Finebaum FLIPS to UM
I'm sure someone will post a Youtube or X (formerly Twitter) video of it.
On Get Up, Paul Finebaum--twice, apparently, but I just saw it live, 9:36 am ET--ate crow and flipped. He admitted he was one who said our championship would have an asterisk, and that at the time he said it, he may have believed it. But then he said, having spent the last week with our team, he got to know our players. He called out JJ and Blake by name. He said they had nothing to do with the scandal. He said JMFH outcoached Saban--it was not just his observation field-level, but what other ESPN talking heads were saying "quietly but confidently." He said no asterisk to any championship. He recognizes that there might now be a stain on us (which obviously he helped put there) but he has seen the light.
Power of the truth.

He was on a 2nd time? I only saw the 1st portion with Lewan

I’m watching on the plane. OP is highly accurate.
January 2nd, 2024 at 11:03 AM ^
with no SEC team to slurp, he has to say something simply because he is on TV. Its almost like you have to remove to get what he really thinks. Or thats exactly what needs to happen.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:49 AM ^
Trying to save himself and his show, hope it goes down the tube!
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:49 AM ^
Ok, I hope he slips on two banana peels now.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:50 AM ^
I did see Paul a little earlier when I was running inside at my local gym but I had no sound but the crawl at the bottom was asking the question if a Michigan championship would be tainted.
In all fairness, I am glad to know the Finebaum has changed his tune. ESPN is still asking if this will be Harbaugh's last game coaching at Michigan in Houston. We'll see what Thamel has to say but who really cares.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:50 AM ^
No room on our train Pete. Continue your journey to hell.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:50 AM ^
Still.... F him.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:52 AM ^
I wish folks would stop giving him free promotion. Who gives a shit what he thinks.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:54 AM ^
I guess SOME credit for humbling himself but.......he is a click-whore. He says/does what he says/does for attention because that generates conversation and revenue. So....whateva
Wonder how he's processing an All B1G title game.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:56 AM ^
Who the fuck cares about Finebaum? This is worse than making a post about Michigan State right after a big win
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:09 AM ^
I've concluded thusly:
ESPN is focused on the theater. Regardless of fact.
Fact doesn't match the theater? Now JJ and Blake are really good and we "out coached" Saban, which NEVER HAPPENS. That is the new narrative.
Saban, however, is employed at a University that is well versed in theater and will be just fine.
We are used to facts, gaps, pin and pulls, line performance, etc. We get confused when we hear theater that has no basis in fact. We think that pointing out the lack of factual basis will sway the director of the play. It won't. Why bother. turn off Disney's Mickey mouse sports network.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:58 AM ^
I'll repeat it again - he's a cynical asshole who'll say whatever he needs to get attention. He doesn't deserve any credit for "flipping" to Michigan, and he'll bury JJ and Blake the minute they lose a game. Fuck him and stop taking him seriously.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:06 AM ^
Word.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:08 AM ^
He is the apotheosis of the general ethos of sports talking heads, which is that attention is the first and only priority. The most successful sports radio personalities are not successful because of their insight into the sports they talk about. They're successful because they get people upset and yelling at the screen/radio, and because they have created/manufactured on-air personalities designed to do so. Listening to any of them, Finebaum, Stephen A., Bayless, Pat McAfey, whoever, is designed to exploit listeners emotions and keep them yelling.
Just stop watching. It's much better that way.

Finebaum can still fuck off.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:13 AM ^
... all the way off.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:01 AM ^
At this point why should anyone care what that idiot thinks? It's all about him, so stop giving him attention.
As soon as he opens his mouth there's two posts about it here, come on.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:19 AM ^
Everyone on ESPN is an SEC shill, not just Finebaum.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:02 AM ^
this is predictable as the rain.... finbaum talks shit on Michigan, then when they win the Big 10 changes his tune, then they get beat in the CFP, shits on them again....
If Michigan were to lose in the Championship game, he'd go back to shitting on them...... BUT, he won't have that chance this time!
Onward! GO BLUE
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:08 AM ^
Whatever. He's an ass.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:10 AM ^
Can we just stop posting about this guy? We all know his schtick. I really don’t think anyone here cares about him.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:17 AM ^
Downvoted for signal-boosting ESPN.
Let's remember they tried to torpedo this season, and now that they've failed you're going to actively help them profit off it??
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:18 AM ^
Not what I’m seeing on ESPN with Stephen A. Smith, Finebaum, and Shannon Sharpe. They are finding every way possible to say that Bama blew it and Michigan didn’t bully them. But Texas did. Oh yeah, Georgia may be the #1 team but can’t prove it but are definitely one of the 2 or 3 best teams. It’s all talking Michigan down, if talking about Michigan at all. Disgraceful.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:55 AM ^
Yeah, Bama blew it by choosing not to block the pass rushers, and by choosing not to get open downfield. And not to tackle Corum in OT. Or to block Michigan on the last play. Yep, they just blew it.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:22 AM ^
The thing about Paul Finebaum is fuck Paul Finebaum.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:24 AM ^
And if Michigan had lost by even one point, he would have excoriated Harbaugh and the kids and crowed about how this validated all his cheating concerns.
Fuck that guy.

"He has seen the light." Fooey. He has seen the corporate arrow point up the need for a new direction.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:47 AM ^
Still a douche.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:51 AM ^
Finebaum was giving Michigan more credit for winning than Stephen A. Smith, who said that Alabama lost the game more than Michigan won it. That raised my eyebrows.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:54 AM ^
didn't care when he was agin' us, don't care if he's fer us.
