bush to basically "go out there and make a play". (this is technically the expectation of all the defenders, but it hinged on Bush big-time outplaying/out-willing the other teams offensive coach, playbook, and players to the point of attack).
Devin Bush jumped off the scren even as a freshman, 5'11" @ 211lbs, and he left as a 235+ lb monster.
It's as clear as day that defense was nowhere near as effective when he was off the field.
Also Higdon was, by far, no question, the linchpin of the offense this year.
If you go back and re-watch the games, the amount of times he had to and successfully juked/broke multiple would-be TFL behind the line of scrimmage and turned it into positive yardage that moved the chains, kept scoring drives alive and let the defense rest, he literallt provided at least a few W's which could easily have moved into the loss column/been more nail-biters for Michigan fans. He also hit some homeruns (even though some very foolish people on here claimed he was "slow") Shea was great, the WRs were great, but if we didn't have Higdon, our run game would goes from solid to a huge question mark.
Underutilized, but also average rbs and ol.
I hope Devin is drafted by the Steelers. He is the perfect replacement for Ryan Shazier.
