Finebaum changed his tune
Our favorite on air personality just admitted on get up that, after spending the week around Michigan players and watching the game last night that there is no asterisk.
he also said the word around the espn folks at the game was that Jim out coached Saban which never happens.
Go Blue

He can become Harbaugh's biggest fan, I still hope he trips on a banana peel.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:43 AM ^
I don't like this Finebaum. I like the one whose head I want to use sandpaper on.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:44 AM ^
We're not changing our tune. Fuck that penis head.
Go Blue, Beat Huskies!

A face for radio. But his opinions suck too. Not sure why he gets these jobs.
January 2nd, 2024 at 4:17 PM ^
BWAHAHAHA!!!! I saw both of those muppet heads on tv over the Christmas to New Year's break.
However, I couldn't tell which was the dummy!!!!!!
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:44 AM ^
Beat me to it.
I liked my title better.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:44 AM ^
I saw this too, and your description is accurate. Maybe he and Saban had a "lovers quarrel" last night and this is Pete's version of scorned lover revenge?
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:43 AM ^
Nah, he's just a spineless weasel who bends with the prevailing winds. He'll be back on Harbaugh's jock when he senses that that might get a few clicks/eyeballs, too. Jimmy kicked HIS ass last night, too.
January 2nd, 2024 at 11:21 AM ^
100% spot on correct and well stated! Glad I read yours instead of trying to write it myself.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:57 AM ^
People have to realize that Finebaum is playing a character. He is not authentic in any way. When it's a non-controversial topic, he can speak with intelligence on football. But he knows how to get views & clicks, and that is through being the "Pete Finebaum" it-just-means-more guy, so that's what he does.
For people who want college football to be pro wrestling, he is worthwhile -- to love or to hate. For me, I like people who mean what they say, so I don't spend much time thinking about him.
January 2nd, 2024 at 2:19 PM ^
Ditto. I think I've watched the guy talk for about 2 minutes in however many years he has been on TV. I don't care what he has to say. I don't know why anyone else does.
He must have good TV ratings though and that's his real job, manipulating the easily manipulated into watching.

A dim bulb brightens ...
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:49 AM ^
Yeah cuz the beat the SEC team, and everyone knows SEC = football. Dont give a fuck about Pete or his tune. Same team we were all season when you were bagging on us. Welcome to the dark side Finebaum
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:50 AM ^
He's spineless, this isn't new. When Sam came with receipts he had no response. Don't waste your time and energy on this clown
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:50 AM ^
Feel like we are all spending a little too much mental energy on Finebaum.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:59 AM ^
This has the feel of all those YouTube parody videos of Hitler ranting about Fegelein.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:02 AM ^
Thank you! his whole schtick is to be a troll to get clicks and we're giving them to him
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:04 AM ^
Well, if we could get a nice 4 hour MGoPodcast we could listen to that instead.
Hint, hint :D
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:50 AM ^
Is Finebaum's agent posting on here? A Birmingham, Alabama broadcaster has an entire fanbase in the Upper Midwest desperate to hear his latest musings. Pretty crazy that people still aren't wise to the sports troll playbook even after all those years of Bayless, Smith, Cowherd etc.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:51 AM ^
Anyone see the smile on Finebaum’s face when they talked about how many Google hits his name got after last night’s game? That’s what this is all about.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:51 AM ^
Didn't care about his opinion before, and don't afterwards.
Win the next game to shut up the remaining haters
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:52 AM ^
Trying to save himself and his show, hope it goes down the tube!
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:56 AM ^
There is a large talent gap if you believe star rankings. Link In raw numbers, the gap between #1 Bama and #14 Michigan in terms of recruiting talent is the same as the gap between #14 Michigan and #42 Maryland.
On my drive this morning some Sirrius Sports radio show MadDog Sports (don't listen to it normally) said Michigan won because they have an SEC mindset and Michigan out SECed the SEC champ.
He defined SEC as being physically tough.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:58 AM ^
I'll repeat it again - he's a cynical asshole who'll say whatever he needs to get attention. He doesn't deserve any credit for "flipping" to Michigan, and he'll bury JJ and Blake the minute they lose a game. Fuck him and stop taking him seriously.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:22 AM ^
He's good at his job. The thing is, his job is completely worthless and doesn't deserve oxygen.
We'd all be better off if he didn't have a place in college football and was universally ignored. The sport would be better. Hell, the world would be better.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:29 AM ^
Yeah, he's quite good at getting attention for his employer, and ESPN cares about nothing more than people paying to watch sports on their channels. But he's objectively not adding anything to the sport that a dog in a funny hat chasing after tennis balls with different teams' names on them wouldn't.
January 2nd, 2024 at 9:59 AM ^
Finebaum can fuck all the way off.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:00 AM ^
By dad calls him Pete Fishbaum and I have never once thought to correct him
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:01 AM ^
And then he promptly stated that Harbaugh's last game is Monday. There's no room on the Michigan train for that clown, he can go pound sand.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:01 AM ^
and any 'master of the obvious' knows that saban was outcoached. it can't be said enough: saban has more 5*'s than the entire B10. him losing to anybody but an NFL team is a failure of his coaching - he's competing in the soap box derby with a motorized car.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:08 AM ^
There are very few "excusable" losses for Bama after Saban's first few seasons. How many times did the opposing team have anywhere near the depth of top tier talent? Not many.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:11 AM ^
He's a tool and a hack looking for clicks. Just win.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:12 AM ^
Gotta give a lot of credit to the coaching staff for making second half adjustments DURING the second half. I was feeling quite scared being down 7 points late in the game...but everyone hung tough.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:15 AM ^
Don’t like it.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:16 AM ^
he can go straight to hell with all his bama buddies. hard pass on any more flipping and flopping. just 3 weeks ago he kept saying how wrong he was to believe in harbaugh and he would never again.
Harbaugh should send him a horses head.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:18 AM ^
Downvoted for signal-boosting ESPN.
Let's remember they tried to torpedo this season, and now that they've failed you're going to actively help them profit off it??

I need an mblog podcast.

We going to the Natty. Job ain't done yet.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:46 AM ^
Still a douche.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:46 AM ^
I've said before that I am not critical of people changing their minds, especially with new information.
However, this is not that situation.
His stances on sign-gate this year:
1) This is piling on Harbaugh.
2) Based on literally no new information (beyond details of what was already known), this was a disgusting scandal and he would never give Harbaugh the benefit of the doubt again and doing so was the biggest mistake of his career.
3) After spending time with the players--and only after Michigan won--he decides Michigan is fine, as though spending time with the players should have any impact on whether or not you believe Michigan's wins are tainted. Stalions happened, what does having a polite conversation in person with JJ and Blake matter? If he thought that made a difference then he should have gone out of his way to talk to them earlier before stating an opinion.
He's so transparently disingenuous it's pathetic.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:47 AM ^
I think just maybe Finebaum deserves a little credit. Lots of people in the public eye would rather double down and rationalize their previous opinions.
He mentions meeting the players as a factor. That has a ring of truth. Let's face it, they're terrific young men. It's hard to be a hater when you hear what they have to say.
Just my two cents. Maybe I'm in the mood for forgiveness this morning.
January 2nd, 2024 at 10:49 AM ^
Meeting the players didn't make him change his mind. It made him more embarrassed to lie about what he believed. It's the same way you would say nasty shit on a message board but not to someone's face.
January 2nd, 2024 at 11:24 AM ^
Who the fuck cares?
January 2nd, 2024 at 11:54 AM ^
Finebaum is kind of like Mike Valenti. I cut myself off from anything Valenti circa 2012 and I never regretted it.
I started ignoring Finebaum around 5 years ago when he said on his show that Michigan has the most pathetic fan base in all of college sports. Just another guy who desperately wants to get a reaction out of people and not talk about the actual facts.
With that said, I was just working out at Planet Fitness and happened to glance at one of the TV’s. Finebaum’s show was on and one of the topics was ‘Did Michigan win or did Alabama lose?’ The next time I stupidly glanced at the tv, the topic was ‘If Michigan beats Washington, will it be a tainted title?’ Nope. I clearly haven’t missed anything.
January 2nd, 2024 at 12:08 PM ^
Valenti's show today will be taking calls from "Michigan fans" that couldn't enjoy the victory because of the cheating scandal. Hint: they aren't Michigan fans.
