Does Brian work here anymore?

I was curious and was looking for his take on NIL and the new UM President.

This has been discussed a bit on the board but I think Brian has had to deal with personal issues over the last year or so and is seemingly taking time off during the offseason.

I think the pre-2021 football struggle may have also exhausted his passion.

Anyway, I don't know Brian and am not a therapist - just repeating some of the takes from the Board.

I think he pretty clearly announced (last year?) that given the turmoil in hi personal life, he was taking some time off. And I say, good for him...

He pops on the weekly WTKA roundtable with Sam Webb, so he's alive and (hopefully) well.  His contributions on the roundtable have been fairly stripped-down so I'm not sure he's "all-in" yet.  Per Seth, Brian will be back in due time.

Logged on to make the same comment.

For the longest time Brian WAS MGoBlog, and I see nothing wrong with the OP inquiring about his whereabouts.

I have missed some of the updates regarding Brian and am glad to hear he plans on being back for the football season.

RE: Back for football season....

That is an assumption some readers have made, and not something either Brian or Seth have said.  Would not be surprised if he does make it back around then, but seems like this is for an undefined period while he gets his head right (as he should)

I am amazed how much thought and effort they all put in.  I am just a reader and I am burnt out.  The last 15 years have been a lot.  I've gone back and read some of the John Bacon books again, and man are they frustrating how things played out.

I went from watching college football all day long on saturday, to just watching Michigan, to just watching Michigan delayed, to watching Michigan delayed, sometimes as just a youtube film.

I totally understand any of the staff taking time. Especially as they are all similar ages to me and child sports and school and activities tend to eat up all the spare down time.

Thanks to all the staff and users who still keep this site going and all the great Michigan content.

Okay, I sensed some heat in it; being curious is, of course, totally okay. But I really do think that it's none of our business--I've been critical at various times about the site, but in the end it's brought a lot of us pleasure, and I'm grateful for it. I really am of the opinion that Brian doesn't owe us anything.

We all have Michigan sports and this blog to turn to in between the daily tasks of our lives. Unfortunately for Brian, he has to deal with us and Michigan sports 24/7.

My hope is Brian will return when he is ready to. Unless you have gone through a divorce, especially after having a child, you feel many different things and none of them are good. It takes time and therapy to do a self inventory, rediscover yourself and find a new path in life, all while raising a child who doesn’t understand why mommy and daddy can’t be together. I’ve been there, but not during a pandemic and all the other tragedy and drama we continue to witness.

Let’s continue to pray for and support Brian in this space and hope he can eventually let go of the guilt and discouragement that occurs after a marriage dissolves.

Doesn't he own the blog? I thought he was a working owner. He took some time off and he hired some great people (Seth, Alex, Matt and others) who do an excellent job. So, good for him. He should enjoy the fruit of his labor.

Every Thursday they post a recap of their roundtable discussion with Sam Webb from WTKA.  He is very active along with others on that round table.  They have provided their thoughts on NIL.  The next episode will probably touch on the new president.

Brian, if you by chance read this thread, I just want to say that I hope this time has borne good fruit for you.  I know from the experience of friends, however, that it can sometimes be a dark and really painful time.  So I want you to know that from time to time I pray for you.  Thanks for all the great fun you shared with us crazed M fans for so many years.  I hope you'll be able to come back.  But your life matters more.

As others have said, he made mention of the fact that he has a rather full plate in his life right now, and after all that he has built here, I think he deserves all the time in the world to sort it out and return at his leisure. This place will still be here - sure, it might be ablaze and there may be factions competing for supremacy in various threads, but it will be here.

All I know is that he's missed. It's a cruel world we live in. This man gave many years of his life pouring his heart and mind into this site. It quite possible negatively impacted his personal life and he was hardly ever emotionally rewarded for his fandom of the football program. The year he has had enough and decides to step away those damn kids go and beat the Buckeyes and win the Big Ten. I hope he got to enjoy it. If you were a superstitious type you may prefer he stay away for the sake of the program.

While we’re on the topic of Brian i really enjoyed last year’s podcast preview format where Brian played dumb and Seth had to explain everything about everything. Would love for the preview this year to be similar lol.
