I have to say, one of the weirder Gamedays I can remember. There was just nothing much that felt Michigan about it--didn't feel like a great crowd on the broadcast, Spurrier doing the guest picks, no Harbaugh (his choice, more than likely), not much about the school other than the Glasgow piece...

Just weird.

Agreed

From all this technology and connectedness, we certainly live in the age of the spectacle, and hyperspeed information. Hence: why the signs are the most important part, instead of just the icing on the cake, i.e. it shouldn't be the BASIS of gameday. Or, if it is the basis, then it's a testament to poor quality that it's being outshone, by rabble (actually Shakespeare used to set this up within his plays, so the groundlings (the people who sat at the front) could heckle the actors if they were subpar). There's just no time to slow down, and investigate, in modern media.

I did like the piece on Glasgow, but you're right, even the location was very strange, it felt like such a crammed space.

They certainly didn't spend the week exploring or unearthing (their jobs btw) much of Ann Arbor itself and relating it to UM Football/history. Just clips. It's like when you watch one of those clearly "mailed-in" episodes of some "Late Night TV show" or SNL.

I mean, I love the energy and attention to Ann Arbor. But you're right, it certainly felt unsatisfying.

Is this game really not going to be on a local channel in MICHIGAN??

I have to pay cable to see two schools that take my tax money and suck up my police and emergency resources (at least this year - here in A2)? I'm pretty disgusted with this turn of events.

I thought this would be on 'ESPN on ABC' but apparently it's only on ESPN's actual channel.
