Erick All officially out for season, per Harbaugh
The title really says it all.
LINK: Injury update: Michigan TE Erick All officially out for the season. (Michigan Insider.)
It was posted that he had surgery last week in Florida, but this is the first formal announcement I've seen that All is out. The article does not comment on All's plans for the 2023 season.
While I miss having All, we've been so fortunate to have Luke Schoonmaker and the depth behind him.

So bummed. Loved watching him last year. I hope he comes back and plays for Mich next year, otherwise good luck to the young man!
October 24th, 2022 at 2:28 PM ^
Pretty much nothing more important than your health, including taking care of yourself when you're young.
Best wishes to Erick, hope he physically recovers 100% soon
October 24th, 2022 at 2:01 PM ^
Best wishes to Erick.
Off-topic: I'd really like to know what's up with NHG.

What part of “soft tissue injury” don’t you understand? It’s your garden variety injury.
October 24th, 2022 at 2:49 PM ^
Probably a hamstring, can take a while to get right
October 24th, 2022 at 4:18 PM ^
Jaxon Smith-Njigba at Ohio State is dealing with the same injury, which he got in week 1, and he still hasn't played more than a single half yet either. Soft tissue muscle injuries are a real pain in the ass that take forever to get fully fixed
October 24th, 2022 at 7:44 PM ^
Particularly when you are a high level athlete who wants to get back to playing with your team. Easy to reinjure in a practice or the weight room, even when you are trying to take it easier than you normally would
October 24th, 2022 at 7:50 PM ^
Just spray some Windex on it.
October 24th, 2022 at 2:03 PM ^
Not that photos can really tell you anything about one's condition, but the photo that was posted of All at the hospital, surrounded as he was by equipment and in a gown, made me assume that we probably weren't going to see him this year, which is rather a shame. Great player, great kid who really has overcome quite a bit, as a recent spot of the Kickoff Show highlighted.
October 24th, 2022 at 2:25 PM ^
Well anybody about to go in for any kind of surgery could have a picture like that. Cataracts, meniscus cleaning, lipoma removal, etc. but yes back surgery and I already figured he was done for the year. Makes sense.
October 24th, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
It may be back disk surgery. Beside having a herniated disk, if your disk breaks and threatens rubbing against your spinal cord, that could very serious.
October 24th, 2022 at 4:16 PM ^
Your disk doesn't "break." And yes it can rub against the spinal cord but that's not dangerous by itself. We don't know what kind of surgery he had but back surgery needs time to heal for most people and in a top level athlete it needs even more time or the alternative complication can be much worse. Since he's a potential NFL athlete he needs to heal and this all makes sense.
October 24th, 2022 at 2:04 PM ^
Good luck to All. A great player and sure hope he comes back for a year. Next year's offense will be fun with him especially against PSU on the road.
October 24th, 2022 at 2:08 PM ^
That insider info from weeks ago looks correct
October 24th, 2022 at 6:15 PM ^
I saw that posted weeks ago too and people were actively trying to get that conversation to stop, like it was a bad look to discuss the possibility.
I joined years ago because the inside info here was excellent (I was dying to know who was going to win the 2016 QB battle).
Now, it’s literally the opposite: when someone posts inside info, they are downvoted into oblivion and told to stop speculating, or to stop posting stuff behind paywall, or stop posting info from one of the 85 banned people or websites.

We have been duped a few times. That's why the shield is up.
October 24th, 2022 at 2:18 PM ^
this suck real bad
October 24th, 2022 at 2:25 PM ^
If he’s doing to be drafted high like we think he will he should go pro. He just had a kid and has a family to take care of. Get that money.
October 24th, 2022 at 4:40 PM ^
Agreed, but will he still be drafted high after this? NFL teams might be worried to invest in a guy coming off back surgery until he proves it's behind him.
October 24th, 2022 at 8:23 PM ^
I bet he slips into later rounds now unfortunately. Also doubt he returns to risk another injury.
Go pro brother!
October 24th, 2022 at 2:28 PM ^
He's All but Gone
I wish him well.
October 24th, 2022 at 2:47 PM ^
Is he? Would imagine the NFL wants to see him post injury, and thus his projected draft round will be low, and he returns for a year.
October 24th, 2022 at 3:31 PM ^
He's got a newborn to feed -- that NFL money even if 3rd round, is going to be attractive to him.
October 24th, 2022 at 3:35 PM ^
Thats the thing... with the injury, it might not be 3rd round...rather, an assessment of a late round pick.. and on a return and he plays like we know he can play, can vault up to the first or second round... I think he stays.
October 24th, 2022 at 5:49 PM ^
NIL can get him by financially for a year to gain his draft status back and then get the NFL money.
October 24th, 2022 at 8:04 PM ^
3rd round is where he's projected to get drafted if he is healthy but he had back surgery so it's likely that he'll be a UDFA so he needs to stay for one more year to show the NFL that he's healthy and his back isn't an issue.
October 24th, 2022 at 8:23 PM ^
He gone
October 24th, 2022 at 6:16 PM ^
Was hoping before the OP to see a headline that said "All in for this Season". But it was not meant to be.
October 24th, 2022 at 2:30 PM ^
Well, if his playing days at Michigan are over, you could say that he gave it his All. /dadjoke
Best of luck, and thanks for the sure hands.
October 24th, 2022 at 2:36 PM ^
It just says out for season, not done with football forever. I would think if he still has NFL aspirations he'll probably need to come back to play another season to show scouts he's back and can do it all.
(sorry)
October 24th, 2022 at 2:45 PM ^
heres hoping all underwent a hardware-free procedure and they just trimmed him up. hes got a bright future regardless but never great to see young kids with spine issues. im sure hed like to continue playing ball and take his shot at pros
October 24th, 2022 at 2:48 PM ^
If he gets a high draft grade, so be it. If not, he'll have an opportunity to earn it next season.
October 24th, 2022 at 3:55 PM ^
If this was serious back surgery - and what we know, suggests that it was - he may not be ready to do much at the draft combines, meaning any draft grade would have to be based on his pre-injury play. Can’t expect that to be very high.
October 24th, 2022 at 3:11 PM ^
This sucks but silver lining may be that he can spend more time with his baby.
October 24th, 2022 at 3:14 PM ^
The title really says it all.
Um.... there's a bar that has been set for "title says it all" today that you're going to work much harder if you want to meet.
October 24th, 2022 at 3:56 PM ^
Good one!
October 24th, 2022 at 3:20 PM ^
Well looks like that early season rumor that no one wanted to confirm was true. I respect privacy yet interesting it took a public surgery announcement by All for Harbaugh to finally say it. Bell last year and All this year.
October 24th, 2022 at 3:37 PM ^
Didn't someone make a post a few weeks ago saying Erik All was probably out for the year, and it got a bunch of downvotes?
October 24th, 2022 at 3:40 PM ^
Heal up young man, come back stronger next year, in college or the pros. Get your money sir!!
October 24th, 2022 at 3:51 PM ^
I wish this Michigan Man a speedy recovery. As he termed it a life changing operation. My hope is that the young man gets his degree and he thinks about his future with his newfound family responsibilities.
I am not selfish enough to hope on him returning to football next year if he potentially risks permanent damage. I'm sure he will get a lot of advice from his family and professionals on his next steps. Good luck any way he chooses.

NHG is day to day.
-August 30th
October 24th, 2022 at 8:25 PM ^
at this point he should probably take a medical year which sucks since our LB play has been subpar all year
October 24th, 2022 at 4:06 PM ^
Where’s Cade?
October 24th, 2022 at 4:35 PM ^
Supposedly available this weekend. Supposedly.
October 24th, 2022 at 4:34 PM ^
I would be surprised if he sticks around for another year. I was pleasantly surprised that we got 2022. He's got nothing left to prove at this point. Had it not been for the injury this year, we might be talking about him as our best TE of all time (although our crazy depth at the position might have taken away some of his glory).
October 24th, 2022 at 7:10 PM ^
We've had some great tight ends. Jim Mandich comes to mind, as does Jake butt, Funchess, Jeremy Tuman, Aaron Shea, and if memory serves, Ron Kramer played tight end. Of course, there have been many others, but these kinda jump out to me.
I hope all comes back and I have no doubt he'd make the list of the great ones!
October 24th, 2022 at 8:31 PM ^
you forgot one of the favorite targets of Jim Harbaugh himself.. Eric Kattus
October 25th, 2022 at 8:01 AM ^
Jay Riemersma getting no love?
October 24th, 2022 at 5:18 PM ^
Glad they finally got around to saying something. All the best for Eric; hope he recovers well for next season, either here or in the NFL.
Now, would it kill them to say SOMETHING about NHG or McNamara?
