Finebaum FLIPS to UM

Submitted by superstringer on January 2nd, 2024 at 9:43 AM

I'm sure someone will post a Youtube or X (formerly Twitter) video of it.

On Get Up, Paul Finebaum--twice, apparently, but I just saw it live, 9:36 am ET--ate crow and flipped. He admitted he was one who said our championship would have an asterisk, and that at the time he said it, he may have believed it. But then he said, having spent the last week with our team, he got to know our players. He called out JJ and Blake by name. He said they had nothing to do with the scandal. He said JMFH outcoached Saban--it was not just his observation field-level, but what other ESPN talking heads were saying "quietly but confidently." He said no asterisk to any championship.  He recognizes that there might now be a stain on us (which obviously he helped put there) but he has seen the light.

Power of the truth.

I did see Paul a little earlier when I was running inside at my local gym but I had no sound but the crawl at the bottom was asking the question if a Michigan championship would be tainted.

In all fairness, I am glad to know the Finebaum has changed his tune. ESPN is still asking if this will be Harbaugh's last game coaching at Michigan in Houston. We'll see what Thamel has to say but who really cares.

I guess SOME credit for humbling himself but.......he is a click-whore.  He says/does what he says/does for attention because that generates conversation and revenue.  So....whateva

Wonder how he's processing an All B1G title game.

I've concluded thusly:

ESPN is focused on the theater. Regardless of fact.

Fact doesn't match the theater? Now JJ and Blake are really good and we "out coached" Saban, which NEVER HAPPENS. That is the new narrative.

Saban, however, is employed at a University that is well versed in theater and will be just fine.

We are used to facts, gaps, pin and pulls, line performance, etc. We get confused when we hear theater that has no basis in fact. We think that pointing out the lack of factual basis will sway the director of the play. It won't. Why bother. turn off Disney's Mickey mouse sports network.

I'll repeat it again - he's a cynical asshole who'll say whatever he needs to get attention.  He doesn't deserve any credit for "flipping" to Michigan, and he'll bury JJ and Blake the minute they lose a game.  Fuck him and stop taking him seriously.

He is the apotheosis of the general ethos of sports talking heads, which is that attention is the first and only priority. The most successful sports radio personalities are not successful because of their insight into the sports they talk about. They're successful because they get people upset and yelling at the screen/radio, and because they have created/manufactured on-air personalities designed to do so. Listening to any of them, Finebaum, Stephen A., Bayless, Pat McAfey, whoever, is designed to exploit listeners emotions and keep them yelling.

Just stop watching. It's much better that way.

At this point why should anyone care what that idiot thinks?  It's all about him, so stop giving him attention.

As soon as he opens his mouth there's two posts about it here, come on.

this is predictable as the rain.... finbaum talks shit on Michigan, then when they win the Big 10 changes his tune, then they get beat in the CFP, shits on them again....

If Michigan were to lose in the Championship game, he'd go back to shitting on them...... BUT, he won't have that chance this time!

Onward!  GO BLUE

Downvoted for signal-boosting ESPN.

Let's remember they tried to torpedo this season, and now that they've failed you're going to actively help them profit off it??

Not what I’m seeing on ESPN with Stephen A. Smith, Finebaum, and Shannon Sharpe. They are finding every way possible to say that Bama blew it and Michigan didn’t bully them. But Texas did. Oh yeah, Georgia may be the #1 team but can’t prove it but are definitely one of the 2 or 3 best teams. It’s all talking Michigan down, if talking about Michigan at all. Disgraceful.

And if Michigan had lost by even one point, he would have excoriated Harbaugh and the kids and crowed about how this validated all his cheating concerns.

Fuck that guy.
