Does Brian Kelly have CTE?

Submitted by Drew Henson's Backup on October 27th, 2019 at 7:17 AM

I don't mean to engage in baseless speculation, but I couldn't help but notice what a lifeless sack of potatoes he was while he watched his team's ass get kicked. He looked like wanted to go home about halfway through the second quarter. When is the last time he's been purple faced on the sideline? He hasn't yelled at anyone in ages. He's lost 11 straight on the road to top 20 teams.

I hope he doesn't have irreversible brain damage.

In the pouring rain getting run over, yeah I’d want to go home too. He did have very little fire which maybe means he saw this coming even though most of us didn’t?

Your sarcasm would be funny, if CTE wasn't such a serious issue and something people were generally concerned about (albeit based on rumor and pure speculation) regarding Harbaugh, who played over a decade in the NFL, in an era when concussions and head trauma were barely monitored.

Yeah that's a pretty generous take. No one was mentioning him and cte when things were going well for the team. It was and still is a completely disingenuous take that's a critique of him as a coach hiding as concern. It was ridiculous to be brought up and speculated about and it and the people who pushed that bs narrative deserve this mockery.

It’s not just Brian, or even primarily Brian. I have heard a ton of people, both on this blog and elsewhere, seriously espouse this CTE theory. Has harbaugh seemed a bit flat or off for the past 12-18 months?  Yes, but at the same time, he is just a quirky, somewhat weird, dude. Of all of the possible theories floated around - CTE, change in his meds, fatigue, change in focus after his newest child - the CTE theory seemed the most silly to me.

BK is a good coach. Stop trying to belittle a good win by saying he has cte... It's disrespectful to what the team did last night against a top 10 ND program.

I believe he was stunned and had no idea what to do. I got a Michigan-OSU vibe but in reverse. ND had plan A on defense and offense but nothing else. Michigan jumped on them on both sides of the ball and ND had no answers.

I made a thread whose intent was to take a shot at people who said Harbaugh’s body language has been bad and he has lost his edge and I took a lot of negs. I ain’t touching this one.

Thanks for posting this. Good critique on Brian. Man I love the blog and podcasts, but his comments on Harbaugh's mental health didn't come off as a joke. It was straight up speculation based on Harbaugh being "disorganized". For a blog that has raised a lot of money for mental health... Wtf. Shows how passionate we all are about this.

There are actually folks on various ND forums who comment about how lifeless and timid Kelly looked last night. There's also folks on RCMB who think Dantonio has dementia. It seems to be the new thing.
